A Look at the Vince Carter Trade Derby

Hey, Mr. Carter: “The Spurs, Rockets, Mavericks and Cavaliers are among the teams interested in Carter. One scenario has Carter going to Houston in a package that includes Ron Artest’s expiring contract. Dallas has dangled Jerry Stackhouse and parts, but unless one part is Josh Howard it makes little basketball sense.”

Vince reunited in Houston with his cousin McGrady is just too perfect.

  • Ritchie Posted: Feb.13 at 10:36 am
T-MAC and VC BACK TOGETHER MAKE IT HAPPEN!

  • wiz Posted: Feb.13 at 10:40 am
he’s gonna end up in boston lol

  • B. Long Posted: Feb.13 at 10:49 am
Why would anyone be excited about Vince and Tracy being on the Rockets together? It’s not like we’d actually get to see them play together anyways.

  • a_whiteman Posted: Feb.13 at 10:49 am
He will end up in a spurs jersey

  • Fred34 Posted: Feb.13 at 10:50 am
Wouldn’t it be cool if VC went somewhere, actually made an impact (and a lasting one at that) and helped a team get collectively better? It’s optimism day :)

  • Jukai Posted: Feb.13 at 10:56 am
Bring him to the Cavs! Vince and Lebron would be crazy!

  • Eboy Posted: Feb.13 at 10:57 am
I like him going to the Cavs.

  • kev Posted: Feb.13 at 11:02 am
i concur, send him to cleveland!!!

  • Prison Mike Posted: Feb.13 at 11:31 am
Spurs or Cavs. I really miss seeing VC being a contender to get to the finals. Hasn’t happened since 2001.

  • Funkdoc Posted: Feb.13 at 11:48 am
Some teams are just confusing everybody.
First T-Mac and Vince split up, now they rejoin?
First Kidd and VC split up, … ?
Next thing you know Artest is going to Detroit

  • squibb Posted: Feb.13 at 12:06 pm
Who cares where he goes. He is nothing but a cry baby

  • Doc Funk Posted: Feb.13 at 12:34 pm
VC to Houston is intriguing. It might be more of a reunion than the Rockets would want. VC plays ball while T-Mac eats potato salad. Afterwards they tell stories to Carl Landry about how there once was a team in Vancouver.

  • Anton Posted: Feb.13 at 12:44 pm
Haha the Vancouver Grizzlies were awesome. Big Country in the house

  • Holy Baller Posted: Feb.13 at 12:47 pm
I think I just had a mini-heart attack when I pictured Vince and LeBron running the fast break together.

  • Anton Posted: Feb.13 at 12:52 pm
Loves the Cavs trade as well.

  • TADOne Posted: Feb.13 at 12:56 pm
If Ron Ron actually ends up in Jersey, I would expect the Slam fam to make weekly treks to the swamp.

  • Anton Posted: Feb.13 at 1:03 pm
I say go smaller and get rid of Ben Wallance and/or Wally. Varejao is better offensively and Ben’s not doing much of anything on either side of the court.
Might have to convince Delone West to come off the bench but he’d still get lots of minutes with Mo and that would make their bench even more deadly.
Starters: King James, Big Z, Tha Carter, Mo, Sideshow
    *drools*

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Feb.13 at 1:34 pm
I don’t see why the Nets would trade VC unless they get cap relief, a first-round pick, and an up-and-coming player. He’s still playing at a high level and he’s pretty much their only marquee attraction. I know Devin’s an All-Star, but people aren’t gonna fill seats at the World’s Most Inconvenient Arena to see him cross people up and throw lobs to Brook Lopez.

  • shane Posted: Feb.13 at 1:38 pm
trade roger mason and some other dude for vince to move to spurs
they will win championship 4 sure then

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Feb.13 at 1:39 pm
If Ben’s “not doing much of anything on either side of the court,” why the f*ck would they trade for him? Nostalgia for the Jason Collins days? If I were the Nets, I’d want Wally’s expiring contract, J.J. Hickson and a first-rounder.

  • Anton Posted: Feb.13 at 1:42 pm
^DONE. I’ll throw in Boobie, too.

  • riggs Posted: Feb.13 at 1:50 pm
haha @ “worlds most inconvenient arena”

  • Jackie Moon Posted: Feb.13 at 2:34 pm
Cavs Tickets would go up 75% for the Lebron Vince show. I think TNT would add the rest of their games to their Thurs nights.

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Feb.13 at 2:42 pm
Really? To watch him shoot fallaway 30-footers? 2009 VC =/= 2000 VC.

  • Mike Posted: Feb.13 at 2:47 pm
Russ are you serious? VC has been playing sick ball this year, get up off him! LeBron and VC together equals Jordan-Pippen round 2…

  • Anton Posted: Feb.13 at 2:50 pm
If the Nets want young players to build on, have at it. Cavs don’t need that, people tend to forget Crab is only 24. There’s no real room for young talented players like Hickson to develop especially this late in the season where every game counts and minutes for such players are rarer than Kobe doing the big balls dance and winning afterwards.
Boobie is a lost cause and while Wally is playing pretty good lately, VC 2K9 would put up a better stat line(20 and 10, or 25 and 14 when he’s pissed off) and it would be interesting to see him realize that he’s deep in the playoffs battling for a chip. Assuming, of course, if he feels like it.
Huge potential if everyone is on board.

  • $tev3 Posted: Feb.13 at 3:22 pm
I love Vince & idont want to buy a new jersey of his but if he goes to the cavs ill be glad

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Feb.13 at 3:29 pm
to the spurs for mike finley, jacque vaughn, 1st round pick, and cash.

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Feb.13 at 3:35 pm
I didn’t say Vince hasn’t been playing “sick ball”—in fact, if you look at my first comment in this very post, I say that VC is “still playing at a high level and he’s pretty much their only marquee attraction.” That said, Jordan/Pippen II? What? You’ve been going to parties with Michael Phelps, huh?

  • witness Posted: Feb.13 at 3:45 pm
artest and mcgrady have chemistry problems. artest is the better all around player but mcgrady is too hard to get rid of. a trade like this can rejuvenate artest and if new jersey buys his contract out he can make a big splash in a return to houston.

  • mr. carter Posted: Feb.13 at 4:44 pm
YEEES! go away mr. carter and let cdr get some playing time! go ball wit ur cuz

  • niQ Posted: Feb.13 at 5:54 pm
“The Spurs, Rockets, Mavericks and Cavaliers” WOW. i would love the see any of those happen (except the Mavericks). If he joins the spurs or cavs, it seems almost like a sure shot at the chip. If he joins the Rockets, it will be epic from him to rejoin his cousin. except they might both be injured by the time the trade occurs.

  • witness Posted: Feb.13 at 6:06 pm
hey niQ? c’mon man. i love the rockets. you know that its gonna be scola leading the team because all of the potential big three is gonna be hurt.

  • buggsie7_aus Posted: Feb.14 at 6:05 am
trade him to the suns for amare

  • buggsie7_aus Posted: Feb.14 at 6:06 am

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Feb.14 at 8:42 am
in fact, THE rumor out there is VC for Mason, Hill, Bowen and Oberto. Nets beat writer Dave D’Alessandro has posted that today. Bowen and Oberto would be cut though.

  • MalevolentKing7242 Posted: Feb.14 at 11:50 am
Trade him to new orleans for peja. CP3 david west and VC would ownnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anton Posted: Feb.14 at 1:14 pm
In that case, terrible for the Spurs

  • Ryan Posted: Feb.14 at 3:19 pm
i’m a houston rockets fan plz plz plz take tmac n give us VC keep artest he’s a way better player than tmac n he doesn’t cost as much
image VC, Von Wafer, Yao, and Artest all together
    tht would be sick

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Feb.14 at 7:09 pm
Why in the world would Houston give up Ron Artest!?! He has great chemistry with Yao and co, and he’s one of our best defenders.

  • shane Q Posted: Feb.15 at 11:11 am
    TRADE HIM TO SAN ANTONIO
HIM N MCGRADY CAN MEET UP NOW AND THEN AND HE WILL OBVIOUSLY GET A RING WIF TONY P ,DUNCAN N GINOBILI

  • Bruno Posted: Feb.15 at 1:03 pm
i just read vince + lebron = jordan + pippen.
thats it. i’m done with this thing here… oh lord, how can someone be SO stupid!?
kid! neighter of them would qualify to tie pip or mj’s sneakers laces!!!!!
    fu(k off!

  • rikson Posted: Feb.16 at 5:54 am
VC with the Spurs just doesnt sound right – is it just me?

  • MalevolentKing7242 Posted: Feb.16 at 7:11 pm
Its not right that would be odd if he was in the spurs. Bruno that would work out if he went with the cavs. RJ is not as good if they got him…

  • DEy Posted: Feb.16 at 9:55 pm
I think Vc night something…like trade him to spurs… Td know how to win championship…if they trade to cavs…they still need time to gel….

  • Dacre Posted: Feb.17 at 12:36 am
the word sum: (VC + LbJ = MJ + PIP) displays HIGHLY incorrect commutative properties and in no uncertain terms, reflects the completely inane and unparalleled stupidity of he who made such a comment.

  • jcamillus Posted: Feb.17 at 9:56 pm
vince carter should be traded to cavs or san antonio and boston will be dead in finals..
