Knicks swap Rose for Wilcox

After rescinding the Tyson Chandler trade yesterday, the Thunder shipped Chris Wilcox to the Knicks for Malik Rose. The Knicks were happy to send cash considerations to OKC along with Rose because, well… Wilcox is actually useful.

The Knicks really make me dizzy.

  • Solly What

NO!!!! Malik is one of the most enthusiastic, energized players ever to be in the NBA. Such a great team player– he really fit so well in the Spurs. Coming off the bench he added a necessary shot of energy. Great defender and rebounder as well as shooter. If the Thunder knows what’s right, they’ll give him a chance to be a productive participant and team player once again. Good luck Malik!!!

Malik Rose’s best year was 1999. When he won a chip against the knicks.

Solly, I think, is still living in 1999.

Solly: Yo, that was like 10 years ago. What has Malik done for me lately? Great trade. Rose wasn’t doing jack schitt and we pick up a guy who actually plays with effort and will help on the boards and catch a couple of oops here and there. The Knicks are starting to shape up. They are starting to resemble the PHX Suns of old…before everyone convinced themselves that Nash was a superstar and Amare was just a young pup. The Suns were a great team before the weight of the individual stardom starting pulling them down.

the knicks do look alot better than last year now. donnie walsh is doin pretty good. but who the hell is gonna replace these players when their contracts are up? and lebron cant do it by himself…

If Bron actually signs with the Knicks, he can look down the long list of free agents and pick and choose who he wants to return to the knicks and who he does not. The Knicks have shown they are willing to pay whatever over the years, at least now they have a roster of active players. Except for Curry.

Malik made his name (and his oversized contract) with heart and hustle in San Antonio, but honestly, I’m amazed he’s still in the league. Wilcox still has some talent, and he can still finish around the rim. I think D’Antoni’s Knicks could be a great fit or him, and if this chance doesn’t motivate him nothing will.

Getting rid of Jerome James and Mailk Rose are great moves by Donnie Walsh, the guys they brought back aren’t stars, but they can be legit contributers. I say the future is bright in NYC with D’Antoni and Walsh at the helm. I’d be really happy if I was a Knick fan, not because this team is so great, but because they seem to have a competant front office for the first time in a while.

Malik should take that cyanide pill he has in his upper bicuspid. Eff the Knicks for hanging onto him for so long through all the Isiah nonsense, never playing him, and then trading him to the worst possible place. Malik doesn’t deserve this.

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

And yes, I know Isiah traded for him in the first place.

Mailk got so overpaid in his career that its hard for me to muster much sympathy. He was great in San Antonio, right up until he got paid, then he became a “scorer” and wanted to shoot midrange Js all game. He’s a great person, but as a ballplayer, he should be happy his career has lasted this long. He can always just not report to OKC…

At this point in his career he’s more of a mentor and team leader than a player. Ask any young big who’s played for the Knicks the past couple of years. He’s a valuable locker room presence if nothing else. He’d have been a good pickup for, say, the Magic. Oh well, I’m sure he’ll be well liked on the Tuff Kats, although he sure as hell ain’t winning no title.

I totally believe you on Mailk as a person Russ, he was always a crowds favorite in SA and very well liked by teammates. I could definitely see him with a job as an asistant coach in the next couple years.

does Tuff Kats somehow know they ARE getting blake griffin and is trying to get a mentor in place before he get there?
    NBA: where rigging everything happens.

could be Albie… word is Clay Bennet may have arranged for a lifetime of free massage parlor handjobs for Stern and his cronies in the league office…

  • jer boi

all malik rose does is sweat.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

AWESOME. Sort of. Wilcox will actually play; that’s always a plus.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Good luck to Rose though… That was not sarcastic. Seriously.
He’s a good teammate to have. Just he doesn’t play anymore.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Refresh my memory: Malik Rose has won a title with the Spurs, right? No? Yes?

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    Mo Charlo answered my question.
