Cautious Optimism About Nene’s Injury

They don’t sound too worried in the Mile High City: “The knock-on-wood Nuggets have yet to lose injury-prone Nene to a prolonged injury this season, but with 45.1 seconds left Sunday, Nene suffered a bruised right knee. He will see Dr. Steve Traina today for an evaluation. ‘It doesn’t look like anything structural, but it’s hard to evaluate when it’s so sore,’ Nuggets athletic trainer Jim Gillen said … Nene said while standing on crutches: ‘It hurts a lot. It happened so fast. But he bumped me good. I can’t straighten my leg. It’s going to hurt, but it’s nothing crazy, no big thing. I’ll put ice on it and we’ll see.’”

Let’s hope for the best. This is one of the “feel-good” NBA stories.

Cautious Optimism is how I would describe the Nuggets. They’re 3rd in the West but yet they are the Nuggets.

    Imagine if this is Billups.

Sesa, imagine if this is Nene! 14.9 points, 7.9 boards, 1.4 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game! This dude is a legit big man, and this awesome season that he’s having isn’t getting the amount of attention that it warrants. But of course, I see what you are talking about.

They needed him against the Celts. They can’t seem to win without both him and K-Mart playing together…
