Nice Watch, Kobe

Wildly expensive, too: “Nubeo, a high-end watch brand known outside the U.S. for its jellyfish-shaped watches, has teamed up with the basketball star to create a limited-edition line of high-tech sport watches starting at about $21,000 and topping out at $285,000. The Black Mamba series — a play on Mr. Bryant’s nickname — will be unveiled this coming week at Baselworld, the watch and jewelry show held annually in Basel, Switzerland, and will go on sale in the U.S. this fall, the watchmaker’s American debut.”

    I totally understand super expensive watches. I don’t rock any jewelry (or even a watch currently) but if I was wealthy, believe I would have a couple of very nice timepieces. My main issue is: “Jellyfish-shaped” Really?

    Nice watches, but there is no reason for them to be so expensive. Materials are no better than any other mid-level watchmaker. they are very unique-looking though.

    People, these watches aren’t for us po folks, these are for the milloinaries and billoinares, who got 200,000 as pocket change. Plus I know alot of people who love watches and if had the money would pay alot of money for watches. The point is Kobe is more global than any player in the NBA-even Yao Ming, Lebron is not close, because alot of people don’t like Lebron’s game, not skillful and doesn’t look sharp. Just going off what I have read about China and other places looking at Kobe as an idol. Lebron wants to be a global icon, but people don’t like his brutish game. Kobe’s game is more about the dramatic and flare, so selling watchings to rich folks, will be easy. Also Kobe’s jersey was number one in China and USA.

    Seriously. I would pay about… 3,000 maximum on a watch. And that seems outrageously frivolous. Once you pass 10,000 on a damn watch, that’s just downright immoral. $280,000 on a watch should send you straight to hell, I don’t care if you’re a billionaire and that’s chump change. Give some damn “chump change” to the millions of starving children on earth. Or if you have to invest it, how about investing it in some microlending? Something. Anyone that pays that (over 250,000) for a watch is an as*hole, and I’d tell them that to their face.

    I’d go with a more established, historic brand if I was spending $285,000 on a luxury item. You know, like Ferrari or Porsche. That’s just me, though.

    Don’t hate because some people can afford to spend money like that on luxuries. If a person wants to spend that much money on a watch let them. Obviously people treasure didn’t things. A watch can be a better investment then a car in some cases.

    Also I can understand someone not agreeing with it, but I do believe kobe invest in charities and other stuff. He has to making all that money, needs to have as much write offs as possible.
