When Assistant Coaches Attack

Feisty: “Assistant coach Doug Overton exploded at rookie Chris Douglas-Roberts, shouting at him and getting up in his face before Frank came over to get in the middle of the two men. It happened in full view of reporters, who had just been let in to see the final few minutes of practice. It wasn’t evident what got Overton so angry.”

I don’t think I ever saw Doug get that heated when he played for the Bullets.

i didnt know CDR was in the NBA at the moment.

  • TADOne Posted: Jan.30 at 12:18 pm
CDR has been a huge disappointment so far.

If I’m not mistaken, there was talk on this website in the preseason that CDR may have been the steal of the draft and a nightly contributor of high volume scoring. Yeah…..don’t listen to the scourge of the intrantets….it won’t get you anywhere.

It must be tough to crack that overly talented Nets rotation. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Yeah E, I was one of the scourge who said such things. I’ll admit when i’m wrong. What happened to that Memphis via Detroit boy I remember watching?

  • Eboy Posted: Jan.30 at 4:25 pm
I can’t remember who it was, TAD…..but I know I heard (read) it.

  • Dacre Posted: Jan.30 at 6:55 pm
I said it too. I guess thats why I’m at home on Friday nights and Doug Overton is getting in young cats faces.

Doug Overton is probably top 10 of all time in number of 10-day contracts signed.

@ TADOne and B.Long, I always think that you guys know what you’re talking about. With that in mind, TAD: how can you say CDR has been “a huge disappointment so far”? That’s a bit weird to call someone a disappointment since he hardly sees the floor. B: yes, it hard to “crack that talented Nets rotation” because CDR is best suited at SG at the moment. New Jersey basically plays three guards: Harris, Carter and Dooling, with Hayes sometimes playing the 2 guard position too. And now there’s even talk of playing Trenton Hassell more, basically ruining any chance to get CDR some minutes out there. Thorn praised CDR for his offense, but also adviced him to knock down that jumper, since he’s not that good at it so far. Also he has to work on defense, be committed to play both ends of the floor. I hope this cleared up why CDR doesn’t play.

Doug Overton was a tough, resillient type player…he prbally expects his players to play with the same vigor…..
