The Demise of J.O. Has Been Greatly Exaggerated

This, the Hawks are discovering first hand: “Dwyane Wade was supposed to be a problem. The Hawks knew that the moment the playoff pairings were announced. What they didn’t count on was the Miami Heat getting the inspired effort they’ve gotten out of veteran center Jermaine O’Neal. A six-time All-Star that has battled injures the past three years, O’Neal wasn’t viewed as a major threat by the Hawks until was too late. He struggled in the Hawks’ Game 1 win, but has rebounded with huge performances in Heat wins in Games 2 and 3. ‘JO has kind of had his way,’ Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. ‘He’s making shots now that have our bigs are somewhat frustrated.’”

Let’s hope it’s the start of the comeback. I’d like to see a return of the Pacers years come next season. With a seviceable 3 (Tay Prince, maybe?) we should be able to give the Cavs and Celts a run for their money.

Ms. Cheryl, if you guys get a good vet at the 3 to calm your troops and keep them focused they will indeeed be legit. (Good GMing on your part. Was this post initiated @ 11 AM Eastern time? This shows you how much JO has slipped on the interest scale. Sad, I like him.

Of course, it’s asking too much for Woodson to make a f*cking adjustment to defend him better…

Excellent use of his left hand. He and Boozer use the opposite hand nicely. J.O. nice game

You’re not going to get a Pacers level JO for a full season – his knees just won’t allow that. However, you can get some good minutes in the playoffs. Tay would be a great pick up – as would a refocused, healthy Luol Deng (good luck with trying to make that contract work though…). Cheryl, who would you be willing to give up to get Deng or Tay?

JO still has got a lot left… next season he’ll be back to All Star form…. but this season the Heat are taking the series 4-3 from the Hawks

No, he won’t be in All-Star form again. He’s a an above average big, but he’s not All-Star anymore. Injuries and inconsistency.
