The Knicks Promise Not to Be Humiliated Tonight

by Marcel Mutoni

As part of their hilariously-named “Dream Week”, members of the New York Knicks organization have been waking up in a cold sweat the last few days. The League’s two biggest stars have laid waste to their team, and now the defending champs are on tap.

According to the Knicks, it’s time to stop the bleeding, and more importantly, not be in awe of the opponent.

From the NY Times:

“I think they succumbed to that,” D’Antoni said. “I think that’s one of our problems. They think that we were playing Kobe or playing LeBron. It’s Knicks-Cavaliers. We have to change our mentality. There’s a lot of teams that have certain things you can’t stop, but we can’t let that get us down.”

Always one to accentuate the positive, D’Antoni said he believed that both games, against championship contenders, were winnable, an encouraging notion for a team that won 23 games last season. The Knicks also believe they showed significant improvement from Monday to Wednesday. “I feel like the way we’re playing, if we play this way versus Portland and the other teams we have coming up, we’ll win those games,” Al Harrington said.

Right. In other words, you can safely pencil in Paul Pierce for something like 40 points.

first. a promise is a promise

  • BostonBaller Posted: Feb.6 at 11:04 am
Of course they can promise that b/c they don’t think the C’s have a player who can light it up like the other 2 did. Pierce did have 46 a few years agao and if Ray gets going and they feed him he could still go for 30 plus. I say they keep feeding E House and see if he can hit 20 3’s. lol.

Let’s see…..a pissed off Celts team…..the Garden….another really good scorer SF……uhm….I bet PP goes for about 40.

  • Mike Posted: Feb.6 at 11:15 am
How is losing to the Cavs by 5 points a humiliation? The 46 point loss last year to the C’s was a humiliation.

  • BETCATS Posted: Feb.6 at 11:18 am
    Ray Allen will drop 60.

  • Doc Funk Posted: Feb.6 at 11:20 am
Big Baby goes 2 for 14, but one of those jumpers will be timely so nobody will criticize him for it.

  • riggs Posted: Feb.6 at 11:58 am
the knicks are the punching bag of the top four teams

  • AlbertBarr Posted: Feb.6 at 12:24 pm
The last time the C’s lost to the lakers and had a win streak snapped, they got worked the next night on the road by the Warriors. Don’t count the knicks out yet…

  • Ulee Posted: Feb.6 at 12:28 pm
SMH, my Knicks tweets have been at an all time low this week, along with my Knicks pride … @Mike it’s not the 5 point lost, it’s the 52 points and triple double by Lebron(something most of the greats have not done at MSG) that followed the 62 point game by Kobe.

Only problem, it’s not the Knicks choice.

  • Bryan Posted: Feb.6 at 1:48 pm
The knicks really have improved though, the big nights like these are just the nature of the beast that is a Dantoni coached team.

  • tealish Posted: Feb.6 at 1:49 pm
lol @ doc funk. I was befaffled myself, at last night’s game where Big Baby was their GO-TO GUY down the stretch???

  • what Posted: Feb.6 at 2:56 pm
    Poor Wilson Chandler.

  • witness Posted: Feb.6 at 3:29 pm
paul peirce has to have a career night in some category. i say three pointers made.

  • jackyl Posted: Feb.6 at 3:34 pm
@tealish: you dont want big baby taking the 2 biggest shots of the night? That shot with Pau in his face with 20 seconds left was what doc drew up.

  • vtrobot Posted: Feb.6 at 4:30 pm
The Knicks showing up for a game = humiliation.

  • and1ballermj2350 Posted: Feb.6 at 4:39 pm
poor poor knicks. I bet those fans miss the days of Latrell, Larry J, Patrick abd Travis night. Ha!

  • DeMarco Posted: Feb.6 at 5:40 pm
Rondo gets at least 15 assists tonight…

  • ciolkstar Posted: Feb.6 at 5:49 pm
I NEED that to happen DeMarco…
I could actually see Rondo being the guy who goes off with a huge triple dip.

  • ab_40 Posted: Feb.6 at 6:57 pm
if only they had jerome james back from his injury he would surely turn the season and the D around

  • donlaker Posted: Feb.6 at 7:26 pm
some tequila and the knicks , or some titties and beer and the clippers , i have to think about it, i hope big baby gets the ball more tonight because his shot is starting to come around and he should be putting up 10 shots per game…
are the lakers in the celtics head because it seems like it where is rondo…..

  • donlaker Posted: Feb.6 at 7:30 pm
ray can go for 47 tonight im sure nate robinson
    cant stay with rondo

  • BostonBaller Posted: Feb.6 at 9:08 pm
Looks like the C’s haven’t shown up for the game yet and uit’s half time already…We better get it going or the SLAM onliners will be merciless. lol

  • truthteller Posted: Feb.6 at 9:57 pm
paul Pierce will have 45 and KG will have 60 ’cause he’s mad from last night

  • truthteller Posted: Feb.6 at 9:57 pm
    And Rondo’s a little punk!

  • BostonBaller Posted: Feb.6 at 10:02 pm
4th qtr and the C’s just showed up! About time!! The Garden crowd was chanting Boston Sucks!! until the dunk, steal and long J by the C’s. lol. i like David Lee’s bulldozer bump dribble, somehow he draws the foul time after time. He initiates the contact and draws the foul, the last one fouled Ray out. wow…No complaints and no worries

  • MalevolentKing7242 Posted: Feb.7 at 12:07 am
I feel sorry for the knicks their team was burned to death and they got no wins out of this.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Feb.8 at 1:33 am
Uhh, the Knicks all played close games with the Cavs and Lakers. The only things special are the individual performances.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Feb.8 at 1:34 am
@ donlaker: You mean because Nate is faster than Rondo? Because he is.

  • chintao Posted: Feb.9 at 10:32 pm
Portland apparently did not read D’Antoni’s comments.
