CB4, perhaps more than anyone else in the L, works very hard at branding himself and creating a certain public persona. That of an accessible, somewhat goofy, fun-loving guy.
His ex-girlfriend (who became kinda famous last year), though, says there’s an other side to Chris Bosh. The “deadbeat father” side to be precise. And she’ll see him in court.
From the Toronto Star:
Chris Bosh, the face of Toronto’s struggling NBA franchise, is being cast in U.S. court documents as a deadbeat father who broke up with his girlfriend when she was seven months pregnant, leaving her destitute and without medical care even as she fell ill.
[...]
Four-month-old Trinity Meyers Mathis, according to the documents, has laid eyes on her father but twice, both times in his hotel room when the Raptors were in town to face the Wizards. The complaint, which contains allegations that have not been proven in court, says Bosh contested his paternity before genetic testing determined a 99.97 per cent probability that he is Trinity’s father.
Bosh, of course, denies the allegations and his attorneys say they’ll work to clear his name of any wrong doing.

Win a Ring For the King
The LeBron and Shaq show starts now!

That’s like me saying I’m tired of hearing women complain when men dog them out. You gotta know the dogs from the good guys.
That’s ludicrous…
Anyway, if she’s taking him to court, she’ll get paid eventually. Didn’t we learn anything from the Wade saga? Don’t trust what comes out in the original court documents.
He probably hasn’t seen the baby in a while because he’s young and dumb. She probably wants him to keep breaking her off so she can maintain the lifestyle she always had.
They’ll probably work it out. I mean, the baby is four months old. He can’t have been a deadbeat for that long.
However, I think four months in is a little early to be calling Bosh a deadbeat. From the story I read, she is upset because he kicked her out of the house they shared and he stopped taking her to the doctor, or at least paying for her health coverage.
I say, if dude was doing all that for her, something made him stop. Either he’s just an evil bastard, or they had a falling out over something.
We’ll find out eventually.
And how do you know the lifestyle she ‘always had?’ I know we all generalizing, but that’s pretty bold, Allen!
Man up, Bosh.
man…
You are assuming that the events described in a family court filing are fact. Eboy can tell you that is not correct.
The truth is, this is her attorney’s filing to show that Bosh is an unsuitable parent and justify her claim for sole custody and spousal support.
He will make a response in court.
My point is not to say that Bosh is innocent or a good guy. It’s to say it’s far to early and there is far too little information to justify calling him a deadbeat or a loser or scum.
Even from the details released by his ex-girlfriend, there is evidence that they had a thriving strong relationship, which abruptly ended, she says because he went to China and got a big head. I don’t understand why everybody assumes that must be true.
I’m a daddy too, soon to have another son. I totally understand your point about caring for your child.
However, I think that life is complicated and four months is still a little early. Plus, I don’t know for sure what she means be a lack of support.
I find it hard to believe that a former personal chef to the rich was destitute with now vehicle and no medical coverage.
And y’all realize that “breakthrough” bleeding is normal during pregnancy, right? Most women have “spotting” during their pregnancies and my wife has had serious nausea during both of hers.
The young lady says the baby was delivered due to an emergency C-Section in November. She was seven months preggers in August. Y’all do the math.
Emergency C-Section doesn’t mean she’s dying, it could mean the baby is approaching eight pounds or larger and the doctors do not want her to have a vaginal birth.
My point is that this court document is designed to make Bosh appear as bad as possibel and Mathis as sympathetic as possible and it’s working. Just like the probable cause documents filed by the District Attorney are designed to make you look as guilty as possible.
Doesn’t make you guilty.
Tell me it ain’t so Chris..
I’m wondering how many cats on this board had actually been in a long-term committed relationship?
Or, have even had sex with the same woman on a regular basis?
I ask that because y’all are oversimplyfing how men and women interact in relationships, and y’all are greatly underestimating the power of hitting it raw.
If she is a Goldigger and says no you have the documents to back up that you tried to help and be a “Man”.
That’s her meal ticket, she was not about let the opportunity go by…she got pregnant. She might even had told him that she was on the pill…regarless ,he should’ve known.
A lot of these ballers think that they are playas no! these girls are the real “playas”!
They know the game inside out.
If you were confused by my comment, you should have asked for clarification.
Everybody saying “He should have used a condom” might want to think about their own actions when they’ve been in a monogamous relationship with a woman. My own experience is that once you all have established monogamy and committment, one of the first things to go are the condoms.
But, that’s just what I’ve learned.
I didn’t know you were responding to those who were just talking about the whole ‘WRAP UP YOUR TOOL PLAYAS!’ thing.
They’re not reading the link, they’re just mindlessly commentating. Condoms don’t have anything to do with this story.
Really, she’s moving on this pretty fast if anything. Remember how long it took T-Mac’s baby momma to make a move?
But you don’t seem to be familier with the criminal justice system. One doesn’t just go out and sue. Finding legal representation, having the papers go through the state, this all takes a while.
Maybe she didn’t want to just call the guy on TV so she researched. Maybe she was hoping Bosh would take her back after hearing his kid was born so she opted out of it. Maybe she originally thought she could take care of the kid herself, then realized she couldn’t or was angry about how detached Bosh was. And maybe, perhaps the lawyers decided to gather three months of info (and get out of here about her going to a lawyer eight months pregnant, really, out of this world) before going public with this.
A stretch? Yes. But no more than Bosh not knowing about his baby or Bosh trying to help out his former GF and being turned down and all the things you brought up.
Take your own advice and wait and see the case out Justin. I regret jumping the gun here and bad talking Bosh because at the time, I couldn’t see how he wouldn’t be the villain here, but people have given me more than enough reason to hold my tongue. One should wait and see the reason Bosh’s ex-girlfriend waited the half a year to sue (if child birth and medical recovery isn’t reasonable enough for you).
As for the whole Bosh situation, I can’t help but lean towards the mother. We’ll see once more details are given (or we’ll never know as this will be settled out of court)
I explained to you the “problems” with her pregnancy.
Those are all normal occurences within any pregnancy and her “emergency” C-Section came when she was nine-10 months preggers.
a whole lot of comment on idle speculation. if anything, it sounds like one of those cases where she’s playing him thru the media, and y’all have fallen it like typical suckers… maybe…
There are also different levels of bleeding and nausea that people suffer from during pregnancy. Some people become very sick, as my friend did. Everything was ‘normal’ with her, but she couldn’t hold down anything, couldn’t keep up a conversation without phasing out, and fainted a couple of times.
Things were status quo.
Yet she was very sick.
You get me?
How many times have you been with someone when doctor’s are considering a c-section?
I know for a fact that while doctor’s prefer to let births happen vaginally, c-sections are not as dreaded as they once were, and have been on the increase in America for the past decade. I actually did a story on rising c-section rates and “designer” c-sections.
I’m saying that her story sounds dire at first glance, but look at it closely. She had an upset stomach, some bleeding and a c-section. That describes a huge amount of perfectly normal pregnancies, yet cats on here, including you, assumed that Bosh abandoned her while she was on her deathbed.

I’d have trouble paying child support if my girl would have F’ed around while I was with here. ah well let’s hope dwight doesn’t get in the same trouble as mr bosh here.
It becomes he said ,she said issue. The only way ,he could recover some of his reputation is if his lawyer comes out and says 2 or 3 months ago Chris tried to settle this issue amicably and here are the documents to prove we ‘ve made an effort.
Beside that anything he says or his lawyers say will make look like an incensitive SOB who tried to run away from his responsability.
#2 Deadbeat dad is a strong phrase and to say no support is also strong
#3 No support could mean that he didn’t spend as much time with HER as she would like.
# 4 months isn’t long yet it is the baby’s lifetime BUT he is in the middle of an NBA season so it’s kind of hard to be there like a normal dad would be (no excuses just facts)
# 5 It must sting when you think you are losing out on something you may think you are entitled to
THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE COURT DOCUMENTS THAT STATED THAT CHRIS BOSH GAVE NO SUPPORT TO HIS CHILD. IF HE WITHHELD FUNDS ENTIRELY THE DOCUMENTS WOULD HAVE SAID SO.
How much did he give? I don’t know. Maybe it was insufficient. Maybe he could have done more. Maybe his ex is using this as a chance to get more than she needs out of him. Again, I don’t know.
What I do know is that it’s entirely unfair for a bunch of people who don’t know either Chris or Allison, or have inside information on the matter, to trash either of their characters.
Let’s all just calm down and let the facts come out.
