Darko on Broadway?

Word in rumor-ville is that New York and Memphis are closing in on a trade: “The Knicks are on the verge of acquiring the second pick of the NBA draft. The second pick of the 2003 draft, that is. A deal that would send Quentin Richardson to Memphis for Darko Milicic, the player selected after LeBron James and before Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade, is close to being finalized. The 7-foot Milicic has been a disappointment since entering the league but he would give the Knicks a shot-blocker on their front line. Both Milicic and Richardson are entering the last year of their contracts. ‘We’re just having conversations,’ said one Knicks source. ‘Nothing is done yet.’”

This is going to sound INSANE, but this would actually be a very decent trade for both teams.

I’m ready for Darko to have his break-out year. It’s coming right?

Wouldn’t it be CRAZY if D’Antoni made Darko a 25-12-5 player? And suddenly everyone realizes he actually IS better than Carmello and Wade and Bosh?
    that would make my life!

He’s a decent big man and still young so it would be a good trade for the Knicks

You guys have a very loose definition of ‘decent’. He’s a 5-4-0.7(!) career guy! Garbage in every system and very foul prone.

Well,D’Antoni turned Steve Nash into a future Hall-Of-Famer so I guess he can turn Darko into a decent player

Here’s the chance for the Knicks to get 2 busts on the draft day instead of their annual one bust draft pick.

According to this article, Darko Milicic was selected BEFORE Carmello Anthony and Dwayne Wade!!!! Not sure why they had to pour that lemon juice in my 2003 draft day paper cut… If only Detroit had any of those players… That one still hurts me…

If D’Antoni can make Darko into a double-double player, he should win COY hands down.

I actually though from the title, that Darko was going to try acting. He really should, you know?

  • [...] fit in very nicely with the Knicks up-and-down offense. It should also be noted that the Knicks swapped Quentin Richardson and cash for Darko Milicic in a deal with the Grizzlies. Clearly D’Antoni [...]
