Doc Rivers Calms Celtics Fans’ Nerves

Don’t worry, Beantowners. KG will be ready for the start of the postseason: “I think he absolutely will. There’s always a chance [Garnett won't be ready], but I don’t see that, I really don’t. I would be very, very surprised if Kevin Garnett is not playing in Game 1 of the playoffs.’ … Asked if the Celtics could repeat with Garnett at less than 100 percent, Rivers said, ‘Yes. I believe that. Defensively is where we need him, obviously offensively, too, with his shot and all that, his leadership on the floor. I really believe we can. And I think he will be [at full strength], or close to it – I don’t know if he’ll be 100 percent – but I do, that is the answer, without him being 100 percent.”

Doc talks like a moron. He says absolutely yes, and then probably maybe. So long Celtics.

Yeah, a definite maybe… not very reassuring.

“We can definitely win without him. We just need his defense, and his offense… and his leadership… and big minutes from him in crunch time…”

Anton, that’s what everyone was saying during the Playoffs last year too.

Thanks for clearing that up for us “Doc”.

I agree with the general response here in that this certainly does nothing to calm me down. +10 to Plasticman for the hilarious comment, I agree a translation for that excerpt is definitely necessary.

At-any-rate I am a *huge* Boston fan for 2 reasons:
    1) I lived in Minneapolis for over a decade and had T-Wolves season tickets the entire time. I watched KG mature into the player that he is today amongst a team and coaching staff that had no chance to make it in the post-season.
    2) I have always liked, respected and admired Paul Pierce. The combination of he, Allen, Rando and KG really make this team fun, exciting and truly special.

All I can say is stay positive and stay tuned.
