Meet Your New Floor General, Boston

With Rajon Rondo out with an ankle injury, it’s Stephon Marbury’s show to run: “Five games into his Celtics career, he looks every bit the new guy who hadn’t played in more than a year. But Marbury expects things to change after he’s had 10 games. ‘Oh, man, I’ll be totally different,’ he said. ‘My mind is sped up right now to learn everything that’s going on. Once I get the system and I start to understand the plays and the defensive sets and what we want out of the offense and the defense – once my game comes around – I think I’ll be way more at ease and my instincts will definitely take over. Mentally is the hard part. You’re trying to do all of the things that you normally do. It’s like my mind is thinking that I can do one thing, but my body’s telling me another thing because I’m just not there as far as having enough games under my belt. I haven’t even played eight games yet, which is a preseason schedule. The more I play, the better I’ll get.’”

He isn’t lying. He looks every bit as quick and strong as he used to be.

LOL “I just, uh, have to learn the offense…and the defense…and teach my body how to respond to my brain again…and teach my brain how to respond to, um…the game…and…the more I play the better I’ll get.” Thanks for the insight into why you suck now Stephon.

Something tells me he’ll have the last laugh with this. I hope it works out for him.

  • T Money

@Harlem World. Kinda like TMac had the last laugh?

@ doyouwantmore ==> Just can’t let it go, can you? Steph has some crazy ideas, but he might be talking sense to you when he says, “You need to get caught up in life.” If you don’t, you feel a little suicidal when Marbury wins his first ring.

haha so much for the back to back titles….

it takes 10 games for him to get adjusted? what about all the working out he did while he didn’t play? what about all the practices he should be putting in? if marbury were serious, he’d be staying after ever practice and learning this system. and it’s not like he has to do much. bring the ball up, give it to KG, PP or Ray and run away. that’s what rondo does!

  • wilz

… and just like that, everyone jumps on the Starbury wagon!!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

wilz is stupid. And right. But stupid still.

  • Dave

Come on guys has Steph ever disappointed as a starting pg?! especially with Kevin Garrnet in the lineup?….oh yeah

  • Son of Shawn

I hope that Steph could use his brain and play basketball the way the Celts need it, because this is really “The Last Shot” for him to bounce back and be remembered as a basketball player than as a walking trouble

  • BostonBaller

@dma It does take a few REAL games to get your groove back. Practice is great but nothing is like in game “training”. Do you know for a fact that he doesn’t stay after practice or go early? As far as him ONLY having to “bring the ball up, give it to KG, PP or Ray and run away. that’s what rondo does!” Have you ever watched The Celtics play? Have you not seen Rondo blow by his man and score? That’s like saying all Fisher does is hit open jumpers. (which is not true) It cracks me up when ppl can NOT be objective and are total homers and everyone else sucks.

  • BostonBaller

I’m definitely not saying Marbury is the key to a championship but he is here and with our injuries it’s a good thing. I thought we had a great chance to repeat before he got here and I’m waiting to see how this works out but I’m not going to panic by any means. No team is assured a trip to the Finals let alone winning it and any of the favorites can be upset. I’m not sleeping on ATL or MIA in the East and your favorite West team better not sleep on The Jazz or Blazers. I still say my Celtics will win it all but that’s me being a homer. lol

Marbury will get creamed tonight by Wade and Chalmers…

yea rite, now u guys know like i know k.g. will b walking the ball up the court.

  • nastierthanyou

I love the haters. Reality check. In the beginning when he did have to work he had court side seats @ the garden. When he wasn’t playing and still had to show up, he got to rock hot taylor made suits. He was paid not to come to work. Quick question. How much $ would it take for your job to pay you not to come to work? He was able to work out on his own meaning not sitting around on a computer getting fat like most of us. Recieved over 19million Smakers, and when he began working again he signed with 1 of if not the most historic franchise in the league with an opportunity to win a ring THIS YEAR! Please haters put that in your pipe and smoke it!!
