    The Post Up: Lovely LeBron

Yes, another LBJ title. He’s just that good.

    by Holly MacKenzie

Tell me this, is anyone going to grab a road win in Cleveland before the regular season ends?

Honestly, the Cavs look damn unstoppable on their homefloor. Last night was no exception as the Blazers managed to force overtime only to have LeBron claim his 7th triple-double this season and also steal back the win.

Skeets said last night, “Please stop trying to tell me LeBron James isn’t this season’s MVP. You sound like a fool.” I don’t think I can disagree with this statement.

LeBron isn’t fair. He is just that good. Too good.

He finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 2 blocked shots last night.

LUUUUUUKE dunking over Ronny Turiaf really was too much for me. My heart almost jumped out of my chest because I was so surprised. Really, Luke Walton!

The refs really let the calls go in that Lakers/Warriors game and it got kind of ugly.

It was great to see Monta continue to work his way back and find his rhythm.

Could the Suns possibly make the playoffs? They’ve got to face Dallas once more this season and are currently 3.5 games back after the Mavs lost in ATL last night. It just doesn’t seem right to imagine the Suns watching from home.

The Bobcats are in town tonight and I’ve got to say, I think I’m the biggest Raja Bell fan who is also a Kobe fan. Actually, I’m probably top five Raja Bell fans, family included.

Quote of the night: “His jersey is longer than his drawers” -Chris Webber on Inside, speaking on Charles Barkley’s short-shorts and long jersey combo.

Can I just say once more how much I enjoy the presence of Chris Webber on Inside, NBATV and anywhere else that he feels like showing up? He’s fantastic.

Day one of the tourney is in the books, how’d you all do? I’m sure a lot of you were here, checking in with Justin Walsh and his liveblogging, but, tell me, favorite moment of yesterday? I’ve already had a few that have killed me, seeing the guys who lose, with their face in hands, jersey pulled up to cover tears, that just rips me. In a good way though. It makes me appreciate the game so much more.

Thoughts are with Coach Calhoun who, according to Charlie V’s twitter account, will be coaching today. Either way, thinking of him and wishing him health and wellness.

    Cleveland 97 Portland 92 OT

After a disgustingly brutal first half that saw Cleveland lead, 36-34 (yes, at the half), the Blazers managed to stick with the Cavs despite being without LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum. In the fourth, it appeared as though LeBron James would lead the Cavs to the win as he knocked down back to back shots to put his team up 86-82 with 34 seconds remaining but the craftiness of Brandon Roy drew back to back fouls on James and Roy then hit four free throws to tie the game up and force overtime. In the extra session however, the shorthanded Blazers stumbled, and went down by five before scoring their first basket of the period. By then, James had found his rhythm again and knocked down two more shots, including a beauty jump hook in the lane. Game over, Cleveland wins. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 21 points for the Cavs while Joe Smith and Mo Williams each added 12. The Blazers had a 24-point, 7-rebound, 7-assist night from Brandon Roy, 17 points from Travis Outlaw and a 13-point, 11-rebound double double from Joel Pryzbilla.

LA Lakers 114 Golden State 106

This was a win for the Lakers, but it was an ugly one. With LA holding onto  52-51 lead at the break, it appeared as though the game was all but over in the third quarter when the Lakers rang off a 22-6 run to take an 18-point lead. LA allowed their guard to come down and forget they were playing the pesky Warriors and before they knew what had happened, Golden State had come back and trailed by only five points in the final minutes of the game. Kelenna Azubuike helped his team in their run, connecting on a career-high five three-pointers. With the game on the line, the Lakers were just a step ahead of the Blazers as Trevor Ariza knocked down a huge three to give his team some breathing room. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol each scored 21 points with Gasol needing 10 less field goal attempts and also adding 14 rebounds. Lamar Odom had 16 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots. Azubuike led the Warriors with 25 points and 8 rebounds as Monta Ellis added 27 points and Brandan Wright added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

    Atlanta 95 Dallas 87

The Dallas Mavericks continue to lose games they need in their quest to keep a strong grip on the eighth playoff spot in the West. With the 95-87 loss to the Hawks, the Mavs keep the door cracked open for the Phoenix Suns who are now three and a half games back. With the Hawks victory, they now hold a four game lead over the Heat for homecourt advantage in the East. While the Hawks led early thanks to a second quarter that saw them outscore the Mavs 33-16, the Mavs tried their best to mount a comeback in the second half before falling short. Cutting the 17 point lead down to two at the start of the fourth quarter, the Mavs would not get any closer thanks to the solid play of Joe Johnson who finished with 24 points to lead the Hawks. Flip Murray added 19 points off of the bench, Al Horford had 13 points and 8 rebounds and Josh Smith scored 15. The Mavericks had 23 points and 12 rebounds from Dirk Nowitzki, 16 points from Antoine Wright and 13 from Ryan Hollins in the loss.

Good morning, everyone. How awesome was that Walton dunk!?! Possibly the individual highlight of his career so far. Poor Ronny. Besides Sasha the rest of the team played like already have home court throughout. Horrible.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:08 am
Hey, Atlanta. Joe Johnson. Josh Smith! Are you happy now Co Co? Are you????

    • Andy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:11 am
C’mon now…Kobe vs Shaq for an entire series? Give me that ANY day over Lakers vs Mavs. Go Suns!

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 9:14 am
Oh yeah, anyone who whined about how my Mavs preview for Slam was to harsh and a biased Laker fans opinion can officially lick my Cubes.

    • Co Co Posted: Mar.20 at 9:15 am
The Hawks will get a win in Cleveland Saturday afternoon. Jukai I’m always happy…….cept when I’m not….

    • floe Posted: Mar.20 at 9:17 am
      lovely lebron ? #^&*(!$^

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:21 am
Co Co: My father and I were having a small debate yesterday. He said that he was hoping the Cavs would get a second seed in the east, because he thinks the Hawks are really dangerous. I disagreed, and I thought Orlando was more dangerous and that they matched better with the Cavs.
As an avid and biased Hawks fan, how do you feel?

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:24 am
You know what. Last night I really seen how much BRON gets aay with travels, reach in’s, fouls, and get’s every call to go to the line. TWICE Frye, got called on the weakest touch fouls, with both his hands up, for Bron to go to the line. And I know how Bron get’s all of his assist’s!!! His teammates, have to shoot right away when HE passes to them, or they give it back to him to pass to someone else to shoot. O and he missed the game winning lay up!!! O and like Rondo’s behind the back pass. If I see Lebron James WINCE one more time, and then realize he is shooting free throws and then all of a sudden he is fine. I am going to buy a cav home ame ticket and start a riot!!! Good morning everyone!!!

    • Co Co Posted: Mar.20 at 9:26 am
As an avid biased Hawks fans I think our dad is right. Hahaahah. Although take into consideration I will not pick against the Hawks in any playoff series… My bias runs deep.

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:26 am
O and rebounds. IF Lebron is around for a rebound and Z or someone else is going to get it. But Lebron is anywhere near them, they let it drop and let him get it. THis guy is really starting to annoy me. And for a Triple Double, he does it ugly. His game is bulky because of his size. Go grace like Kobe and MJ … just, he is to big. He is pretty much the exact same size as Dwight. One inch shorter and the exact same weight. So why is Bron leading the league is rebounds if he is so big?

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:27 am
Hawks are playing ridunkulous. Nice to see. They gave the celt’s a nice run last year.

    • Co Co Posted: Mar.20 at 9:27 am
and by our dad I mean your dad.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:29 am
James, I respectfully and understandably disagree: There was one bad call against Frye, but this is the Cavaliers ‘home court advantage.’ Lebron gets away with travelling everywhere, but I feel on the road, Lebron could get punched in the face and people wont give him the call. I’ve seen Lebron get poked in the eye, punched in the arm, smacked on the nose, and the refs just let it play. Things are a LOT different when he plays in Cleveland.
Also, your passing hypothesis on how Lebron gets his assists seem a bit on the biased side. More so than most nights, Lebron found a good deal of cutters and made some perfectly timed passes. While you’re right, a good 3-4 assists came from Lebron passing to a three man who immediately shot it, they aren’t pressured by Lebron to do this, they are players who have ALWAYS done this, brought in so spread the floor for Lebron. Besides Boobie and Wally (whose sole purpose is to shoot when Lebron gives it to them), most players will only shoot when they feel they have the space. That’s why you NEVER see a shooter get blocked on Cleveland.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:29 am
      Co Co: ……. sis?

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:31 am
Also, the ONLY first round matchup I am dead-on fired up and excited about in the playoffs is the Miami vs Atlanta one. That will be pretty insane. The rest will be entertaining, but Atlanta v Miami is like a second-third round game.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 9:32 am
      I’m feeling Blue…………..

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 9:34 am
If I find out that Co Co and Jukai are family, i’m officially never coming to the Slam site again. ***shutters***

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 9:35 am
As for my pool, i’ve only got two losses so far…and they were close. Damn Butler. VCU should have won. I expected Maynor to make that shot.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:35 am
TAD….what’s your SLAM bracket looking like? I’m at 14 wins out of 16.

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:37 am
@Tad - lol @Jukai - I know. But at his size, and I see someone like Dwight, playing alot bigger men, never complain. But Bron every god darn play he is wincing like a little b1tch.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:37 am
There’s my answer. I lost on your boys game and Illinois.

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 9:38 am
E and me had the same first round picks. Scary.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:40 am
B, I was about to pick Michigan…..and then I fu*ked around and tried reasoning…..stupid me.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:40 am
      James: Two reasons for that:
      a) Dwight is a helluva lot tougher
      b) Dwight is much slower. When people want to foul Dwight, they tie him up or slap at his hands. With Lebron, he’s super fast, people just SLAP where they think the ball is. Not only will the blow hurt a lot more because of the speed it’s happening at, but it tends to hit areas other than the face. Dwight usually holds the ball farther out so people can hit his hands. Lebron tucks the ball in, so when people slap down, it usually hits Lebron’s face.
Complain about video game James travelling, that’s legit. I actually think Lebron doesn’t get ENOUGH foul calls sometimes. He really gets beat up.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 9:41 am
I had my boys and Western Kentucky. I honestly didn’t expect LSU to shoot as good as they did. I totally saw that Illinois upset from a mile away (sorry Ryne).

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:41 am
*other than the face = other than the hands

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:45 am
      Stupid Illinois.

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:46 am
ALl I know is everyone says how big bodied he is, and how tough he is. I was watching a few things on Lebron on your tube of him faking last night. After I seen him fake the shoulder injury last night. And he looks like a soccer player. Getting hit on his elbow, and then holding his nose. It’s ridiculous. He is getting “the best player in the game” for faulty reasons. LIke refs are scared to make a call for him.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:49 am
It’s too bad that Lebron doesn’t have a misguided calvary like other players that are discussed aroud here. We get it James…..Lebron is garbage.

    • Simon S.Y Lawy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:52 am
      co-sign, james the balla …

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:52 am
Thanks Eboy … I was just very annoyed last night I guess. Possibly because of Kobe’s bad shooting night and the Lakers just relaxing. I was trying to figure out why Kobe has just been shooting and not driving. I think he is saving himself for the playoffs. But I am dieing to see a few 40 point nights.

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:52 am
@Simon … this surprises me lol. *fist bums chest* someone agrees with me!!!

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 9:56 am
Jesus, can we have ONE day without these stupid discussions? It really is getting tiresome.

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 9:57 am
I really wish the dial-up connection in James the balla’s grandmother’s basement would crash.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:58 am
TAD……a big game on Sunday….I think it will be a gret game since they both need the win pretty bad.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 9:58 am
      *great

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 9:58 am
Let’s all be civil guys, it’s just a nice, friendly debate.

    • James the balla Posted: Mar.20 at 9:59 am
lol as much as my grandmother is a beautiful person. And I miss her. She lives quite a bit away.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 9:59 am
Oh, you mean the Heat/Pistons? Meh. Bigger game Saturday…Michigan vs. Oklahoma!

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:02 am
Well…….only of the teams you will be rooting for will have a chance at winning so I picked that one.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 10:03 am
Yeah, I like the Wolverines chances as well.

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 10:06 am
@E: I just couldn’t see Clemson choking in the tourney…AGAIN.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:07 am
TAD IS feeling blue…….B,yeah, I know.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 10:10 am
I’ll tell you what…that press Clemson has is scary. Their players were 100 times more athletic than the UM players. Thing is, they can’t shoot a lick. Once Oglesby threw that elbow, that was the end of them.

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 10:13 am
you guys are a bunch of pigeons on crack. Seriously.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:17 am
      Both teams played hard, Moose.

    • MooButter Posted: Mar.20 at 10:17 am
I just can’t stop laughing at James the Balla’s criticism of how Lebron gets assists. Let me get this straight: He passes to an open player on his team…and they shoot it…and it goes in. One assist. I am failing to see the problem with that. I was under the impression that was pretty much the definition of an assist, finding the open man.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:18 am
Weather in Beantown has been great, Eboy, that’s why. But Fenway Park is looking real deserted ATM.

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 10:18 am
Holly, Ryne, Lang, any SLAM staffer: set up a permanent thread called LeBron vs. Kobe and lock James the Balla from commenting on any other thread.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:18 am
      That’s good.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:18 am
      I gotcha, E.

The new SLAM issue is fresh.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:20 am
Hey Moose….I got the new ish in the mail last night…..saw your piece in Trash Talk…..like the accomponying tag line “From one of SLAMOnline’s best commenters”….pretty cool.

    • Joel O's Posted: Mar.20 at 10:21 am
I don’t know what’s not to like about Lebron’s performance last night, even if you are a Kobe or Wade fan. What impressed me was how he won with finesse, when strength is usually his go-to weapon. The soft/quick-release pull up jumpers under pressure, the jump hooks, the fadeaway glass winner.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:22 am
Thanks, E. I thought it was pretty cool, too. Thanks, Ben!

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:23 am
Joel….that didn’t happen…..Wade or Lebron don’t play at a high enough level to warrant praise. You should know that since you are a very astute observer.

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 10:23 am
i still need to go to Barnes and Nobles or Rite Aide and pick up the new one…

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:24 am
      BET, heh?

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:25 am

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:32 am
      That sucks.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:33 am
Yeah, subscriptions come with everything except for the Kicks and the Olympic one, methinks. Speaking of Punks, did you guys see the little feature on Alex Oriakhi and Jamaal Coombs-McDaniel in Punks this last issue? THAT’S what I’m TALKIN’ bout! Those two guys were featured in my latest B@chi piece, remember? I met both of ‘em.

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 10:35 am
so it doesnt come with the extra magizines. I see. Well i wont be risking losing my money, and i cannot get delivery confirmation on magizines, and it wouldnt save me money if i could. Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 10:37 am
Did anyone else hear Obama make the crack about the Special Olympics? It will be greatly exaggerated for the rest of the day.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:39 am
B……explain how that’s greatly exaggerated? A person in his position of power should KNOW not to say sh*t like that.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 10:40 am
I’m getting why everyone elected Bush now though. I would LOVE to have a beer with Obama. Dude would probably talk about sports with me for a good hour and a half.

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 10:40 am
      what did he say?

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:40 am
Nice pic on your site B. Long.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:41 am
On Leno, BET. He was referring to his bad bowling score, and he likened it to the Special Olympics.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:41 am
It’s can be viewed asfunny coming from guys like us if one of say “playing you would be like playing a Special Olympics player” in that sort of context from the Pres….it’s not right.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:42 am
I don’t agree with what he said, he shouldn’t be talking like that. I still like his politics, though, as I always have.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:43 am
Here’s the exact quote: “No, no. I have been practicing,” Obama said. “I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something.”

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:43 am
I think he meant to say “I played like a retard”. Perhaps he should have just said that.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:44 am
Eboy, when’s Part Two coming out? You had Part 1 when I was sick . . . so three weeks ago. SKO is trippin’!

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:45 am
The comment from the White House makes it worse. “He thinks that the Special Olympics are a wonderful program that gives an opportunity to shine to people with disabilities from around the world,” Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton said. Then why did you say it, dum dum?

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 10:45 am
that = not good. Why does the democratic party take power then fu(k up? This and the AIG refund thing = Rush Limbaughs 2 inch b0ner, he doesnt need vi@gra to get it when we mess up like this. His husband Ricardo Ronicko will be happy tonight.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 10:45 am
I think the proper presidential way of going about saying that would be curling his arm back and ramming it on his check a couple of times as his fingers hung limply, twisting his back a bit, letting his face muscles sort of drop and sticking out his tongue while going “ize bawled like thus dur hur”

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:46 am
Well…..I haven’t had time being sick myself….my kids T-Ball practices…..and just not getting time to write it out. There will be another SLAM fam interview up SOON, so that will be good stuff.

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 10:47 am
Come on E, no he shouldn’t have made the joke but it really isn’t that big of a deal. Foxnews actted like he made a home sex video with Osama Bin Laden or something this morning.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:48 am
Oh, who, who who? I think SKO should interview ME. That would be interesting. Think about it, Eboy. Think about it.

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 10:48 am
when is anyone gonna interview me. Beside Rick Sanchez, nobody has.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:49 am
I got interviewed in first grade because my whole class was for fun. Nobody else . . .

    • Joel O's Posted: Mar.20 at 10:49 am
@Eboy: He struggled in the first half for sure, and after the first quarter I had a really bad feeling, but they gutted it out and won the game. And he finished it well enough, though you’d think he would’ve gotten a better shot off to finish regulation than that hanging layup. And a play or two before that with a minute left, with Cleveland up 2 he just dribbles around and pulls up and clanks it.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:50 am
It’s not that big of a deal if he’s not THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. This is the guy wo touted CHANGE for the last couple of years in his campaign….and then, in his first, non-political/non-newsdriven interview, he uses an obvious slander towards a segment of the population that has always been held in protected circles. C’mon B….he’s my boy and all too….but the dude fu*ked up….he’s not THAT teflon.

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 10:50 am
I will interview you Moose: Q: So when did you decide to join the Jonas Brothers? Q: At what point in your life did you realize you could be the Celtics Mascout of you just bought a green suit and green fedora? Q: How has the Celtics success impacted your life? Q:Does living in a cold weather enviorment really make people’s b@lls never drop? Q: Why are you such a ‘person’?

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 10:51 am
      Thanx Moose.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:51 am
Very funny. What’s your last question mean???

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:52 am
That’s a good line of questioning, BET.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:52 am
Anytime, B. Which shoes were they? The snake ones or the car ones?

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:53 am
A long, drawn-out answer of BETCATS’ will be up here shortly.

    • Joel O's Posted: Mar.20 at 10:53 am
I guess I’m just impressed with his performance down the final stretch… with those 40 and 50 point triple doubles coming every other week or so, a “mere” 20-10-10 game doesn’t seem like much, but still. But I really wonder if this is gonna be enough from Cleveland to beat a full strength Boston in the East.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:53 am
Yeah B….the pic with the shoes is cool…..your wannabe Adam Morrison appearance is still questionable.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:54 am
Eboy, to correct you, it’s a wannabe Sash Vujacic. That’s what B said, anyways.

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Mar.20 at 10:54 am
      Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 10:55 am
I must have missed the ghey hairband.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:56 am
      He has one, Eboy.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 10:57 am
A: Ha. Ha. Ha. I got a haircut BTW, BET. And, uhhh, my voice wouldn’t work in any section of a singing thingy except for the low ones. I got a Rick Ross type of thing going on here. I’ve been asked what HS I go to since sixth grade. Laugh it up. A: If I could pull that off I’d do it, el oh el. But Lucky just got fired, actually. We have no mascot right now. Hey, if I pass for being 21, maybe I’d have a chance. A: It has given me joy. You forgot the Red Sox and Patriots’ success, too. And, I’m a Revolution fan as well. Laugh. A: No. And when did it become a “cold weather climate”? It’s 80 daily in the summer. A: I don’t get your last question. Can someone explain?

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 10:57 am
wow didnt see it yet but im SHOCKED that obama would say something like that on leno. dealing with the aig buffoons is getting to him, his media game is slippin. lol

    • nate james Posted: Mar.20 at 11:00 am
so this is all about lebron? what about the blazers forcing overtime, and being without 2 of their starters?
as for obama thats hilarious. he’s such a bamf.

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Mar.20 at 11:02 am
      LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE!

    • nate james Posted: Mar.20 at 11:03 am
i do agree with james the baller.
i was watching the game, and say 3 guys go up for a rebound. lebron would muscul his way through his team and get it.
and everytime lebron would pass, even if it was quick in the shot clock, they would force up a shot.
idk. lebrons just too good. i hate it.

    • nate james Posted: Mar.20 at 11:04 am

I think Obama was just trying to be funny, cuz he was on Leno. I guess, I might feel differently if I was the parent/family member of a special olympic participant, but I have a bunch of friends with brothers/sisters who are special needs kids, and I just don’t think they take themselves so seriously as to be genuinely offended by this.

    • ciolkstar Posted: Mar.20 at 11:05 am
Oh, and I’m 15-1 in my office pool, but just 13-3 in the SLAM pool.

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 11:08 am
hey, maybe some american can answer that for me. why are there no guidelines, restrictions as to what the companies are allowed to do with the bail out money? is there an obligation for the companies to produce reports on how that money was spent? in short, why his the money untied? the imf and the wb give out nothing but tied money to the struggling economies.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:10 am
Z: There actually WERE restrictions on what they can do with the money, at least with some of the bailout money they got (they got multiple billions on multiple different bills). It’s just that the government isn’t going to penalize them and take it back. AIG knows this.

    • Moose Posted: Mar.20 at 11:10 am
ciolk, I’m 14-2 in my regular pool and 11-5 in the SLAM pool. I’m with you, it stinks.

      @Russ:Exactly. Narsty dunk.

    • Co Co Posted: Mar.20 at 11:19 am
Hawks magic number is 4…. Just thought I’d mention that.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:19 am
Everyone needs to read this: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/dick_vitale_more_sexual_during?utm_source=a-section

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:20 am
While the direct link in my above comment is under moderation, everyone should go to theonion.com and find the article “Dick Vitale More Sexual During March Madness, Wife Lorraine Reports.”
It is pretty much the most amazing thing ever.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:20 am
“He’s an animal,” said Mrs. Vitale, adding that prior to her husband’s appearance on ESPN’s Selection Sunday special, the couple engaged in sexual intercourse three times in different locations, including once in a Bank of America ATM kiosk. “We fool around at other times during the year, of course, but once the conference tournaments start and the brackets are finalized, well, that’s when the role-playing starts, the dirty talk gets louder, and ‘the prime-time player’ comes out of its velvet-lined case and gets fresh batteries.”
“He’s especially aggressive this year because Duke has a legitimate chance at making the Final Four,” she added.

    • BETCATS Posted: Mar.20 at 11:22 am
      Finkleberrys are delicious

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:22 am
But what her husband enjoys playing most, Mrs. Vitale noted, is “Duke vs. UNC,” a game in which he dresses up as a Blue Devil, she wears a University of North Carolina cheerleader outfit, and, at the sound of an air horn, the two “go at it hard like two in-state rivals.”
Mrs. Vitale would not confirm rumors that ESPN analyst Digger Phelps sometimes participates while dressed as Wake Forest’s “Demon Deacon” mascot.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:22 am
“When the Final Four comes around, Dick is so sexually charged that he’s pretty much into everything,” said the mother of two, who admitted that it was disturbing at first to watch her husband stand stark naked in their kitchen, a ball gag muffling his screams of “It’s awesome, baby,” but that the practice had grown on her. “And I’ll admit that it’s a little weird when he shouts out ‘Krzyzewski’ at the moment of climax, but believe me, it’s worth it. I have so many orgasms that it doesn’t matter.”

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 11:24 am
i’ve just read that the house passed a bill to impose a 90% (!) tax on employee bonuses paid by aig and other bail-out cies. it’s the right thing to do but it’s still kinda lame that they could have outlawed such payouts in the stimulus bill but weren’t ballsy enough to do it then. now, they didn’t really have a choice since the taxpayers were going batsh!t crazy over this. wishy washy.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 11:31 am
Thanks for sharing Jukai. That sh*t was hilarious.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:32 am
      Christ, the last part:
Before reentering the dressing room, Mrs. Vitale confirmed what everyone had already assumed to be true: that immediately after the NCAA championship game Dick Vitale ejaculates one last time, rolls over, and sleeps through the entire month of April

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 11:35 am
Co Co, 4 games for what type of magic…..they have 13 games left…..to clinch a spot in the playoffs?

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 11:36 am
The two hottest teams in the League (7 straight each) go at it Saturday. Co Co, you’re definitely more optimistic than I am. I’ll be rooting hard for the upset win, but I’m expecting them to lose and then come home and beat Minnesota Monday and then… yikes… Spurs, C’s, and Lakers back-to-back-to-back.

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 11:37 am
Not a big fan of that fake “photo” thing the Cavs are doing. SMH.

    • Eboy Posted: Mar.20 at 11:40 am
      What is that, Myung?

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 11:43 am
myung, it’s a bit corny but, as someone thats interested in seeing lebron-led teams do well, it shows great chemistry. you can’t do that when teammates don’t like each others that much.

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 11:45 am
Myung just reminded me of something. Did anyone else see the block Shannon Brown put on Mario West the last time the Hawks played L.A.? Youtube it. Trust me it’s worth it.

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 11:46 am
I saw it on Sportscenter, eboy. Just something they’re doing to have fun, I guess. And Z, it’s just a matter of personal taste. I got no beef with people who like it, but I think it’s … well … President Obama would be able to describe it better than I could.

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 11:47 am
I remember that block, B. That block was ridiculous (and it was clean). That really shouldn’t happen to guys who play about 30 seconds a night. Poor Mario.

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 11:50 am
Actually, I like Mario West a lot. I met him, and he’s a super nice guy… and he’s the consummate pro. Woodson usually puts him out there when there’s under a minute to go in each quarter strictly for defense. It’s funny but if you ever see Mario West on the floor with some starters, watch him on offense. He literally just stands to the side, knowing the ball won’t ever be passed to him. He knows his role, but he embraces it. He’s definitely one of my favorite Hawks, even though his stat lines usually looks like something like 0 ppg, 0 apg, and 1 rpg.

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 11:53 am
you could never do that camera thing on a KOBE lead team. Just saying!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 11:55 am
20 more minutes until day two of the tourney. What is this NBA ya’ll speak of?

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 12:00 pm
Jukai. LOL. Kobe vs. LeBron… in EVERY single Post Up, huh? My goodness.

    • Bryan Posted: Mar.20 at 12:08 pm
      What’s up guys

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Mar.20 at 12:16 pm
Someone needs to do something about Brandon Roy’s beard.

    • Anton Posted: Mar.20 at 12:18 pm
Can you believe this LeBron guy? Intentionally throwing the game into overtime just so he can pad his stats and record his 7th triple double of the season. What a selfish player.
      Oh wait, no he isn’t.

    • Anton Posted: Mar.20 at 12:19 pm
LOL of the night goes to Charles Barkley on Kenny Smith’s absence: “Kenny, you can’t miss a game because of a yeast infection!”

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 12:20 pm
What’s up Shia. Co-sign Russ. Roy has one of those never-gonna-fully-fill-in beards.

    • Allenp Posted: Mar.20 at 12:22 pm
Can’t make jokes about the disabled. He’s going to get it for that, and he deserves it.
Even though folks joke like that, it’s not cool.

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Mar.20 at 12:22 pm
      He looks moldy.

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Mar.20 at 12:23 pm
“You can only miss games after trying to pick up a hooker when driving drunk,” Charles inexplicably failed to add. I’m over the Chuckster.

    • Phil B Posted: Mar.20 at 12:24 pm
yes, roy’s beard looks like mine… not good. but that was the best loss for the blazers all season. and lebron is mvp. the polls are closed.

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Mar.20 at 12:24 pm
I wasn’t paying close attention to the Blazer/Cavaliers game early on, and when I saw the halftime score I thought I’d switched over to the Special Olympics by mistake. Oh, oops.

    • Anton Posted: Mar.20 at 12:24 pm
Hey, hey, hey…just because she gave amazing head and Charles had to drive at odd hours of the night to see her does not make her a hooker.

    • Anton Posted: Mar.20 at 12:27 pm
Someone pissed in James the balla’s Cheerios this morning.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 1:16 pm
No one is liveblogging games today???

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 1:19 pm
Okay, I know some will KILL me for this but I’m asking : is it a foregone conclusion that Kobe is 1st team all nba THIS year? Again, I’m not asking who’s the better player, just who played better this year. D-Wade is a lock at the guard spot because he’s having a monster season. so it’s kob or cp3. whats more impressive? 27-5-5 or 22-5-11? I know that Kobe will be 1st team and it frankly doesnt bother me at all because he’s that dude but still, cp3 is ballin.

    • B. Long Posted: Mar.20 at 1:32 pm
I won’t be mad if the league puts him on the second team this season, Z. As long as he gets his team to play defense again and brings home the hardware in June.

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 1:45 pm
That’s a great question, Z, about Kobe and 1st team all NBA. It’s a shame that one of those three will be left off, but strictly looking at STATS, I might be inclined to put Paul over Kobe too. I agree that Wade is a lock at one of the guard spots. Maybe this year, they should ignore positions and just let Kobe, LBJ, CP, Dwight, and Wade all make it.

    • Ryan Jones Posted: Mar.20 at 1:50 pm
Hi. I just got back from watching people fence. You know who’d make a really good fencer? LEBRON JAMES.

    • ciolkstar Posted: Mar.20 at 2:17 pm
      C’mon Tennessee!

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 2:28 pm
Out of curiosity, where were you watching fencing, Ryan?

    • ciolkstar Posted: Mar.20 at 2:32 pm
Damn, Byron Eaton is a monster. Can’t be mad at him.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 2:34 pm
ciol, I see i’m not the only one watching. That Eaton cross-over was NASTY.

    • Bryan Posted: Mar.20 at 2:43 pm
And I’m at work llike an assh*le.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 2:53 pm
Me too Shia, but i’m watching it online.

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 3:01 pm
damn you’re lucky tad, my ITs ain’t having any of that. no streams, no personal mails, no fbook, no ytube. they basically take out anything that could be remotely considered as entertainment. public service don’t play, it’s also very grey.

    • Myung Posted: Mar.20 at 3:08 pm
      But you get SLAMonline, Z!

    • Z Posted: Mar.20 at 3:30 pm
thank the lord! i pretty much have slamonline on a tab all day no matter what im doing.

    • ciolkstar Posted: Mar.20 at 3:41 pm
West Virginia looks sloppy. If they lose, my brackett will be officially worthless…

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 4:04 pm
Z, you wanna know the way around that?? Work in the IT department!

    • Jukai Posted: Mar.20 at 4:20 pm
TAD’s right. When I worked in QA, all my sh!t was blocked. Now I’m desktop support, and I got full access to everything, baby.

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 4:26 pm
Anyone know where James Harden is today? Temple is shutting him down.

    • nbk Posted: Mar.20 at 4:28 pm
He just doesn’t look interested except in the last couple minutes

    • nbk Posted: Mar.20 at 4:30 pm
I dont think I have ever seen a more Paul Pierce like player in my life

    • TADOne Posted: Mar.20 at 4:38 pm
I’m not even sure how Arizona State won when James Harden didn’t score even 1 field goal. Amazing.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Mar.20 at 4:39 pm
Yao Ming should be first team some time. Not this year, but definitely some time.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Mar.20 at 4:41 pm
Monta Ellis = All-Star next year.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Mar.20 at 4:42 pm
Also, James the “balla” and Simon S.Y. are g@y with each other.

    • nbk Posted: Mar.20 at 4:42 pm
      Teddy’s got typer terrets

    • ciolkstar Posted: Mar.20 at 5:25 pm
