Chris Bosh Fails to Find the Humor in Your RuPaul Jokes

by Marcel Mutoni

Speaking publicly for the first time since Shaq ethered him in front of the whole world, CB4 expressed displeasure at the personal attack from one of the League’s biggest stars.

Though certainly upset, Bosh refused to let it get personal. The Toronto Sun reports:

“I didn’t laugh or anything, it wasn’t funny,” Bosh said yesterday at the Air Canada Centre. “I was kind of upset with that. He has been around the league for awhile and I expected a lot more professionalism out of him. I thought we were cool. Whatever.”

After giving his side, Bosh wanted to let the matter drop. “I won’t get into a war of words,” Bosh said. “He’s not my friend, I don’t really know him. I don’t care about that stuff. It’s done. Let’s talk about basketball. He’s one of the great big men. Let’s leave it at that.”

Shaq: making new friends since 1993!

I’ll never stop being amazed at the fact that O’Neal is, quite literally, the only guy in the League who can get away with this stuff. Oh right, he’s a sensitive fella. Never mind.

RuPaul is pissed being compared to such an ugly dude

  • Beastley

O’Neal can get away with such things because no one in their right mind would dare fight him. What the Vince Tomas article on nba.com said about the trauma O’Neal has inflicted on his contemporaries also holds true for off the court quarelling. You don’t fµck with the big Aristotle.

    sometimes, shaq is just retarded

Didn’t Bosh used to be funny?I mean he did those bits for the Tonight Show,so I guess not.

Im through with Shaq. Seriously. I can’t believe that Kobe might have been right the whole time. He IS a douche. Well, so is Kobe so… I dunno.

  • http://allanzuss@yahoo.com Mendel

Ah ha ha. He reacted like a RuPaul. Ah ha ha.

  • The Seed

I am glad Shaq is showing his true side, he is all talk, because he is really really big. Bosh should have took a shot at him. I would have, just like Kobe did, ran the Big Cactus out the door. He needs to be call the Big Senitivity Alien, since he used to be Superman, now he is the old Clark Kent, who got beat up in the diner, trying to be human, he needs to go get some crystals, fast.

Well when you take things out of context like the media often does, Bosh’s statement about Shaq did sound like whining so I can understand why Shaq permanently christened Bosh as RuPaul in response to those quotes. However, Shaq’s unprovoked trashing of Dwight was over the top and he seems to be going downhill. Hopefully, he stays relatively classy in the future as he prepares to make his exit.

  • Kostas

Shaq can get away with almost everything for many reasons, but mainly because at a certain point the entire media decided to brainwash everyone that Shaq is “the funniest guy ever”. Anyone remember the first 6-7 years of his career? Shaq was considered one of the worst interviews in the league, he was made fun of for being dull! Then he started being goofy and outgoing, and everyone went near crazy. Suddenly he was Fun Shaq, the big goofy guy you can’t get mad at. And we totally forgot how mean and thoughtlessly insulting he could be. To me, it’s no surprise.

  • http://slam weezyleezy

He said “i was kinda upset” HAHA what a punk. Bosh do got game though. These war of words aint really nothin. Settle it on the court

  • Sesa

Man, I liked Bosh’s game but the hair gotta go

  • Gumdrop

I’ve been getting sick of Shaq for about 8 years now. He’s an insecure man who needs to have his ego stroked by the friendly glare of a TV camera. He burns bridges everywhere he goes, and pouts worse than Kobe.

  • mike

    Cosign Sesa

  • Syk

Sorry CB4, I found Shaq’s comment hilarious. PS Make it out of the first round.

  • http://theghostofroyhobbs.blogspot.com Mo Charlo

Amidst all of this, you missed that Chris Bosh handled this in a classy fashion. Instead of inviting another 46 and 11 beatdown, he just said something nice about Shaq and left it at that.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ BETCATS

“He’s not my friend, I don’t really know him. I don’t care about that stuff. It’s done. Let’s talk about basketball. He’s one of the great big men. Let’s leave it at that.” That is the way Kobe should have handled his situation. Bosh is smart.

Shaq is all talk? Four rings = all talk? Hmm…

Good for Chris. He showed Kazaam how the grown-ups do it.

  • Candyman

    Who the macaroni is RuPall?

  • Candyman

OMG! i just saw who Rupaul is. LOL LOL LOL
    SHAQ is the man!

    Kazaaaaaaaaaaam! LOL

  • vtrobot

As much as I like the pre-ASG dancing, I almost prefer the d*ck Shaq to the fun/goofy Shaq ’cause that garbage gets really corny sometimes. I would agree that no average human should ever fight Shaq, but there’s got to be a couple people in the league who could beat Shaq in a 1 on 1 cage match. Despite all that size, the only time that I’ve see Shaq take a swing at someone’s head (Brad Miller’s) he missed the whole thing by a mile.

  • riggs

shaq cant fight… and it doesnt matter how big someone is, a punch in the right place with the right swing can knock anyone down.

  • riggs

unless youre nate robinson….but he does have hops….

  • Diesel

Shaq is a fat b*tch that needs to stop hating on everyone else. No one else in the league was rolling out the fat jokes on him when he was averaging 10 and 7. And Shaq’s fat @ss wouldn’t knock anyone out…that swing he took at B. Miller a few years ago was the most awkward looking thing I’ve ever seen…it was the swing of a man who has never had to fight because people are intimidated by him.

  • http://www.kicksonfire.com Anton

You’re lucky Shaq didn’t address the receding hairline of your girlfriend

  • KobeStopper

The reason why nobody can talk back to Shaq is because nobody else has done the stuff he’s done. Who else has 4 championships? Duncan, Parker and Ginobli (does Ginobli have 4?) that’s it. And Parker and Ginobli haven’t been anywhere near as dominant as The Diesel. The only person left in the league that can even be mentioned in the same breath as Shaq is Tim Duncan.

  • Yann Blavec’s wife’s husband

@ KObeStopper : Parker has “only” won 3 titles. Avery Johnson was running the point in 1999 for the first title. I’m too lazy checking on Basketball-reference.com, but I guess El MAnu has won 3 titles, too.

  • http://apeachbasketandadream.wordpress.com/ Peach B.

This has nothing to do with how many titles he has. It has everything to do with the type of person that he is. I hate it when athletes make bonehead comments or step out of line and people back it up with well he has x amount of titles. So what? I will excuse everything Shaq does on the court (outside of refusing to help Wade up) because of his titles but his constantly running mouth can’t be excused.

  • Clark Kent

Well said Peach B. The amount of championships do no equate to having class.

  • Clark Kent

And to some of the comments I just simply say, ignorance is bliss.

  • speedy

Wouldn’t it be funny if Charles Barkley was still in the NBA and he and Shaq would have a war of words .
But hey today’s stars don’t do that anymore.
    Really sad !

  • speedy

Wouldn’t it be funny if Charles Barkley still was in the league and he would have a war of words with Shaq.
It’s really boring that today’s stars act so grown up.

  • speedy

Funny. My first Comment didn’t appear till I sent the second one.

  • http://vnsny.org Spaceship Jay

You know, this takes me back to a “war with words” I had with another blogger on SLAM. It was related to the undisputable softness of today’s NBA. What a foul was back then is a flagrant now. What a hard foul was back then is a flagrant 2 now. And players complain about anything lighter. Both Bosh and Dwight need to shut up, workout, and bust Shaq’s @$$. Either that or just have something equally witty and hurtfull to say! That’s what MEN used to do before the Post-Jordan era.

  • Leeboy

Hey don’t write a check that your @$$ can’t cash. Don’t say anything about Shaq and expect for him to let it go duh!!!!

  • doyouwantmore

Someone made a good comment above. It would have been easy to bust out the fat jokes on Shaq a little while ago but most people had more respect and class than that. And don’t even say it’s because they ‘fear’ the fat kid. I think Stephen Jackson would kick Shaq’s ass.

  • donlaker

ru pual is a drag queen who sings for those who dont know..
and shaqtus el cactus is just some ole bloke who
is still trying to be relavant, i wonder how amare and other suns really feel about size 22

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

“Either that or just have something equally witty and hurtfull to say! That’s what MEN used to do before the Post-Jordan era.” MEN before the Post-Jordan era were sarcastic bitches?

  • http://vnsny.org Spaceship Jay

No, Men before the Post Jordan Era would Either call him a fat-has been bastard, Bust his @$$, or slapped him like a money-owed Charles Oakley. Read slower Joel.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    HAHAHA Co-Sign Joel O’s.
    Shaq is a childish punk.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Charles Oakley would bust Shaq’s @ss. No doubt.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Yeah, Spaceship, I get where you’re going, I was just trying to be snide. Shaq wouldn’t be able to run his mouth in this day and age, even at this stage in his career, if there was someone who’d stand up to him and slug him hard enough that he’d shut up and stop this playground bully behavior.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

His last few months with Miami where he got fat and quit on the team, on hindsight, is the most unprofessional performance by a pro baller since VC quit on the Raps. But nobody tells him that because 1.) he’s huge and scary, 2.) he’s got a great legacy, and 3.) as we’ve seen recently, Shaq responds aggressively and bitterly to even the slightest bit of criticism.

you guys forget charles barkley punked shaq’s ass back during his houston days

  • http://sjsu.edu davidR
  • BostonBaller

There’s no cryng in basketball. I don’t think he should have picked Wade up b/c Wade pretty much did an offensive flop and you don’t have to pick a guy up as long as you are cool with each other at the end of the game. Magic and Zeke kissed beofre the game then wrecked each other during then chilled afterwards.

This is basketball folks, why are WE so worked up about this. lol

Cavs vs Celts tonight. I’m skipping prayer service or leaving early. Shhhhh don’t tell jesus.
