The Knicks Promise Not to Be Humiliated Tonight
As part of their hilariously-named “Dream Week”, members of the New York Knicks organization have been waking up in a cold sweat the last few days. The League’s two biggest stars have laid waste to their team, and now the defending champs are on tap.
According to the Knicks, it’s time to stop the bleeding, and more importantly, not be in awe of the opponent.
From the NY Times:
“I think they succumbed to that,” D’Antoni said. “I think that’s one of our problems. They think that we were playing Kobe or playing LeBron. It’s Knicks-Cavaliers. We have to change our mentality. There’s a lot of teams that have certain things you can’t stop, but we can’t let that get us down.”
Always one to accentuate the positive, D’Antoni said he believed that both games, against championship contenders, were winnable, an encouraging notion for a team that won 23 games last season. The Knicks also believe they showed significant improvement from Monday to Wednesday. “I feel like the way we’re playing, if we play this way versus Portland and the other teams we have coming up, we’ll win those games,” Al Harrington said.
Right. In other words, you can safely pencil in Paul Pierce for something like 40 points.
