Del Harris Will Soon Hang Up the Clipboard

He’s been at it for a very long time, he deserves the break: “Although the Bulls officially remain mum on the subject, it appears assistant coach Del Harris is set to retire, according to multiple reports…Harris, who turns 72 June 18, was with the Bulls for one season, capping a 50-year coaching career. He led the Houston Rockets to the 1981 NBA Finals and was named NBA Coach of the Year in 1995 with the Lakers. Harris’ NBA career began as a Rockets assistant in 1976. He compiled a 556-457 overall record with Houston, Milwaukee and the Lakers.”

As a Mavs fan from the early 2000s, I’m gonna miss Del. He always had to close out games for us, since Nelly was getting tossed.

25 years after taking the Rockets to the finals against Boston in 1981(they lost in 6 games), as assistant coach in 2006 Del helped lead the Mavs to the finals against Miami. The Mavs were robbed by that crook referee who finally got caught gambling on and throwing games…don’t remember HIS name. Does anyone else remember the name of the guy who robbed Del of his long-sought-after ring?
