Shawn Marion Doesn’t Miss Miami and Its Crushing Boredom

by Marcel Mutoni

As far as Shawn Marion is concerned, Toronto beats Miami any day of the week, plus twice on Sunday. I’m guessing Shawn has yet to walk the streets and notice the lack of sunshine and warmth he has grown accustomed to.

Oh, he was talking about basketball? Very well then, carry on Mr. Matrix. From the CP:

The way coach basically explained it to me, we’re going to get up and down the court a little bit more, it’s going to be more fun to go out there and just play ball basically,” Marion said at a news conference Tuesday at the Air Canada Centre.

“The game is supposed to be exciting. I’m tired of playing that boring style, halfcourt, just watching everybody go up and run a play, call this play, run this play. That’s boring, I’m not going to lie to you. I know fans don’t enjoy it, either.”

Hmm, let’s see here: The Heat not only has a better team than the Raptors, but they have a better record, are in playoff contention, and um, they live and work in FREAKING MIAMI. But, of course, yes, Toronto is better for Shawn Marion. His logic is amazing.

As for the other half of the trade, Jermaine O’Neal says he’s stumbled into the fountain of youth thanks to the move.

i’d rather he say all that stuff than ‘toronto is cold, this coach is inexperienced, they have no depth….”

To each his own Shia, its probably simsilar to my irrational didtaste for Andre Iguodala. I know he’s good, but I can’t stand him. For what its worth TP did suck last night(5-20 FGs).

    didtaste = distatse

Guess he’s just the same old Shawn.

    Is shawn marion bipolar?

  • NJ4Life

Anybody check out that J.O. link? there’s an option to have the article read to you by a Microsoft Sam-like woman. Creepy as hell.

Welcome to Canada, Matrix. Here’s your complementary marijuana, free health care, and a legal 16 year old.
    Enjoy.

  • tinchek

i would let him explain what is basic basketball.lol

i think CWebb straight call him a garbage-type player (or ultimate role player, one of those) when they discussed the trade on TNT this past weekend.

  • adams

NJ4Life is right. That computer woman is awesome. For example she tells us that the D in D-Wade stands for democrat and not douche like I always thought.

When Shawn retires, I think he’s gonna wish he spent more time enjoying the game and less worrying about other people’s perception of him. He just seems like a miserable person.

    Co sign russ.

  • http://www.bbl.org.uk Josh D

He will be out in the same amount of time he spent in Miami, and for the same reasons that he left Miami and the valley of the sun

Anton- You must be either a very ill-informed American, or you just made the WORST attempt at a joke based on Canadian societal benefits EVER.

I mean, you try walking into a doctor’s office in Canada while high on marijuana and sexifying a 16 year old and see what it gets you.
My guess is a 2-year prison sentence.

^you don’t use all 3 at the same time you moron. obviously someone’s a n00b.

16 is the age of consent in Canada? And the herb is in Vancouver. Also, Doctors are not police.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

Yep, 16 is the age of consent in Canada. Actually, before 2008 it was 14. There’s also a close-in-age clause that permits 14 and 15 years olds with people that are 19-20. We’re débbonnaire like that, you puritans. Puritans or straight stupid, whichever. Can someone explain to me how a 19-year-old can go to jail and basically eff up his life because he got head from a 17-year-old?

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

ciolkstar, if you believe the herb is in van-city.. i’m just assuming that you’ve never been to montreal.

  • Jerome

Shawn Marion is a stud ont he court. Fans get caught up in how media portrays a person, but remember he needs a contract and needs to embrace whatever team he is playing for that’s the nature of the business you idiots. Fans take things to personal if you ever met Shawn Marion he’s probably one of the nicest guys in the league. And the PHX situation was because management flat out lied to the guy. So please fans before you bash a guy understand the facts first.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

There is a two year age difference clause in the US so a 19 year old can’t get in trouble for getting with a 17 year old. But I submit that a 19-20 year old getting with a 14-15 year old is not debonnaire, its F*CKED UP. Seriously, thats too young. And no, I’ve never been to Montreal or Vancouver, but I know the herb is more prevalent on the west coast of canada, not to say it isnt available all over.

  • http://www.kicksonfire.com Anton

Van is the herb capital in terms of quality.
As far as the age difference, if you don’t get caught it’s not a crime. ;)

  • Blinguo

Nobody in Toronto is exactly screaming “We got Shawn Marion Ya’ll!!” In other news Shawn Marion likes the Jordan $190, it will get you runnin and gunnin, unlike his old digs – those hold me back sneaks.

  • Blinguo

By the way, this is exactly what Ben Wallace said after he went to Chicago. Not the same situation of course, but damn – broken record spinning backwards in a time warp.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

JO was expendable as soon as they realized that Bargs is a big and not a wing. You can’t pay 20 mil for a 6th man. All in all, Shawn looks like a good fit in T.O. He can play some at 4 when they go small. Actually, he could teach Joey Graham to be Shawn Marion. If that makes sense.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Ironically, Shawn Marion is probably the league’s BEST do-it-all garbage man, up there with Lamar Odom. I… can’t wait to see how this’ll all work out for the Raps. Am kinda skeptical as to how this’ll work out though. All that said though, Shawn was lucky to have played the first decade or so on the same team, but he’s on his 3rd team in just as many seasons now, and he should try and start learning how to not burn bridges every stop of the way.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

@ Z: Bargnani is not a wing? He’s been playing well, don’t get me wrong, but I’m pretty sure a 7’0 footer who camps at the three point line before even thinking about getting down-low, should be considered a wing.

  • Joel Godin

It’s better for the Raps and for Shawn. Miami are not that good. The Raptors will get their shoes and will be ready to kick some but with that running offense And this is a Fact and it will be prove tonight against cleveland

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Toronto is the best city in Canada.
    Sorry, but its the truth.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Why are all my comments awaiting moderation? Including this one?

  • BostonBaller

I think Marion is confused withing himself. If he wasn’t talented he would have already faded into obscurity. (That will happen in a season or two. It’s sad when a player thinks he is better than he really is. He is good but he can only shine in certain situations. A truly gifted player can shine in any situation.

  • http://nicekicks.com MeloMan13

@Z: i never knew thats what could go down. so say i’m 18, can I get head from a 17 year old legally?

  • http://www.DreAllDay.com Dre Baldwin

Shawn Marion is the SF on the “Just Wanna Have Fun” All Stars; Larry Hughes is the SG and Tim Thomas is the PF.

  • Orlando Green

Marion loves to burn his bridges!

  • Orlando Green

Montreal is better than Toronto….Trust…T.dot is boooorinnnggg!

  • cneww

god dam, so much hate on the raps! i think shawn marion will do fine, not as good as pheonix days, but fine. who cares if he likes toronto better than miami

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

I would still want Marion back in PHX. Particularly now that we are uptempo again. It’s the syndrome of not knowing your on a great wicket because it’s all you knew… being drafted by PHX and getting to play the way he has these past 7 years or had been PERFECT for him, now he just wants back.

  • Uzi

Marion is such a suck up!!!!! SCREW U MATRIX…

  • RUTAX

I had soo much respect for shawn till he said that….that just says that hes not that type of a player…i still love Miami…stuff marion..they’ll do off better with jermaine..but im not sure with the financial view

  • ednowski

in what universe is the miami heat a contender? & why, when talking about playing in toronto, is it too cold to play there but new york or chicago is a great city? & why do people always bag on a canadian accent & never mention how ridiculous new yorkers sound?
