Lamar Odom Suspended

by Lang Whitaker

It’s just a one-game suspension, but perhaps it will calm the basketball folk in Portland. Since Paul Allen’s money couldn’t get them out of this one, they wanted blood in retribution. And conveniently enough, well, here’s Lamar Odom!

From the NBA…

NEW YORK, March 10, 2009 — Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers has been suspended one game without pay for leaving the immediate vicinity of the bench  during an altercation, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred with two seconds remaining in the third quarter of the  Portland  Trail  Blazers’ 111-94  victory  over the Lakers at Rose Garden in Portland last night.

Odom  will  serve his suspension tomorrow night when the Lakers face the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center.

hahahahahaha. I guess Phil didnt suck that front office executive’s d!ck good enough this time. I dont think he should be suspended, but it makes up for the other Lakers in flagrant foul past who were not.

Only M.Night and David Stern could script a twist this stupefying!

    Spurs for the win

meh, he left the bench and got involved, fair call.

  • Jackie Moon

Fair’s fair – Amare and Diaw did it, Odom should get the same. All three have similar mental deficiencies.

as a jazz fan i need the lakers to beat these western conference contenders…they haven’t been helping the cause out lately.

… LO won’t take a suspension either, why would Stern put a team that needs every break possible to be where they are in a poor spot? It won’t happen. ” Wrong again.

  • sho nuf

Fair verdict… on a related note I’m just worried about Josh Powell taking over the PF role against Houston. Thankfully Mbenga been playing great lately.

    LO, what a g…

  • Double J

wow i can’t believe all this heat came out against poor LO, dude is talented yet inconsistent but shoot he don’t be needin’ this!! sure he came off the bench but it was in defense of his teammates and it wasn’t actually a confrontation “on the court”

  • KoBynum716

yeah but the rule states if u get off the bench during any kind of altercation, its a suspension. as a laker fan, i accept the suspension, its fair, LO’s an idiot for doin it, but it also shows he got his teammates back. they’ll still be fine against the rockets, they serve no threat, even with powell taking over as our startin PF

  • vmcb

If LO didn’t get suspended, I would have had to boycott the L.

    Fair. According to the NBA.

what?! the rockets are about to kill these lakers.

    to: witness
how does this make the lakers a future victim of the rockets. the lakers are not goping to be killed by the rockets they play awesome defense and having the greatest player in the world doesn’t hurt them either.

I was just lookin at the Toyota Center from the balcony in the House of Blues, place looks set for whoopin Kobe after the first one this season. Oh ya, Kid Cudi rocked this place!

I was really hoping that L.O would play tomorrow night, that way he can see how good the Lakers really are when they match up against the Rockets. Last game Battier hit a 3, then 10 seconds later Kobe made his own and LAL won by 2 or so.

  • Jackie Moon

Kobe’s going to torch Shane Battier single-handedly, the Lakers will win, and then afterwards KB will calmly ask the courtside reporter, “How’d that Moneyball work out for ya?”

  • BostonBaller

Fair call…He left the bench area AND got in a players face. Players have been suspended for stepping over the line even when they didn’t go more than a couple of feet from the bench and were no where near the incident let alone being confrontational as LO was. And NO I’m not hating on the Lakers so ice down your brain and chill…save the venom for others. lol

  • floe

what is this the congregation of the retards here today ? somebody get Omar.

btw, it will be interesting to see how the lakers play without Odom because without Bynum teams will have the best chance at going at Odom and taking him out of the game like the past 3 years or so.

  • floe

also to see your name on the early morning newswire lang.. just like the old days.

Odom one game suspension? – no problem. He can use the time off to clear his head – inconsistent play. Everybody takes a beating every now and then but please don’t try to run up the score and showboat against these Lakers – you just might wind up on the hardwood searching for your molars.

  • Josh D

Damn,i wish thye gave him a two game suspension so he wouldn’t of palyed against the Spurs

Folks what go’s around comes around, believe that. Just like how White people were racist in the past, today we have the majority of black people who are racist towards the whites.

  • http://www.basketballjerseyworld.com NBA-JERSEY-KING

Dacre – I have no idea but I just think Lamar has been so dominant lately, that he’ll grab boards even if he aint on the court ;)

  • j4zzm4n

looks like the lakers weren’t killed

  • Alan

    yeah, u know

it’s worse to jump out of the bench than trying to kill Fernandez…
