David Lee Makes a Case for Staying in New York

Wait a minute. Shouldn’t it be the other way around: “With seven games left in the season and free agency right around the corner, Lee made a pitch Thursday to remain a Knick as the organization looks to continue its rebuilding phase, with an eye toward landing a pair of big-name free agents during the summer of 2010. ‘I’ve really taken to what Coach (Mike) D’Antoni and everybody are doing around here, and the culture has really improved, and I think they have a good plan moving forward to make this a very successful team,’ Lee said at the Knicks’ practice facility in Greenburgh. ‘I’d love to be a part of that, and hopefully that works out.’”

For real. Lee is the Knicks most tradeable/desirable piece. It’s in their interest to keep him though, because what 2010 superstar wouldn’t want to play with a rebounder who doesn’t look for his own shot?

Love to have him in NYC for the long-haul . . . but only as long as his help defense improves (probably not happening with D’Antoni at the helms).

Knicks should keep him..fearless rebouder bangin @ 6’9 night in & out

“Of course if someone offers me, say, five years and $70, and the Knicks don’t match, I am SO f*cking out of here.”

I reaaly hope the Knicks orgranization is not shortsighted.
    Keep Lee.
    Keep Nate Robinson.

KEEP DAVID LEE. Ninja Al can stay too, same with Wilson Chandler and Lil’ Nate. That’s about it. David Lee and LeBron James and/or Dwade?? Man that’s cool.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

@ K: You don’t have to worry about Lee’s defense once LeBron comes and we start scoring 200 ppg. :P

i like the knicks a lot with what they are doing. but why dont they trade up for a first round pick or the first pick in the first round and find their own lebron in the draft.
if they keep nate rob, chandler, lee, and get a good draft pick they can do damage, let other contract expire, or trade expiring contracts for draft picks, and get a good young fast running team and be the new young gun suns.

David Lee is very underated and the Knicks will let him go. They won’t pay him top dollar like other teams that are not on LeBron’s or Wade’s radar in 2010….wow only 5 years till the Air Mags release!

Knicks need players who actually want to play for them!!
Robinson, Chandler, Lee, Richardson is a pretty decent core group, Harrington if he stays can still light it up, and if you added Lebron, having a backup guy who can go for 30 odd occasionaly isnt a bad thing. I think Barbosa, Raja Bell, Anthony Randolph, Andris Biedrins would be some dream additions lol, guys who can get out and run, and play the D-Antoni way!

I agree with everything Russ said…

David Lee is not underrated for the simple reason that everyone keeps banging on about how underrated he is. Does no-one else feel this? I’m a big fan of his game but lets stop pretending that the league is down on him – there will be a ton of interest for a player like him…
