Sacramento Kings: Historically Bad

As such, heads are likely to roll: “With eight games left and the Kings (16-58) on track to be the worst team in the 50-year franchise history, the inability to finish close games has significantly hurt coach Kenny Natt’s chances of returning next season. The Kings have lost 10 consecutive games decided by seven points or fewer, turning the in-house spotlight to matters of coaching creativity and late-game control. Combined with the defensive effort that has continued to worsen after the Dec. 15 decision to fire Reggie Theus and his defensive coach, assistant Chuck Person, Natt’s chances of having his 2009-10 contract option picked up do not appear promising. And according to two sources close to the team, a familiar name from a past Kings coaching search is seriously being considered for the job. John Whisenant, the Monarchs’ general manager, was the front-runner for the Kings’ head-coaching job in 2006 before Eric Musselman was hired. Whisenant now appears to be the unofficial front-runner again if Natt does not return.”

In their defense, they’ve had some really close, really tough losses this season. Overtimes, buzzer beaters, you name it.

Wait, Chuck Person was a defensive coach?? Isn’t that akin to hiring Dennis Rodman to run your offense?

  • Pic

I was gonna say the same thing, you cant expect Chuck Person to teach defense!

  • From out of Nowhere

The Los Angeles Clippers: Historically worse.

  • From out of Nowhere

…well, except for this year. Though I think Sacramento’s future looks brighter than LAC’s.

Only if they get Professor Griff…

You could see the writing on the wall for this when they traded Artest for NOTHING. Sad. Back to the ’90s: Lakers doing their thing… Warriors, Clippers and Kings, all doing theirs. I think those latter three should just band together and form an all-star team. They MIGHT be able to beat the Lakers.

  • Gift2basketball

They suck but they have right pieces for the future..

  • donovan

    Such as??????

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

They should name the Vlade banner the new coach.

@gift2basketball, if you are the gift to basketball, i hope you came with a receipt, cause you don’t know what the hell you talkin about

they have the pieces, martin, young bigs in shock and hawes, garcia. They’ll have cap space and a top 4 pick this year to add to that. They need a PG and a coach. If somehow they land a 1st option scorer the futures looking mighty bright.

Kings, Clippers, Warriors, Twolves, Grizzlies, Wizards, ALL HISTORICALLY BAD

  • nate the great

they do kinda have some pieces.
    kevin, nociani, hawes.
if they get a good pick, and some veteren free agents they could be back in a few years.
clipps, wolves, and grizzlies are up and rising.

  • nate the great

i mean look at theier pieces, and what they can add.
    grizzs.
    o.j., conley, gay.
wolves, love, jefferson.. thats about it.
    clipps, i love eric gordan.
    he is amazing.

  • donovan

    Clipps “rising”?

    ???

    In what world???

Annual Clippers enthusiasm is just the silliest thing. Annually.

  • majic

clippers are screwed cap wise unless they trade out some players. The kings will be back within the next 2-3 seasons with things only looking on the up from here on out.

expect udrich to be traded on draft day and a FA like felton or sessions to be brought in, if not a young PG through the draft. From then on its simply a matter of playing together and waiting with our significant cap space.
