Will D’Antoni Coach the 2012 Olympic Team?

His buddy Mike Krzyzewski certainly wouldn’t mind: “I don’t want to say who I think would be good (for the job), but Mike D’Antoni is a great friend and was huge in us winning the gold medal,” said Krzyzewski, “He’s really a genius, especially offensively. A lot of ideas we had on the offensive end of the court were Mike’s.” That said, whether Krzyzewski commits to coaching the 2012 Games or not, he fully expects to be involved in some capacity. “I’m interested in helping U.S. basketball go forward and I don’t know what role that will be in,” Coach K said.

He would really need a strong defensive mind on the bench next to him. Tom Thibodeau maybe?

That would either be a hell of a show or it would completely backfire and the US would crash out like in 04

Honestly, I’m not sure the coaching will matter that much. The Bron Wade CP3 triumverate along with Dwight, Melo, Bosh, PLUS the young guns Durant, Granger, Brandon Roy… I mean, damn.
I’m just gonna be happy that Kobe won’t be there trying his best to ruin the team.

OVER-RATED. Besides contracts coming off the books (which is not his job), how did the Knicks improve this year? Anybody could have gone 32-50 with that team. Not impressed. We’re basically giving him props for pushing the pace. Yeah you’ll score a lot but you’ll give up more, how does that help you? I hope people will realize that he had tremendous talent in PHX and you can’t just plug him into a team and expect wins. He’s a very good coach, I’m not denying that but I fail to see innovation in his systems : Nellie the Remix.

I think he would be great for the olympic team, he knows the european game/mindset.

Another reason to hate D’Antoni: It probably was his idea to have ‘Melo stand out at the 3-point line holding himself, while Kobe, Wade, and Bronny did whatever they wanted.

They should stick with the same coaching staff from the last olympics. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
