Trade: Morrison to L.A.; Vlad Rad to Charlotte

As of today, Adam Morrison and his wispy mustache are headed to the City of Angels in exchange for Vladimir Radmanovich. The throw-in in the deal is Shannon Brown.

The Lakers today traded forward Vladimir Radmanovic, 29, to the Charlotte Bobcats for two third-year players, forward Adam Morrison and guard Shannon Brown.

Overall, the deal will save the Lakers more than $8 million in salary cap space over the next two seasons. “We feel we picked up two players that could have upside,” Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak said. “We pick up some flexibility down the road with a shorter commitment vs. Vlade’s commitment.”

The financials make perfect sense for the Lakers, but basketball-wise, this changes next to nothing. The only reason this is even worth a mention is the fun that will be watching and reading about the relationship between Phil Jackson and Adam Morrison.

Larry Brown’s head, by the way, just exploded.

    Shannon Brown? I don’t know much about him … is he a good defender even? Like a back up for Ariza. Because then why do we have Powell?

    Great move by the Lakeshow. Shannon Brown needs some veterans to help him develop, and Adam Morrison potentially gets a ring for sitting on his @ss! Its a win-win situation!

    The Lakers have a solid bench … for about 3 people. And now i am questioning the thought process here. Now the pine riders are: Adam, Josh, Chris, Brown, DJ … all guys taking up space.

    Hopefthis doesn’t ruin the Chemistry … Vlad would be good for the playoffs. He knows the triangle, he is 6″10′ and rebounds half descent. And shoots very well for the Lakers AND this season!!

    Powell’s a solid role player, ala Kurt Thomas. Sets picks, hits shots, plays decent defense. He’s a keeper in my book.

    Powell doesn’t hit THAT many shots. I would take Thomas way before Powell lol. Go check the the raps game against the Lake Show.

    I don’t like this deal for the Lakers. Sure, he was a defensive liability but Vlad’s streaky shooting has been the x-factor for the Lakers earlier in the season. Lakers always got out to big leads when he knocked down a few early three pointers. And I have no idea how Shannon Brown can fit into their rotation.

    We now have 3 parts of a team. We have our Starters … but mixed with them as our second part is the “good” bench. Who can start on any other night. And then we have the part of the bench that actually sits farther away from Phil and Jack Nicholson.

    It is weird though … he still has his mustache but only half, he cut the ends off and has only about and inch left in the middle …

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Fu(k yeah! We got somebody with playoff experience to fill in for G-Force AND we got rid of Morrison. I will miss Shannon with all my heart, but he is a huge reason why we lost the Hawks game last night. He is also a huge reason why we beat LA. Hopefully he will do well in LA. As for Morrison, he deserves a whole comment about him, that is comming up next.

    Morrison sucks a$$. I tried to defend him, but now that he is gone, let the bashing begin. His confidence level is at 0. For example, against Denver, everytime he missed a shot he would make this real sad, mopey expression and walk down court with his head down. He showed some flashes of brilliance earlier in the season, and he did block Greg Oden, HOWEVER he was absolutely awful 95% of the time.

    James: Shannon Brown is a combo guard. You should recall him from about 5-6 days ago when he came off the bench, and in about 25 minutes, destroyed the Lakers.

    “this changes next to nothing” typical Laker fan reaction. We get a rotation player that started in your finals run, you get 2 first round picks, out of which only 1 (Shannon Brown) has any hope of being a above decent player.

    Agreed with you on that BET. And BET … I hope Rad goes snow boarding. And does it matter if he has playoff experience. Doesn’t your team, you know … have to make it to the playoff’s for the experience to kick in?

    James, we are 10th in the east, 4th in our division, BUT we have more wins now that we ever had at this point in the season. Plus with Boris Diaw + Raja Bell + Juwan Howard + Diop + Nazr and now + Vlad-Rad we got a group of guys that knows how to get to the playoffs in the NBA and can help lead the younger players too.

    Keep your hopes up BET. One day they will be winners … in the east. You don’t even need to have more wins then losses to go to the playoffs over there. So hopefully the Bobcats can win more games then the other losers lost… I think.
