  • RuPaul

If it wasn’t for MJ, there wouldn’t be me.

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

    Chrome…can’t see it either.

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

It is, Eboy. One moment, and it’ll be up there.

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

It’s up there now. Just switched around the formatting a bit.

  • http://www.mykal1.blogspot.com MyKal

There he is, the world’s greatest.

  • Herfdawg

woohoo. though personally, i like watching the other MJ more. and by other MJ i mean Earvin. and by like watching more, i mean i have VHS tapes of Earvin playing back in the late 80′s.

  • http://slamonline.com Ryan Jones

Shot in a warehouse in Chicago. Atiba had about 8 minutes — literally — for the shoot, and I got (I think) 13 minutes for the interview. Turned out ok, though.

  • http://slamonline.com Ryan Jones

Oh, and he gave me sh*t for the seamless AF1s I was wearing, saying they were Brand Jordan rip-offs. That was memorable.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Gotta admit, I kind of hate post-NBA Jordan.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Ryan Jones

You’re way late on the hating-Jordan bandwagon, dude. I was on that sh*t in the early 90s.

  • Gift2basketball

    G.O.A.T.

  • the_man

    LeBron’s the next MJ!

  • the_man

    Ryan,
Sure you were. With as many MJ #ick riders as exist, especially on this post, I seriously refuse to believe that there are MJ hater-bandwagons! None!

  • http://hoops4life.com overtime

    A very special issue

  • @jaycro

    Damn you father time!

I want to see MJ in his prime on the court against Kobe & LeBron!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Ryan Jones

My history is well-documented in print and online, _man. If you haven’t done your homework, you’ll just have to trust me.

  • emoney12

if it wasnt for mj we wouldnt have anyone to compare rising and upcoming stars to

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

We wouldnt be here today if the old school didn’t pave the way.

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

It sucks that MJ is Old School fodder now.

  • the_man

    emoney,
If it wasn’t for dr J,there would be no MJ or anybody else to compare.

  • http://nicekicks.com MeloMan13

    GOAT period.

  • Jone

did you guys see jordan in last night’s against the lakers… he’s getting huge.

  • donovan

Someone cool put up Jordan’s 63-point game vs. the Celtics on YouTube… I didn’t check to see how long it had been up, but I watched that just this morning.

    Question time………..

    Who was better:

    MJ of 1990-1993

    or

    MJ of 1995-98

  • the_man

No! Magic Johnson is the G.O.A.T!

  • RedRum

MJ 1990-1993 is GOAT. I had the pleasure to watch him play since he came into the league. The 90-93 Jordan was the most dominant, ferocious, tenacious player ever, most importantly in both sides of the court. People seem to forget that MJ was the league’s best scorer AND best defender. Imagine the level of commitment and fitness the guy had! We say that LBJ and Kobe play defense, but they were peanuts in front of MJ.

People should go back looking early 90s tapes, see the level of dominance and intensity MJ had on both sides of the court, and then maybe that silly discussion of Kobe or LBJ being as good as he was would be over.

  • Kozmic

    G.O.A.T. Most definatley.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Ryan, Ryne, Lang, anybody. Have nearly every Slam printed. Exception? Issues 1 (LJ) and more importantly no. 50. Yes, the slam top 50 issue with “money” on the cover. Any suggestions in where to get ‘em?

  • stryfee

man i lost my SLAM 100 issue.

  • Jacob

    AIR JORDAN!!!!!!

  • chris

ok. Michael jordan is the cluchest player ever. He was really an icon. I have nothing to take away from him but…the best basketball ever, IMO, is oscar robertson. Basically averaged a triple double in his career. Averaged 26 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds a game! Only player to average a trip-doub in his career. Any1 agree?

  • chris

There at the end, I meant in a “season”

  • poohbiz

    make this a wallpaper

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Air Jordan is the man. Plain and simple.
But apparently Jukai thinks Tony Parker and LeBron James are better.
    WHAT A FRICKEN IDIOT!

  • http://slamonline.com/ Tzvi Twersky

last week a Kobe pic got almost 50 commments, can’t MJ top that? Come one guys!

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

just an answer for donovon up there about 6 posts ago…
which MJ was better…? I’d take the MJ that won a threepeat…oh it happened…TWICE.
I wouldnt even worry about that question dude…its like asking if your better person for having been awake for the past 10 hours… it was the same MJ. same killer instinct. same desire. same ability. what he did to kevin johnson, clyde drexler and whoever else you could name he did a couple of shorts years later to GARY PAYTON and John Stockton…
    goat.

  • chintao

When Jordan first hit, he was the man. By the time he won his first championship, he was just an advertising tool. Now, he’s fu(king-up his on-court legacy by making bone-headed decisions in the Charlotte front office. Nice work, MJ, you fuc(king mook.

  • chintao

Wait, I just got a great idea for the next SLAM cover. You get MJ, Bird, and Isiah to pose together, telling them that it’s for a retrospective. What goes unsaid is that the coverstory is on the worst GM’s ever and the arrogance that made them so bad.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

    GOAT.
We know that though. Anyways, Bird was a pretty decent GM for the Pacers/kinda still is.
That team with JO, SJax, Miller, Artest was gangsterr.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

    wtf Chintao seriously.
This year *THIS YEAR* I would give MJ Executive of the Year. *THIS YEAR*. Every other year he would be bottom 5 without a doubt.
His trade for Radman was awesome, Diaw has been great and been rejuevenated since the trade. Bell is a perfect player for Coach Brown (they were together in PHI btw).
He got another big body in at centre/pf with Diop and that takes minutes off Okafor and Wallace at the 5/4 spots respectively.

Jordan wasn’t exactly JUST an advertising tool either, but you’ve lost my respect already so whatever.

  • Manumaniac

    Teddy-the-Bear
Tony Parker is a good player, but he can’t be compared to MJ. He is good enouph to carry his shoes though.

  • Manumaniac

I find it weird that so many people keep questioning MJ’s level. Michael Jordan is the best player that ever played the game. The best player on the planet Earth. In his prime nobody could stop him from winning championships. There is not even a debate here. Kobe, Lebron and D-Wade are not even in the middle of the road of catching Jordan’s legacy. He was unique in every single thing you could think about.

  • Manumaniac

By the way, I would trade Lebron James and Tony Parker (together) for MJ in his prime every day of the week. As a matter a fact, I would trade all of San Antonio’s Big Three (Duncan, Parker, Ginobili) for Michael Jordan in his prime every day of the week!

  • ko

    got old…mikee mikee

  • http://www.slamonline.com Ryan Jones

Saber: There’s a link at the bottom right of this page for back issues — not sure if you can get 50 through there (and I’m sure you CAN’T get Ish 1), but it’s worth a look. Other than that? Ebay’s probably your best bet, especially for No. 1

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

    Dark…….I got ‘em all…….$1000.00 for #50? Yes?

  • http://sfdjilf.com Jukai

    MJ

  • http://sfdjilf.com Jukai

    will always

  • http://sfdjilf.com Jukai

    one up

  • http://sfdjilf.com Jukai

    KOBE

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

    Maybe more than oneup

  • Manumaniac

Kobe is the best of his time. MJ is the best of all times.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

IF Kobe wins two more titles, he will be the only person in history that you can debate with, being better than Jordan. PERIOD!!!!

  • BostonBaller

co-sign RedRum, they don’t compare to MJ defensively. Blocking shots from behind doesn’t count, locking your man down man o man o is supreme. Darksaber, how do you not have ish 1? Come on man show your age, I have EVERY ish plus the kicks and punks (Bounce 2)lol. I’m a junkie and have been since I stumbled across ish 1 in a “smoke” shop. I’ll check my stash to see if I have more than 2 copies of #50. If I do, it’s yours…

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Ryan: Thanks for the tip, tried already, no dice.
Eboy: a thousand? 1K? come on dude, i collect them to read and not to frame. Thanks, but no thanks

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

BostonB: i totally stumbled into Slam back then, started with issue 2, and didn’t really become a slam addict until around issue 5, back then i had no clue how to get my hands on back issues… If you find 2 copies of Issue 50 (actually THE main issue i want), i’d be willing to pay. Thanks for checking.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

You dummy……I was joking…….I meant $5000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Naw man…….50 is one of the issues I’m pretty sure I have one copy of. I started buying double issues around 70. Only certain old school ones I have doubles off. If i did….it be on the way too you.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Oh 5K? why didn’t ya say so.. Shake on it? hehe… that’s cool of you to look whitehot, appreciated.

  • chintao

Hursty==> I’ll admit I get a little carried-away sometimes, but I love slaying sacred cows. Anyway, I’ll try to meet you on the merits. Bird inherited a team that seemed to be on the rise, after winning 61 games in 2003-2004. He dismantled that team. Since that time, Indiana has devolved into a team that tends to be on the outside of the playoffs, looking in. This year, the team will have to get a little lucky to win 35 games. Now, I must admit that Bird did do well to get Granger, but I attribute that to nothing more than dumb luck. After all, Larry Legend probably is still Austin Croshere’s #1 fan.

  • chintao

As for your analysis of Jordan, I find it hard to believ that every other year Jordan is a bottom-five exec, but this year he manages to be one of the best. What do you think the odds are that LB told MJ to gamble a few extra holes on the golf course and just stay the fu(k out of the way? If Jordan truly conceived of and triggered the deals you’re talking about, it would be a much greater comeback than when he reappeared wearing #45 in The Garden. Regardless, if Jordan the player wasn’t just an advertising tool, then he was simply a tool — period.

  • chintao

Sorry, forgot to mention that those players you name on that Indiana squad you like? Everybody except S. Jax was a Donnie Walsh player.

  • truthteller

    chintao,
what do you have to say to guys who feel Magic is the greatest player of all time?

  • chintao

Oooh. Hit me where it hurts, truthteller. You must know that I kind of grew-up with Magic. Although he’s a tremendous player, who could play all five positions, I am not sure that he’s the G.O.A.T. I would think that Magic, Wilt, The Big O, and Kobe/LeBron definitely have to be in the conversation; however, I don’t think any of them can win it. As much as I hate Jordan the personality, I don’t think anybody can take that title from Jordan the baller.

  • Ali

Hey SLAM, where can I order previous issues?
