Miami Knows Nothing of this ‘Pressure’ that You Speak of

Playoff pressure. What Playoff pressure?: “The Heat’s young players don’t lack for confidence. ‘Michael’s probably the most confident guy in the room,’ rookie coach Erik Spoelstra said. At times, Spoelstra has found that self-assurance frustrating, as he’s sought better concentration. But he also finds it ‘fascinating,’ to see how they will handle increasing adversity. Here’s a guess: They’ll be fine. ‘These guys are not afraid to make big plays and take big shots,’ Haslem said. ‘Some guys who are eight, nine or 10 year vets, they run away from those moments.’ Heat fans can probably name a few. Wade’s current teammates, including Mario Chalmers and Daequan Cook? ‘They don’t know pressure. They don’t understand it. So they are going to be loose to play.’ Loose? Beasley wore goggles to the arena Thursday, partly to protect his eye after getting poked Wednesday night, and partly because ‘I just thought with the bush and the goggles, I’d look old school.’ Some thought he looked like former Jazz forward Thurl Bailey, but that name meant nothing to him. Beasley decided that he just looked ‘goofy.’”

    ATL, shawty.

  • Blinguo

Who will be the 1st new-age Heat to “shimmy”?
Wade is a lock to do so in situations where he makes the dope play, but his teammates? Who has the Shimmy in them?

  • Flash

enough talk, just help dwyane already!

‘Some guys who are eight, nine or 10 year vets, they run away from those moments.’ Oh….I wanna play……Mark Blount…..Jamario Moon….Mark Blount. Anyways….despite what you’ll read elsewhere…..D-Wade and 30Harry ain’t going to be denyed by some talonless birds.

  • Blinguo

What if those birds are dirty, EBOY?
Lang has the Vick uniform, does he also have the Jamal Anderson when he was at the height of his powers and pop culture relevance in the no-fun-league?

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

    It doesn’t matter……

  • Blinguo

Also, the Heat even have old vets in the 9-10 yr range? Moon was an overseas dude and was shipped around so total pro exp yeah, not NBA though? I was going to say, Magloire too but he’s only 10 yr vet in legs/endurance nowadays. Crazy when I looked at his yahoo stats page not too long ago and he was like drafted in 2000, All star by 03, all but irrelevant-fell off the planet by 08-09. Made Sportcenter highlights with his no look dunk though. He’s enjoying the NBA Life.

  • A D-Wade Fan!

    (Cough)Eddie Jones… Go Heat!

  • Blinguo

Eddie Jones has left the Memphis building long ago then Dallas?, not even mentioning the American Airlines Arena. And I guess the math is Magloire is a 10 year vet now, whoops.

Heat in 7 in an epic upset.

I canNOT wait for Sunday. I’m jumping up and down like those little kids in the Disney commercial. You know the one where the little guy says “I’m too excited to sleep”? That’s how I feel about the a$$ whupping that’s about to commence on the ‘Birds’ this series. The NBA, Where Smack Talk Happens.

  • chris

best 1st rd series without a doubt. Heat in 7. I would love to see a heat/blazers series in the finals but it aint happenin

  • adams

The Hawks are the better team, but I don’t know if they can overcome 15+ free throws a game for Wade.

  • Jose

Heat in a . and super mario hits a 3 again either to win it or OT .heh

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Chalmers knows about pressure, he wion me $200 in my office pool by nailing that clutch three against Memphis last year. I’m rooting for the hawks here, but Beasley is undeniably likeable.

@Blinguo – my money is on Chris Quinn – he will break it out first

  • http://www.basketballjerseyworld.com nba-jersey-king

Miami WILL NOT lose this series – I guarantee it.

  • Sesa

I think the Heat doesn’t have any pressure on taking the shot. In the terms of making the shot, that’s another story to tell…

  • http://www.broy7.com/roy/index nate the great

im so excited, wade is going to show up everyone if he doesnt win mvp, i think the heat are the dark horse of the east.
i would love to see the blazers vs heat matchup.
with my home town team of the blazers vs my 2k9 team of the heat. ;) .

  • http://www.basketballjerseyworld.com nba-jersey-king

@nate the great – that would be an awesome match-up but even as a Heat fan i think Portland is too strong…. too deep.

When noone believed that Miami could challenge for the Playoffs this season, I believed and predicted that my beloved Miami Heat could seed as high as fourth. They managed 5th. Now I believe that this team is capable of reaching the Conference finals.
Wade to reach a level of Jordanesque capabilities, and Beasley to unleash the Beast inside of him and show the NBA what’s to come in the future with Wade and Beasley. That’s just the feeling I’ve got about Miami in these Playoffs.
Reason I don’t see them going to the NBA Finals is because I think Miami will find Orlando in the Conference Finals and they just seem to be like a bogey team (won 2 of 8 over last two seasons against them).

  • Aristotle

Personal predictions…. EAST 1st Round Winners: CAVS/HEAT/MAGIC/BULLS. WEST 1st Round Winners: LAKERS/BLAZERS/SPURS/HORNETS. EAST Conf Semis Winners: HEAT/MAGIC. WEST Conf Semis Winners: LAKERS/SPURS. EAST Conf Final Winner: MAGIC (Only because they seem to keep getting us) WEST Conf Final Winner: LAKERS. NBA CHAMPIONS: LAKERS (HEAT if they beat Orlando).

Just have a feeling Wade will do freakish things to end up with a Finals MVP for the MVP award he’ll miss out on which James will recieve. Fingers crossed and prayers to be heard.

  • Quail

@ Aristotle: ok, i’ll tell u who WON’T beat the cavs…. the heat. and this is gonna be another 1 seed vs. 1 seed finals year.

  • Aristotle

@ Quail: That’s fair enough. It’s your belief versus my gut feeling. As good as Cleveland has been playing ans is capable of continuing that high level… I just can’t see it. But all the best to your team.

    RANDOM POINT #834:
At school, to gain ‘street cred’ I used to tell people that Thurl Bailey was my uncle!
