Iverson’s Former Teammates Have His Back

They also don’t want to see him walk away from the game: “I’ll call him up and see what’s up,’’ Carmelo Anthony said before Thursday’s game against Utah about reaching out to his former teammate, traded last November from Denver to Detroit. “I hope (Iverson isn’t serious about retiring). I don’t want to see him ago, but I don’t know his situation… They’ve got all the keys to do it, but I’m really surprised with what they’ve (done) this season,’’ said Nuggets guard J.R. Smith. “(Iverson is) a competitor. He always wants to play. I think he feels he can play up to where he used to play. So it’s a team thing I guess.’’

I guess these guys know nothing of this subject too.

It seems like everybody thinks its the clubs choice wether iverson will continue to play, while its clearly his choice…. Adapt to the clubs needs or leave – the NBA will be there with or without you Allen – think about it

Looks like a kid trying to put pressure on his parents…

  • Clockwork

Nothing about Iverson’s CURRENT teammates having hs back

    MELO, thanks but no thanks.

    Dear Iverson,

If and ONLY IF it comes to it. Go to Europe and make hundreds and millions of dollars. There is no shame at all in that before you retire.

  • sweetrose

Iverson has too many fans to retire. AI is the reason so many fans watch basketball. We need him to play more years. His fans love him and love his game. Please Iverson, don’t leave your millions of fans hanging.

  • a_whiteman

I could care less if he stayed or not. I respect the heart, determination, and everything else the warrior plays with. But, I don’t respect his game. I can’t rate him over a guy like ray allen, for the simple fact that ray doesnt/ didn’t need 25 shots to drop 30 on you.

I can’t wait for AI to get out of Detroit they just wamted his contract they didn’t give a dame about him. By the way it isn’t Chauncey that has made Denver good it’s Nene healthy and Birdman.

    Detroit sucks

  • Static

funny how ppl wanna throw up fg% like that ish counts against him…most of the great scorers have crappy percentages but they still get the job done. Even with age and aches catchin up to him he’s still better offensively than most guys in the L but the Detroit system can never use a true scorer cuz they’re built around D and team offense; if he can find a happy medium starting and being the 2nd option somewhere he’ll still thrive but it won’t guarantee the chip

JR Smith must be psyched to be getting more minutes/shots. And it seems to be working for the Nuggets.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Yeh Russ 20 pts on 6/8 3pt shooting is pretty damn impressive. In 8 minutes of playing time.

  • Jack

Russ, us Denver fans have been calling for JR to get more of both for about 3 years now. That is one of the good things about AI being gone, JR gets the most of the minutes to burn.

  • Jack

Pat Hopkins: You are right, but Chauncey has attributed greatly, he gives the team direction and leadership. Nene and K-Mart having pretty healthy seasons, and Melo becoming a more all-round player is what has done it for us though. I’m sure he’ll only continue to improve.

Man, Iverson Fans Could Barely Get Past The All-Star Break Before They Started With The “Please Get Iverson Out of Detroit” Stuff. You Guys Got Your Wish With Getting Him Out of That Hellhole Denver. That Team Was Crippled Once They Lost Iverson. And I’m Sure Detroit Will Lose Their Last 7 Games Now.

ai is da best ever so dont hate it is mc’s fault

Could someone explain to me how and why Micheal Curry is the worst coach ever? With Detroits veterans I can’t honestly pin it on Curry 100%. AI just wasn’t right for the Pistons. He needs an offense where it is centered around him, and a defense that is aggresive for when who is guarding him decides to set him on FIRE. aka the Sixers team that reached the Finals.

    JR has been insane recently

Clockwork: Sheed has said he’d like to continue playing with Iverson. I can’t remember an Iverson teammate who hasn’t liked him. The only people who don’t like him are the media and fair weather ball fans.
