DeRozan Promises Toronto Many Highlight-Reel Plays

DeMar is the second coming of Vince Carter, according to the man who picked him and DeRozan himself: “Toronto here I come. Air Canadas back.” No pressure! “He’s got the physical tools reminiscent of the player people say he kind of reminds them of, and that’s Vince Carter,” Colangelo said. “He’s got that kind of raw, physical talent that hopefully he can hone and can be brought together.”

Vince Carter was the first thought that came into my head when they picked him also. While I don’t think he’ll be as good as Carter, hopefully he’ll be less of a headcase.

i think minny should have taken him instead of flynn

His nickname should be DD because just like a bra, he got bust.

    How about promising more wins?

  • Remo Williams

as long as he’s willing to miss clutch baskets and give 50% effort in some games, he definitely has a shot at becoming vc version 2

  • Tyquan

This was probably the most underrated pick in the whole draft besides the Nuggets getting Ty Lawson in a trade with Minnesota. I hope DeRozan can turn out to do half of what Vince did in Air Canada. But just like most of these young cats its gonna take some time but if so DeRozan is worth the wait because I do see alot of young VC in him.

I can’t wait to see this guy develop, he was a steal for toronto, he was a top 5 pick in my opinion.

this is the FIRST time i’m actually happy for a pick made by the toronto raptors. can’t wait to see the kid play and develop.

vince carter is a pushing it a bit. i don’t remember vince being this raw. the j is not as smooth, the handles are not as tight. at this point, it’s more like desmond mason.

Until he proves something, I’m going to call Demar “WestJet”

    Z is correct.

  • Nick Adams

High hopes here … any realistic TO fan knows he probably will never come close to having VC’s impact, & we wouldn’t expect it – as long as he doesn’t quit & force his way out, we’ll like him just fine.

But a pretty good pick by Toronto standards in the past few years (outside of Bargs).

  • seven deuce

at this point he’s more of a forward than a wing, being that his perimeter skills are very basic. Hope he stays in the gym this summer.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

YEAH DEMAR! At least he’s keeping us Raptors fans happy and anticipating the season to start early.
The Raptors made a great pick this year. Demar’s jumpshot isn’t that bad, either. Give him a bit of time and he’s going to shine.
Maybe not Vince Carter in his PRIME –remember, Vince Carter is mad lazy now– , but I see this dude being much better than Desmond Mason. Who knows, if DeRozan develops the right way, I see a little bit of old T-Mac in him.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

This is awesome for Toronto. Goodness this cheers me up after the whole Knicks/Hill debacle. The Raptors finally have a player fun to watch…

u guys are forgetting, Vc was in college for 3 years, derozen just had one. i’m prettu sure it u look at VC highlights from just his freshman year the comparisons would seem more realistic

    Great point meloman

I have so much respect for a guy like this eager to play in Toronto. Rubio doesn’t even want to play in Minnesota.

If you are going to compare him to a former Toronto prospect I think McGrady is a better one. When McGrady came to the league he was extremely athletic, but very raw. Carter had a lot more polished of a game and was ready to play right away, as well as having freakish athletic ability. It’s a little lofty to comparte him to the best dunker of all time too.
