Detroit Could Pursue [Insert FA Here] During Offseason

The Pistons might be interested in Hedo Turkoglu this summer, but will he (or any other free agent) be interested in signing? “Hedo Turkoglu could become a free agent if he opts out of the final year of his contract. Word is Detroit may have an interest if he doesn’t remain with Orlando.”

    The Pistons need to figure out what they want to do next season. I hate that extension they gave Rip, but that’s done already. So you have Stuckey, Rip and Maxiell to build around. To me, Tayshaun is expendable. Hes a nice player, but the Pistons really need to get better now in order to stay relevant. Moving Tayshaun would allow them to move Rip to the three at times (unless they bring in a bigtime SF like Hedo) and draft another Guard (Eric Maynor?) and possibly sign another big (Gortat?).
    They’ve also already paid Maxiell so, IMO, bringing Boozer over would be a total waste, unless they can get rid of Maxiell.
    I guess this axiom holds true for this Motown team with cap room to blow:

    I can’t believe you are interested in moving Tayshaun then in the next breath call Hedo “bigtime”. Hedo is not the reason the Magic are in the Finals. He is one of the reasons the Magic might get swept. For all of the skills Hedo has, his D is suspect and you would never consider putting him on Kobe. If you had a Tayshaun instead of a Hedo on the Magic the matchups, IMO, would be more even. The Magic would still get their asses handed to them but still… Tayshaun isn’t the problem with Detroit. Picking Darko, trading away Chauncey, letting Ben Wallace go, not retaining Larry Brown, not finding a job for Isiah Thomas pre-Knicks, etc etc HAHA on the last one

    I know the last message wasn’t directed at me, but if rumors are true that Dumars is interested in signing Hedo, then I believe that Prince will be moved. There is no reason to keep Prince around if Detroit signs Hedo, unless you plan on trading Rip and moving Hedo to the 2. I honestly cannot see that working. I know Tayshaun isn’t the problem in Detroit, but i’m not convinced he is the answer anymore either. I just haven’t seen enough conviction in him to try and be the All Star caliber player I know he can be. Dumars may as well look at moving him while his stock is still high.

    $tev3: I’m not saying Detroit will trade Rip, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. I honestly believe Dumars messed up by re-signing Rip to 5 more seasons. I like Rip, but isn’t as effective offensively without a dominant PG. Rip also went into a huge funk after his BFF Billups got traded. He was even thinking of requesting to be traded at the time and had those thoughts again when he got assigned the 6th man role. At this point, the Pistons may consider trading everyone outside of Stuckey.

    @ Be-A-Real – They didn’t let Ben Wallace go, CHicago grossly overpaided him and he took an offer he couldn’t refuse. The trading Chauncey thing really can’t be judged until they use the money they got for him. That being said, I’d love to see Chris Kaman paired with Boozer, Milsap, David Lee, David West, or Chris Bosh (not likely). That’d be a great start in rebuilding.

    Good riddance to Hedo though to be honest..disappointed this season,especially during the playoffs.Never attacks the basket anymore and just jacks up three’s at the end of the shot clock.
