The Raptors Aren’t Very Happy With the Celtics

A number of opponents this season have accused the defending champs of showing little to no class on the court. Especially during victories, of which they have quite a bit. It’s now time to add the Toronto Raptors to that list of folks who are less than pleased with the Beantowners.

People in the Toronto organization were upset with what they (rightfully) perceived as Boston showing them up, when Rondo set up Powe with a wholly unnecessary late-game oop. From the Toronto Sun:

“I didn’t think that was showing very much class doing that,” guard Anthony Parker said. “I think we as a team and most of the league tries in that situation to dribble the clock out. I don’t think we’ll see them again for the rest of the year but that’s something to remember.”

“They operate as an organization and do what they do,” Kris Humphries said, “but every organization that I have been a part of would not do that. I think that’s a team attitude.”

The Celtics have said it themselves repeatedly: the only way to shut them up, or keep them from acting like jerks, is to beat them. So far, only nine teams have managed to do so. The rest will just have to continue gritting their teeth.

    KG has never had class. The truth used to be the definition of class. Not anymore. The Celtics may win another title…who knows? I’m thinking not. 19 wins in a row is impressive, losing 7 of nine against quality and unquality teams alike? Not so impressive. Unless they throw together another huge run I think they should probably rethink their swagger before they truly get embarrassed for all the bluster.

    If Detroit doesn’t make it, I want the Celtics and Lakers in the Finals again.

    it wasn’t a regular oop – Rondo bounced it off the floor And1 style to Powe for the dunk, with 1 second left. Triano called a timeout before the clock ran out and stared towards the Celtics bench for a few before taking his time to draw up a pointless play. He wanted to make the Celts wait as long as possible to leave the floor for being a bunch of d-bags

    I’m tired of people whining about class and all that garbage. The point is to win the game and thats what the Celtics are doing… winning games. Who cares how it’s done as long as they don’t break the rules. Most of the greats were some of the dirtiest classless b@stards to ever play. Most of the time, nice guys finish last.

    Bargs is more clutch than Bosh. I love his play the last 8 games. If he continues gaining confidence the team will be his within a couple of years. Also, Roko will be better than Calderon within 2 years. Count on it.

    The Celts already has the game won..I didnt like that, and thought Jay Triano was gonna lay into him haha…oh and the time out was a reaction to that ridicuous dunk..and to show the Raps that they fought hard, and to try and carry over to the next game. And hey, there wouldnt have been a timeout by the Raps if they would have dribbled the 1 second out right?

    I think the Raps are a little sensitive after KG went at Jose earlier this season. Also, I think a Cavs Lakers finals would be amazing (even though I hate the Fakeshow, and want desperately for my Spurs to get one more ring with Timmy)mostly because LeBreezy would affirm his greatness and we’d all get to watch Kobe coming to grips with “second best” status. How long of a deal did Calderon sign? He looks old already.

    ^ Yes, so the End Of the Purple Reign can be on full display for the entire world to watch. Although, I’m sure even if Lebron won a head to head Finals against the Lakers this season, he’d still be #2 on the 09 SLAM Top Fifty behind Bean, so it doesn’t really matter in the long run.

    The Celtics did have a slump, and now there what, 30 and 9? That still stands as a tremendous winning record. I still feel that Boston not having PJ Brown or Posey is going to have an interesting affect come playoff time… And the confidence of the NBA has risen in their slump. I’m no Celtics hater, I find the irony of having perhaps the blackest, most American team in the NBA beating up on everyone else (and it being Boston no less) with their heartless euro-players and whinny pre-maddonnas quite amusing.

    I hate the Celts more and more every time I watch them. I can’t remember being happier to see a team have such a slump. It’s not that they are the champs, it’s just KG and his classless attitude that has spread across the whole team (with the possible exception of Big Baby, who seems oh so nice). I really hope Bron takes care of them quickly. It’s like D.J said “if you stand up to them, they will back down” or something to that affect. Fake gangsters.

    Garnett showed no class when he waved his finger in Jose’s face. The alley oop was unnecessary. They are proving to be classless winners. Everyone’s come across someone like that. No one likes them.

    Was it classless? Yes. Does it matter? It depends on whether these Celtics care about how they are perceived by their peers and the general public. They went from media darlings to a bunch of jerks. Nobodies like Humphries and rookies like Augustin are calling them out. Again, they might not care one bit and that would be absolutely fine. But it’s a fact. I don’t remembere a champion team that was getting as little respect around the league as this Boston team.

    hey the celtics said it if you want to shut them up then up then beat them quite a few people have done that including the raptors so the will keep talking. the REALLY funny thing about this is that when KG was doing the same thing he was doing now and loosing then it was showing heart, now that he is doing the same thing and winning he has an attitude problem i mean come on.
    But in that scenario i wouldnt not have thrown that alley opp, although the only way he could was off the bounce because if he picked it up it would have been a walk. but who am i to say when throw an opp or not i am not a strong all star candidate and an NBA CHAMPION.
    I mean i understand where some teams are coming from but the raptors need to shut up, they finding something to cry over. I mean they get paid millions of dollars to entertain and thats exactly what they did. it was an exciting game with an exciting finish. And who is to say Coach Doc Rivers got into his team for the alley oop

    KG’s antics were always great when he wasn’t winning but now, it would be nice to see a little class from someone that I used to love watching play. When you win and show the other team up it just makes you look petty.

    ? 4 u guys. Was KG classless when he pulled Glenn Davis into the huddle and yelled at him and everyone else? KG “I was trying to inspire our guys” “I’ll get with him in the locker room”. I guess that was classless…. This is what I’ve been saying throughout the year about KG, he yells and screams at EVERYONE. Teammates, opponents, himself AND noone inparticular. lol. MJ, Bird, G Payton et al did the same things.

    Its sickening to see that people have lost the meaning to the term “classless”, to me waving a finger in somebody’s face is no more classless than an individual throwing beer on a player or a cheap shot. Im a Bulls fan, so I was familiar with every antic the Pistons tried against us. We indeed beat ourselves before we were able to conquer them en route to our first ring. But the Pistons are the epitome of classlesness and I dont want to here anybody say differently.
