Jayson Williams Hospitalized, “Suicidal”

Terrible news in the troubled life of the former Nets forward: “Former Nets superstar Jayson Williams was taken to a Manhattan hospital for a psychological evaluation early today after he barricaded himself inside a hotel room and was acting “suicidal” and “violent,” authorities told The Post. Williams, 41, was removed from his room at a Manhattan hotel at 4 a.m., police sources said. Once inside the hotel, the officers confronted what sources described to The Post as ‘a suicidal man’ who was acting ‘violent.’

“The cops called an Emergency Services Unit for help since Williams had trashed his room. Once there, sources said, the officers used “an electrical device” to subdue Williams, who was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital for a psychological evaluation”

whoa! Man, can’t believe how it has been since I read his hilarious book Loose Balls, seeing him in interviews being so kind and funny and open, and then he shoots a man. And now this. Awful news.

The author of loose balls is being restrained and evaluated? Odd. Seriously, it’s really sad to see his life coming to pieces over the years. This is the kind of behavior i would have expected from the Worm, not the funny Mr. Williams.

Man this guy has been through a lot… still remember Jordan said he wanted Jayson on his Bulls team cos he loved the way the guy rebounded…. since then its been downhill

I’ll never understand why rich and famous people has so many troubles to deal with life, while the rest of us do OK without having so many opportunities. I’d like to see him dealing with a family and a regular job and the crisis… That’s though life man. Not his…

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Apr.28 at 9:27 am
He already had some troubles before he was rich and famous.

  • Hussman25 Posted: Apr.28 at 9:34 am
This is really a sad story; I have always liked the way he played the game… the 97-98 season was his best and should have been the spring board for many other all star apperances and rebounding titles, but those “DAMN INJURIES” can sure change the lives of players! But no matter how he played on the court, he is still a person off of it who seemed just a little too high strung or unstable. All of these allegations w/ his limo driver and wife will be handled in the court of LAW not at the Izod Center and we have to remember that right now; this is not about the basketball player but the man, former NBA player, husband, father, son… God Bless you Jay and get right, not for you but for the people who need you the most!! Deuces

I read his book, too. He wrote it before all his major legal troubles and before the shooting, obviously. There is this one chapter where he literally talks about NBA players who carry guns. He said in the book that he couldn’t understand why anyone would carry a gun and how he didn’t approve of players with big posses carrying guns around.
