Reality Returns To Phoenix

by Russ Bengtson

And what a harsh reality it is: Terry Porter fired, and Jason Richardson arrested (for going 90 in a 35, yikes). Happy President’s Day!porter.jpg

Of course bad news comes in threes, and with the trade deadline right around the corner, one suspects that Suns fans might not be out of the woods yet. By then, someone might just be another STATistic.

Russ posting notes? Nice. Happy President’s day.

Forget going 90, why the hell did Richardson not have his 3-year-old in a child seat??!!

  • Rome

Why did I hear that STAT was going to Cleveland? Then came online and there’s nothing out there that says that?

“Good Afternoon….may I speak to Mr. Richardson…this is the Office of Arizona Child Services?”

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

Yeh Tadone. to quote ESPN: SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. –” Phoenix Suns guard Jason Richardson was arrested in Scottsdale after police said he was driving 55 mph above the limit with his unrestrained 3-year-old son in the car.” Damn…..

How does management fire a coach for their own stupidity?

  • rainman10

Trying to turn around their own stupidity.

  • Rome

If the stupid is stupid enough to be stupid, how can we trust them to be smart enough to stop being stupid?

In other words if all Kerrs moves to this point were dumb, do we really expect firing the coach to be the right move?

I’m from Detroit, and this is a Matt Millen move all the way…when you put to gether a sucky roster, fire the coach…

  • Rome

    stupid is as stupid does…

Russ, if you tell me inside info about the Amare trade I will guarantee 500 posts in all of your topics for the next year.

The rumored offer included Cleveland sending Wally Sczerbiak, J.J. Hickson, and a first-round draft pick to the Suns for Stoudemire. Yahoo Sports also mentioned that Cavaliers’ forward Anderson Varejao was included in possible scenarios. Cleveland GM Danny Ferry said that there were “No discussions at this time” when contacted by Yahoo Sports on Friday.

Amare Stoudemire will become a free-agent in 2010 and he will surely draw attention from teams all over the league. But if the Cavs can pull him in now and resign him AND LeBron in 2010…look out.

The Cavaliers, however, are not the front-runners for Amare. A couple other teams are offering packages with a little more juice in order to bring in the big man. League sources say that Chicago wants in on Stoudemire, with a potential scenario that would send Drew Gooden, Tyrus Thomas and Thabo Sefolosha to Phoenix.

I know the NBA seems to be about nothing but expiring contracts and money hungry players, but it’s entertaining nonetheless. And for a year when my beloved Wizards are the worst team in the NBA, I’m pulling for the Cavs to land Amare.

    There you have it…

I keep bringing this up, but someone at SLAM needs to check out IE Shoes advertising fake Jordans on your homepage….

  • Young Chris MP3

Keep Amare… Trade Shaq so he can have a chance to win

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

Wow, I threw that Wally/JJ/first-rounder proposal out there last week. I is a genius.

  • Jacob

goin 90 in a 30 mph zone…I gotta try that

  • CHE

Yea I heard they were trying to deal Amare to Cleveland for Wally and Verajo. I don’t see how the Suns would benefit from that..lol Maybe if they threw in a first round draft pick.

  • Diesel

If Chicago can land Amare and in a seperate trade Hughes for Chris Kayman – I’ll predict a championship in the next 3 years.

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

It would have been cooler if his three-year-old was doing 90 in a 35. Also, Diesel? Let’s not be getting ahead of ourselves.

  • Diesel

Russ you should know that as a Bulls fan all we have right now is our dreams….and ridiculous inconsistency

  • CP34MVP

Going 90 in a 35… Without a child in a carseat.. 2 words A Mazing. I really hope STAT goes to the Pistons. Terry Porter Fired not surprised. But Look On The Bright side.. The suns have a big jabbawockee.

Why would the Suns make any of the trades out there if they truly were trying to win still? Those players for Amare is garbage. If they trade Amare for any of those deals whats the point in keeping Nash and a few others? Cause without Amare this team is nowhere close to winning anything. Amare is also one of the top finishing big men in the game…..so if your going to go back to running with gentry as coach it makes no sense to trade him.

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee

Yikes…this guy is buggin. What if they pulled him over and he was actually riding with Verne Troyer and the police made a mistake?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com.dacre Dacre

Shaq showed he can play in a high octane offense…this was just rediculous the way things went. The entire start to this season was just unncessesary and D’Antoni should still be here….flaming Kerr.

  • kingofsota

and to add the cherry on top, STAT will be a bull in 3 days… i hope!

Steve Kerr is still working for the Spurs

  • http://sportzin.com Joey E.

A’m'a’r'e’ will NOT be traded. Its on ESPN and other media outlets

  • Young Chris MP3

    Shaq to Mavs come on!

  • -Ardi

Hell no! They’ll make a move, but NOT Shaq!

  • JoeMaMa

#1 – Terry Porter brought in to make high octane low championship offense a defensive half court juggernaut.
#2 – Players adjust to new philosophy after so many years of run/gun.
#3 – Sensing there isn’t an immediate improvement, Kerr makes big trade.
#4 – Sense there isn’t an immediate improvement, Kerr fires a great coach.
#5 – Sensing there isn’t an immediate improvement, quits and returns to Yahoo! Sports.

  • Jackie Moon

#6 Kerr gets a job as GM for another team.

Porter is not a great coach, most of the team had played against him and saw him as a peer rather than head honcho, rumour has it D’Antoni will still be coaching the team through Gentry via text messages.

    gonna get fired?
