TNT Continues to Dominate NBA Broadcasts

Despite Charles Barkley’s noticible absence, the NBA of TNT’s viewership scored major wins this season. Check the key improvements in the target demos: “TNT closed the books on another successful NBA campaign, posting a 14 percent increase in total viewers over the course of 53 regular-season games, with an average delivery of 1.71 million fans per contest. As expected, the core demos grew proportionately, as TNT notched a 17 percent improvement among viewers 18-49 (980,000, up from 835,000 in the ’07-08 season), while upping its share of adults 25-54 by 16 percent to 881,000.

“The highlight of TNT’s roundball coverage was the Feb. 5 Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers game, a rematch of the ’07-08 NBA Finals that drew 4.36 million viewers, the most for any NBA contest on cable this season. TNT also hosted the most-watched NBA All-Star Game in four years, as the Feb. 15 exhibition drew 7.69 million viewers, a 20 percent increase over the previous year’s East-West showdown.”

Now let’s talk about how much ABC sucks:XD

  • Coach Master

Aside from Hubie Brown, good riddance ESPN-ABC

Jeff Van Gundy makes poor games watchable and enjoyable.
Sh!t, that means almost a 1/3 of Canada was watching the All Star Game.

ESPN’s covergae is such garbage. I think Mashburn has definitely begun to match Reggie’s idiocy, except he seems even less self aware. and that Mark Jones dufus is a total Carlton.

TNT is by far the best broadcasting network for basketball.
I don’t generally like EPSN, but Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson revived their credibility.

My words exactly cramzy. NO MORE REGGIE

I like how TNT has specific game days (Tuesday and Thursday) like the NFL on Sunday and European soccer/Champions League on Saturdays/Wednesdays. And the matches are usually top teams so it can’t hurt their numbers. ESPN gets their game day on Friday night, not exactly prime tv time. I think this is what the NBA’s viewership would look like as a whole too if you didn’t add in Milwaukee and Memphis and others.

Improving you viewership is pretty easy when you rig the schedule so that the only pro games on TV are on one channel. I guess TNT dont care how many back-to-backs teams have to play, as long as theres only 3 games maximum on Thursday, that’s all that matters.

free jvg, mark jackson, and hubie!

Well, Stu Scott is still appallingly unwatchable and remains the worst in the business by far. Duh. And Mark Jackson is overrated, but Hubie Brown and JVG are fanatastic.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Reggie Miller is underrated. Seriously, maybe its because he’s one of my favorite players of all time, but I find him fine…
Also, Mark Jackson and JVG are the best color duo out there.
Hubie and them should jump ship to TNT.

Reggie Miller is a punk and needs to start looking for work elsewhere – this is a well known fact.

for the love of all things basketball: I wish that one day TNT will have the NBA Finals. Sigh.

Or it may take into account that Australia, just got TNT on One HD- which is (suprise suprise) only available on HD- One HD only came into existence this year.
That contributes to a major spike.

ESPN’s NBA coverage is terrible ’cause all they do slurp LBJ and and act like they really care about other players and dish out hate on anybody they don’t like, you know who! You guys should read the articles they post on ESPN.com. A few of them are objective and honest. The rest of ‘em…slurp! Slurp! Slurp! It’s pathetic!

Wow, that has to be the 1st and hopefully last time someone talks about slurping on this site. Lol!!
