Joe Maloof Wants an Apology from Kenyon Martin

by Marcel Mutoni

Spencer Hawes injured his left knee on Monday night, and will wisely sit out the season finale this evening in Minnesota. The injury isn`t deemed too serious, but don`t try and tell that to one of the men who signs his checks, Joe Maloof.

The Kings` co-owner is very upset with Kenyon Martin, since his foul on Monday led to Hawes`s injury. Maloof wants Martin to pay, or at the very least, apologize for his actions.

From the Sac Bee:

“That was thuggery,” said Maloof, the Kings’ co-owner, “and you can quote me on that. Kenyon Martin wasn’t trying to block the shot. He went right at Spencer when he was running full speed and at the (height) of his jump, when he was most vulnerable.

“Completely unnecessary. The Nuggets might not want to hear this, but there was no excuse for that, and he (Martin) needs to apologize to Spencer and our organization. That just wasn’t right.”

This, of course, is the second complaint from the Kings regarding Denver from that game.

Though Joe Maloof said he was going to bring up the incident at the NBA board of governors meeting, it`s highly unlikely that K-Mart will face any sort of punishment from the League.

I wouldn`t hold my breath waiting for that apology either, Joe.

And Kings fan should demand an apology from the Maloofs. They lost all their talent and got nothing in exchange. Can you believe these guys were a playoff power a few years ago?

  • Franchise

    so because it’s K-Mart it’s thuggery huh?

No new arena…no attendance records…worst team in league…small market city…players gettin’ steamed when they get worked…owners whining at opposing players…not even fun to watch…this team has already imploded and the Maloofs are still managing to make it worse…somehow. Just move the team to Vegas already so it really can be a stage show instead of just pretending in the valley. If Geoff Petrie doesnt make some moves this summer…I don’t know.

I was watching that game live and was kinda surprised, at the time, that they even called a flagrant foul.
Did Joe Maloof ever watch bball in the past?.
Referencing an earlier OakTree mention-that was a touch foul for him.

LTaylor “THIS AINT A TENNIS MATCH!!!”

I was at the game, and it wasn’t a big deal. Kenyon pushed him, and he hit his knee funny. It was unfortunate, but not a thug play. [But Kenyon has a way about him that makes him look like a thug regardless of what he does.] As for the King’s other complaint–that the Nuggets left Smith in after the game was a route–it is even more of a joke. The Kings were in the game until the last two minutes. And they left their starters in until the end.

Kenyon’s just angry because he hasn’t got a chin

Would a real thug have lips tattooed on his neck?

  • nickthaquick

If Reggie was doing that game, he’d have called it an inadvertent hit. That Kenyon lost his balance in the air and “accidentally” made contact with Spence. Just like he said the Ray Allen elbow to Verajao’s titanium nuts was inadvertent and unintentional, this a day after Ray himself said that he knew it was a cheap shot in retaliation for being thrown to the ground. I’m wearing my mute button every time Reggie starts talkin…

Yeah… Joe, I think you might have a little more to apologize for… Like, I dunno, does 16-65, soon to be 16-66 ring a bell? Does a crappy arena, a no-talent team (apart from K-Mart) that whinges when they get inevitably beat by a good team ring a bell? Does owners embarassing their franchise by using the word ‘thuggery’ ring a bell? Shut yo @ss up bleatch.

    Joe Maloof is aloof.

    (cow bells in background):
    Maloof-Maloof-Maloof is on fire
No talent team and the owners a cryer
(Ironically, immediately following the interview he was b**ch slapped by Rick Fox)

Joe..hey the entire fan base of the Sacramento area want an apology – your team is an eyesore.

  • Blinguo

Does that make Kenyon Martin a “Thuggerist”?
Shaq did the same play last night to Anthony Randolph(GSW lanky dude, potential player) with like 15 seconds to go in the season. WTFUX Shaq. It wasn’t like Shaq was about to be dunked on and tried to protect his basket/”not get dunked on ever” either. Passive aggressive, holding in all that season turmoil. Matt Barnes did the same to James “Flight” White for no reason mid season 2 years back in a SA/GSW blowout though.

  • chintao

This is a man’s world, but it wouldn’t mean nothing without a Maloof or a girl.

  • stokes

I thought this was the NBA not elementary school. Oh I hit I’m sorry, promise I won’t do it again. WTF. These guys get paid millions to play, so if they get hurt-they get millions while being hurt. Basically being hurt doesn’t keep them from getting rich. And just cause Hawes is hurt the Maloofs are still getting paid. So Maloofs shut up!!!!
