Remember when Desmond Mason did things like this on a regular basis? Drafted by the Sonics, the 2001 Slam Dunk Contest champ was shipped to Milwaukee in ’03, when Atiba snapped this shot. Looks like he put all of his 38-inch vert to use on this one. — Adam Fleischer

great, great shot. Does Atiba even post here sometimes? If you do: Atiba, this is one of those pics where you wonder: did Mason make the dunk? Good work man!

Thanks for the photo, of someone who has fallen off the basketball earth! You couldn’t get a photo of Melo or D-Will could you?

Justin, we have a Melo portrait in the cue. Atiba took it as well. We’re still trying to get the exact issue, so that’s what’s been holding us back from posting. As far as I know, the only portraits of Deron came from this summer’s cover shoot. Those might be a bit longer before they’re up online. Sorry.

    He’s a good player, I don’t know why teams don’t keep him.

I remember having this as my background for the longest time. Sidenote: Those And 1 Quests are siiiiick!

Ok Ryne, I digged the Stack Jack photo that was on here about a week or so ago.

Perhaps the best dunk contest since Vince’s was when Desmond and JRich went head to head. I loved how furiously Mason attacked the rim.

Man, dude was one of my favorite players back then…Hope he finds a better team and comes back from that injury.

The Nene photoshoot in that issue was also amazing. That was the Duncan Finals one in ’03.

Atiba is one of the most outstanding photographers I can think of. He also takes outstanding pictures of skateboarders in action if I remember correctly

as beautiful and graceful as his dunks are, his free throws are the complete opposite.
