by Lang Whitaker

Just got word from the NBA that Chris Bosh will miss the All-Star Game with a sprained right knee. His replacement? Mo Williams. So stop making up words, Cavs, your boy made the team…

Cavs fans: “We don’t even want your nomination!”

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

shouldnt it be a big man? meka?

  • Bostwik

i still think VC would have been a better choice

  • mike

Slowly the ASG is making sense

  • J-O

oh wow you guys have this up before espn dope

  • Candice

So the East only has two bigs in Howard and KG?

  • The other Mike

Are you kidding me? Vince still isnt on the team? This is straight fuked up

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

    Full-court press.

  • http://wherethenbareallyhappens.blogspot.com Collin

the basketball gods are trying to send a message. he didn’t voted into the ASG, so they had to keep injuring people in the east until he finally made it. either that or mo went to chris bosh’s house and fuc*ed up his knee so that he could take his place. Anyway he deserves this spot as much, if not more than some other people that made it. Congratulations Mo!!!!

It’s a good thing All-Star games rarely are grind-it-out affairs, or the small number of big men could really bite the East.

  • http://www.kicksonfire.com Anton

    Wicked. It’s great, it’s awesome, it’s…grawsome!

  • http://blog.allenwalkerdesign.com Allen Walker

    KG’s a big?

  • BOB

could have cropped the picture better for the front page
and yeah, Vince would be better

  • The other Mike

Hopefully AI drops out and gives his spot to VC, its only fair…

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

vince is having a great year. i cant wait to see what david west will do during the allstar game, oh wait, he wont be noticed

  • Scott

Bosh’s knee is really that messed up? The East is gonna be dominated inside as soon as Howard or KG go on the bench…

And as a Raptor fan, I couldn’t be happier with the VC snub!

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

    how about josh smith?

  • riggs

he shouldnt have been in the first place sorry.

  • Scott

So, Durant, Joe Johnson and OJ Mayo are playing G-E-I-C-O? Sounds pretty good if it’s true.

  • Scott

Lang you’ve gotta be thrilled that your boy is in it!

  • http://sportcetera.blogspot.com/ LeoneL

good for mo. but i think david lee deserve to be in the asg too. oh well, maybe next year.

  • JP

    Mo Williams?

(And not once did Derek Harper ever make an All-Star team. *sigh*)

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com/ Michael NZ

Wow. NO bigs. Meh… the game itself mostly is garbage anyways.

  • finest hour

    how about Iguodala

  • Jess

gotta love the NBA, replacing a C (who is actually a PF) with a G…thats too bad for CB, hes definately deserves it with the way he has played this season…I just hope hes back on the court soon…

  • Jess

hahah@ Scott with the VC snub, I agree with you..I dont think Bosh’s knee is that bad, it was just the timing of the injury, and even if he missed the next two games, I dont think it would look good if his first game back was the ASG…And we both know that if our team is going to make their final push for that 8th spot..we need everyone healthy and ready to go (something we havent seen since the first 3 games of the season…3-0)

  • http://thesportsdiaryonline.blogspot.com Roy

    Congrats Mo!!! :D

  • Candice

I guess the East can do without another center, they alsmost beat the West in ’04 being real small.

  • MeloMan13

i dont kno why Bosh wouldn’t play. its not like the extra rest will save their season

  • Rob

Jesus christ Carter left 5YEARS AGO just let it go!!!woop dee doo a player was unhappy with his team and knew the only way out was to play with less effort and now he’s gone on to better things :-) you bitter idiot.

  • Oli

mek or big z anyone? who’s gonna play center when howard and kg are out? lewis? granger?

  • Oli

oh, i just read on nba.com that “durant and oj mayo (0 all-star games combined) highlight the h-o-r-s-e field”. the third competitor? joe johnson (3-time all-star). lang’s gonna love that.

  • Marco

Mo Williams an All Star? What the f… is wrong with this league these days? Vince is having a great season, Iguodala is nice, too. These are the kind of guys you wanna see in an All Star Game! Don’t get me wrong, Mo is a good player but nothing more! What about Hedo in Orlando, since he was robbed last year? What about Rondo? DRose? Josh Smith? And anyways, how about replacing a big guy with another big guy? So it should have been Josh or Emeka!

  • ClydeSays

Wow. Now you can complain your way into the ASG? Congrats Mo!

  • niQ

lol marco has some good points. apparantely Stern chose williams.. i thought it was supposed to be based on fan voting.

  • Juliusj14

Deron Williams should be in the game for Chris Paul. He is averaging 18.8 now(same as last year despite being hurt early)and 10 assists(second int the nba). I dont want him to snubbed again because he missed games and struggled early on. He is back and he has been playing outstanding over the last few months.

  • Mike_Jones

Wow…Mo Williams is fetching garbage. I hope he feels good about himself, whining his way into the ASG. Vince or Iguodala or Josh Smith definitely should be there instead of him. And if we’re talking about All Star snubs, how about Deron Williams? Despite the injuries he has led the team to a pretty decent record and is tearing it up. He averages almost 20 points, 10 assists, and 3 boards…compared to Mo Williams who averages 17 points and 4 assists, give me a break. Lebron is that whole team.

  • Todd Spehr

To quote the great Derrick Coleman: Whoop de damn doo!

  • Ian

no one was crying for MO Will to be an all star last year when he was with the bucks. Almost the same averages. Too bad about Bosh, hes played well in his other ASG.

  • donlaker

after seeing mo williams get kicked in the face by kobe , and the cavs losing in a sunday showdown,
david stern felt it his duty to pass up vince carter, d rose, david lee… bosh get well soon politics, politics, i wonder did la bron have a say in this………..

  • http://idunkonthem.blogspot.com/ albie1kenobi

with a lineup like that, d’antoni should be at least an assistant coach. have bron at 4 and put in a 3 guard lineup for the whole game. they have to.

  • http://hoops4life.com overtime

    Mo way!!!

  • Cp34mVP

    Whoo Moey!

  • taylor

Great. Now Mo and the rest of the Cavs can stop whining and bitching!

  • b0dj

first there was barkley as the resident physically gifted with freakish skills/cry baby of the nba now comes lebron james.wow
whatta coincidence.i guess thats why he’s so mad at barkley.i guess the more youre alike the more you hate.hahah
this article should be entitled “lebron whined mo williams into all star game”
    congrats mo!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    Congrats to Mo!

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

Mo shoulda been replaced over Nelson.
David Lee shoulda replaced Chris Bosh.
Vince Carter should NOT be an all-star. Sorry.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

@ Jukai: I agree, David Lee should have replaced Chris Bosh. But Ray Allen should definitely be an All-Star.
I’d replace Paul Pierce with Mo!

  • Witness

so if bibby or calderon were playing for the cavs he would deserve that vacant spot?

  • Witness

give the spot to david lee. he is an all star.

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com Dutch Rich

Lee ain’t no allstar. Allstars get calls from the ref. Lee ain’t no allstar.

  • Will Lee

    chi lan sin

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

jesus. And Vinsanity isn’t? Weak. Now about amare being a starter…. Dirk better pull a Tonya Harding on him, damnit!

  • juliusj14

Deron Williams is clearly the biggest snub he has slowly returned to being a one of the top two PGs in the league and nobody has noticed. He should replace Chris Paul. His avegarges are nearly equal to last year’s.

  • wilz

so, dwight and garnett are essentially the centres, and lebron will play the PF? this is MESSED UP

  • buggsie7_aus

iguodala deserves it more than williams

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

    Teddy: Okay, I can co-sign.
Witness: Has Bibby or Calderon dropped 43-8-11 yet? Well?
juliusj14: Anyone who has played less than half the season and has lost 50% of his defense doesn’t deserve an all-star birth.

  • Juliusj14

Jukai: He’s played in 38 of the 52 games that the Jazz have played meaning he’s only missed 14 games not even close to half the season. He’s playing better than any point guard in the NBA besides Chris Paul. He has way better numbers than All-Star guards Jameer Nelson, Mo Williams, and Tony Parker. He averages a double-double. Everyone acts as if he just got back from injury. He has played the same amount of games as Tony Parker, who made the All-Star team despite the fact that Deron Williams averages more assists, has a higher efficiency, and probably would be averaging more points than Parker if he hadn’t came back when he wasn’t hundred percent. Its a travesty that the second best point guard in the NBA has never been an All-Star even though he was Second Team All-NBA last year and is on pace to do it again with his numbers and increasing production.

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

Hey, dude has been out shorter than I thought… I guess it’s cause he did come back at 60%… but he STILL DOESN’T DESERVE AN ALL-STAR NOD.
You’re overrating his stats: 18 points, 10 assists, 46% shooting, 32 from the three-point stripe, and really nothing else to boast about except for his massive 3.58 turnovers a game. His scoring has gone up a helluva notch since the last time I checked it, since averaging 32 points in the last five games… but it’s just too slow of a start to get an all-star nod. Utah is struggling to even get a playoff spot, and I know that’s because they’re injured, but to fall off so drastically with Boozer injured… and for Boozer to keep the team so up float without Deron… well that’s just not a good sign.

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

That being said, if Deron (or Nash or Terry or pretty much anyone) was in the East, they’d get an all-star nod in a heart beat.

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

and if it means anything Juliusj14, I wasn’t for Parker making the all-star team either, I thought Big Al shoulda got the nod.

  • Manumaniac

Tony Parker shouldn’t be an All-Star. That is all crap! Baron Davis and Ginobili should be All Stars last year, instead of David West and Brandon Roy, and Deron Williams should be All Star this year, instead of Parker. What the hell is wrong with the NBA All Star Game selections lately? Why do the fans and the coaches always select players that shouldn’t be there? Allen Iverson shouldn’t be at the All Star Game this year! This situation really pisses me on!

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

You know what pisses me off more than the NBA All-star selection?
Brainless fans named “Manumaniacs” pushing their oft-injured, aging shooting guard ahead of someone who actually deserves an all-star nod. Also, thinking Baron Davis deserves anything.
    The end.

  • Manumaniac

Ginobili deserved to be an All-Star last year and that’s a fact. Besides, the fact that he was selected to the All-NBA Third Team instead of Brandon Roy or David West proves that and more. By the way, Ginobili played 74 games last year (the same number as B-Roy), plus the playoffs

  • Manumaniac

Ginobili should be an All-Star last year and that’s a fact. He was better than B-Roy and D-West last year and that’s the reason why he was selected to the All-NBA Third Team instead of your guys. Oh, and by the way, about that “oft-injured” thing, Manu played 74 games last year (as many as Roy), plus the playoffs (17 games). Also, he was more productive (19.5 points in 31.1 minutes, Roy had 19.1 in 37.7 minutes) and he was playing to a championship contender team (Spurs are not Trail-Jailers, you know). Check your notes next time, junior. I’m not gonna get pissed by you, because you are way to ignorant to judge anybody. Especially Manu.
    The end.

  • slamfan4life

Rose shoulda taken Bosh’s place since all Mo and the Cavs did were complain

  • Pingback: SLAM ONLINE | » L.O.N. — Lamar Duncan James The Third

  • starbury&stevey

Jukai gets schooled…but BigAl should make the team last year and this year,so you´re both wrong…the stats dont lie.

  • Juliusj14

Jukai: I agree that Al Jefferson should be on the team but he should have probably been in the game over Shaq or David West and plus Jefferson is injured now. If Chris Paul cant play then Deron Williams is the best possible choice in the West for his replacement. Anybody else would be a let down and Jason Terry is also hurt.

  • underdog

David Lee should have got the spot. Mo Williams is a good support player, but not an all-star caliber.

  • Juliusj14

T-Mac should be in it. LOL!

  • http://www.bbl.org.uk Josh D

1.Congrats to Mo should have been on the all star team when Nelson got injured
    2. Why are they replacing a Centre with a guard, when you don’t have any other player on te team who can even play power forward, let alone centre

  • CHE

I find this a odd selection. I thought they replace the all star with someone of the same position? Not to say Mo Williams didn’t deserve to play over Ray Allen but I think the League kenw that and so instead of getting another big man who kinda deserved to be there they got someone who definately deserved to be there.

  • http://myspace.com/arodakaroman and1ballermj2350

    The east needs Manute Bol

  • anthony

Who the hell is Mo Williams?

A freakin nobody? An all star?

This has got to be a joke.

  • ab_40

and he’s replacing nelson in the skills challenge

cuzz you know he’s such an amazing point guard.

    it’s a shamockery

  • anthony

sorry people. as far as i know the all star team is a collection of the best players across the league. more specifically across each conference.

and not simply one of the best players in a particular team’s bench.

he should not suit up. cleveland may love him there. but the rest of the league will just laugh at him.

  • jose

i knew mo was gonna be an all-star. It scares me that im right tho.Superman,KG,vs yao, Shaq,Pau,Big Timmy,And Dirk. wow. maybe lebron will help them out.

  • http://www.kicksonfire.com Anton

ummm this “nobody” just dropped 44 points and 7 assists

  • Manumaniac

So Mo (Williams) Is An All-Star After All, But Deron (Williams) Isn’t… Am I the only one who thinks that this is extremely weird?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

My question then…is there no back up centre then..?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Yeah its going to be awesome to watch DWADE and LEBRON tear the front line of the west apart.

  • Manumaniac

By the way, this is the second straight season that Hedo Turkolgu gets snubbed. And I’m not completely sure that Rashard Lewis deserves it more than this Turkish clutch scorer…

  • Juliusj14

Deron Williams just had another 30 point game. Thats Five straight. Deron gets no respect.

  • Manumaniac

I guess the only way for Deron to get more respect is to be selected for the second straight year to an All-NBA team. I wonder what are all NBA coaches going to think, when he makes it (again).

  • gilmarts

Mo deserves it because Lebron James said so! LOL! By the way, a lot of players deserve to be there but there is a limit on number of players who are allowed to play so better stop pushing other great players who didn’t made it! Congratulations Mo! Prove it to everybody that you deserve it! I believe in you!
