Jazz Could Aggressively Shop Kirilenko

Kirilenko, who has one of the League’s most unappealing contracts, will have to go in order to keep Carlos Boozer, Mehmet Okur and Kyle Korver — all who can opt-out this summer: “It appears unlikely the Jazz can avoid being luxury-tax payers and bring back both Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko. Kirilenko is owed $34.3 million through ’10-11, an especially unappealing contract for teams trying to clear cap space for the summer of 2010. [...] There could be a taker for Kirilenko’s contract in Golden State, where coach Don Nelson long has been among the Russian forward’s biggest fans.”

AK47 in the bay = Trainwreck
    Don’t do it, Nelly.

  • vegas

I would trade AK and a first round pick for Monta Ellis

  • http://allanzuss@yahoo.com Mendel

AK47 is going to Russia. I would not pay him squat.

  • finest hour

he’s still a good defensive player
jazz could jet some value for him.

if AK ends up in GS, the Warriors are gonna be a helluva team!! just imagine a duo of Biedrins and Kirilenko, dammn – that’s a killer!!!!

boards, blocks, speed you know Nelly’s mom ain’t raise no fool

I’m intrigued, yet horrified. We already have one lanky Eastern European with bad hair anyhow.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    LOL @ tenorca.

  • Coach Master

AK could play Nellie ball and give some swats…just do it.

Hmmm… Kirilenko out of SLC? He might go all Chris Anderson with that freedom and get some serious ink and refine the ‘Ivan Drago’ flat top…

Why are the Jazz trying so hard to keep together a core that lost 4-1 in the first round?

Boozer’s the guy they need to lose. Play Millsap full time at PF and use that money to get a real 2 guard.

  • matt

the jazz and warriors need to get this done

  • http://sjsu.edu davidR

the bay doesnt want more skinny injury prone forwards

Damn, I didn’t even realize AK47 was getting paid like that for that long. He stopped being relevant 2 years ago. Good luck trading that contract Utah.

  • Tavoris

AK47 is still a quality player…I think he’d be GREAT on a team where he’ll get to run & show his versatility (Indiana, Toronto, Phoenix, GS, etc).

  • The Starks Knight

The Raps only feign a running game. Hopefully Colangelo isn’t dazzled by AK47′s “versatility” If Phoenix still has delusions of grandeur then Kirilenko could be the perpetually elusive MISSING PIECE.

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

This is the sound of any hope the Warriors had of reclaiming 2007 glory crashing and burning.

  • K-Nasty

I agree with Boing. The Jazz have gone as far as they can with their current team. Now you need to start moving some pieces.

  • Tavoris

The Starks, AK47 does EVERYTHING well except shoot (in which he’s just ok). He can handle the ball well enough to play backup PG in stretches (don’t laugh, he’s done it for the Jazz), he can defend most 2s, 3s, and 4s, and he’s always been an excellent passer. He can be the sort of do-everything guy that Tayshaun Prince is-as long as he’s getting enough touches to be happy.

  • thesubwayconnection

    No mention of Milsap?

  • $tev3

But wat do the Jazz get from the Warriors

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

    Jessica Alba.
