The Sadness of One Josh Boone

It’s so palpable that musicians are paying him unsolicited visits in the Nets’ locker room: “Bruce Hornsby was ushered into the Nets locker room by Kiki Vandeweghe Sunday, and the GM asked the musician whether there was anyone he’d like to meet. Hornsby said he was interested only in Josh Boone, ‘because he looks so sad.’”

I’m so glad you linked to this. I read this in the paper Wednesday and laughed really hard…meant to post it myself but totally forgot. Lang and I have a thing about sad basketball players. Typically it’s big guys like Boone, with Shagari Alleyne being our most famous example…

Boone might be sad, but this story made me happy. Maybe Hornsby thought Boone was the guy from the Black Eyed Peas.

i remember the clippers/nets game where Camby hurt Devin Harris, and devin couldn’t shoot his free throws. the clips picked the nets worst FT shooter ,Josh Boone of course, and he ended up playing for the first time in like 6 games. the clips announcers were getting on Boone bad, saying that Lawrence Frank had forgot Boone was on the team, and that clippers had to remind frank he even existed.

The thing is: Boone can play, he just isn’t very strong mentally. I always wondered why the Nets aren’t playing Boone alongside Lopez.

Lesson of the day, don’t school early if you are a one dimensional player
