Knicks Attempt to Get Amare, Predictably Fail

by Marcel Mutoni

Of all the Amare Stoudemire trade rumors – and there have been a ton, with many more surely on the way – this one easily ranks as the most amusing. So, according to Newsday, Donnie Walsh and his people reached to out Steve Kerr and company, inquiring about STAT’s availability.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Suns weren’t willing to play ball:

“Count the Knicks out of the Amare Stoudemire Sweepstakes, which has become the buzz of the NBA leading into the All-Star break. According to multiple sources, among the many calls Phoenix Suns executive Steve Kerr fielded about the availability of Stoudemire, one came from Knicks president Donnie Walsh. But nothing came of it other than an understanding that the Suns would not send the 6-11 all-star forward/center to Mike D’Antoni’s Knicks.

“The sense was they wouldn’t do anything with New York,” one person with knowledge of the situation said.

Nice try, D’Antoni.

You don’t leave a franchise and expect to swipe their best player, too. That’s just not the way things work in this world, regardless of the team owner’s naked desperation to trade the guy.

He’d be a perfect fit. No defense, makes lots of money, likes attention…

Even if the Knicks could offer something great Robert Sarver wouldn’t let it happen. Easily one of the most knuckle-headed, vindictive owners in the league. He refuses to deal with Bryan Colangelo too, mainly because BC got sick of his crap and left town.

Wow, so Knicks and Raps are out of the picture.

The Knicks can’t offer anything great though so it’s more or less a moot point.

portland seems like the only feasible option.

As a Suns fan, this is just getting more and more depressing. If Amare has to go, I say send him to New Jersey for VC and Brook Lopez.

Let the Lopez twins be on the same team again. =P

Too bad I don’t think New Jersey would bite on that deal.

I knew this wouldn’t work out because Amare’s name isn’t LeBron.

send him to europe and trade him for rick rubio to replace nash!! (evil laugh)muaha ha ha….j/k

Amare is untouchable. He’s the Al Capone of the NBA.

  • matt

if so, Phoenix ownership is stupid to restrict the list of potential trading partners based on some pissing match. Businesspeople who succeed make decisions for rational reasons.

  • donlaker

steve kerr pull the trigger with the bulls, get
amare statamire so tyrus and kurt or(noah) can start the run and gun with nash , noah could play off shaq and grant hill and they might get past the first round…..

Kerr please trade Amare to the Pistons. For one you don’t want to trade him to the West especially Portland since they are one of the top teams in the West and only a couple of wins ahead of you. That’s hurting your franchise right there. Pistons are willing to give up anything except Rodney Stuckey. We have not only a bunch of great players on this team but a bunch of winners as well. Rasheed hasn’t played his best but maybe in a new atmosphere he’ll play like the old Rasheed again, you can take Rip or Tay as well and a 1st round pick to have him come to the Pistons. Therefore since he’ll be on the East Coast instead of the West Coast you won’t have to worry.

  • tindore

i cant believe sarver has still kept kerr around… ever since he was hired he has made to many stupid big trades… only J-rich was a solid move… FIRE KERR… and let him come back to TV where he was great…

What the hell ever happened to Ama’re’s blo’g on this si’te?! It sucked anyways. I’m just curious.

I hate to say it, but Amare’s blog was pretty lame. I still think the Bulls can make it interesting, if the deal with Portland doesn’t work.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Wow. The Knicks were trying to become Phoenix in the East. Hahaha, what an awesome attempt.

  • MeloMan13

bring him to Tdot. andrea would compliment Shaq perfectly and we can give u what u lost when u traded Matrix last year (Jamario). plus its in the east so u only need to worry about him twice a year

  • Loqui

Well the Knicks had to try. Damn Kerr is such a baby, D’antoni left because you suck Kerr!

I dont know if you understand what “moot” means….

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

A moot point means something debatable, a point being arguable… not irrelevant, as the masses seem to believe.

  • Chris Ujma

yes but it also signifies that no matter how arguable a topic is, the outcome will be irrelevant and have no practical value, becoming moot.
just call me grammar-mar like LJ.

  • Krishan

Actually dacre you’re wrong. And right at the same time. “Moot point” has two popular meanings, the first was your’s, the second was what’s. Class dismissed.

  • CHE

I love Amare but this fool doesn’t care to play defense. They should trade him to the pistons for mcdyess, hamilton and maxiell. Both teams would benefit from the deal.

  • CHE

“Side note” Steve Kerr is a horrible GM. I am still scratching my head as to why he picked Terry Porter as coach. I know they are friends and what not but if my friend needed a job where I worked and I knew he wasn’t the best guy for the job I wouldn’t get him hired because when he screws up it all falls back on me. Terry Porter is at best an assistant coach. The players in Phoenix refuse to respect the guy because they have more knowledge of the game than him. lol

  • rick_astley

Kirk hinrich and Drew Gooden going to Detroit
Rasheed Wallace and Derrick Rose to Phoenix
Amare Stoudamire and Grant Hill to Chicago

  • rick1

Amare Stoudamaire and Grant Hill > Bulls
Derrick Rose and Rasheed Wallace > Suns
Kirk hinrich and Drew Gooden > Pistons

  • Cool j

I am sorry but Terry might not be a very good coach but he was a great point guard and a baller.

Why are the Suns building around an old war veteran? Shaq won’t be able to produce forever where as when we gave Amare the ball he created and averaged almost 30 a game. Didn’t Shaq say when Amare was back in high school he was the next face of the NBA? Then get out of his way Diesel. Send SHAQ to Nets for VC and put Nash, J Rich, VC, Grant, and Amare out there and dominate the fast break again PLEASE!

Does it matter? They get anothe shot in 2010 if Lebron doesn’t work out and i bet Amare would love to be playing for his old coach again.

  • kingofsota

there is only one division phoenix will trade him to, and thats the Eastern conf. central division. chicago and detroit both going after him and both willing to give up talent and expiring contracts for him, the things phoenix desparately wants. i guarantee if amare gets traded he will be a Bull or Piston

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

I figured if Amare was going to be traded, it woulda gone down already. I wont be surprised if nothing happens.

  • http://nextgg.com DMC14

Amare had a blog on this site? fire Sarver too.
