GM Morey on Heated McGrady Trade Talks

The man steering the Rockets’ ship says his phone won’t stop ringing when it comes to T-Mac: “Rockets general manager Daryl Morey described other teams’ pursuit of Tracy McGrady and the final season of his contract as ‘very aggressive’ …’We’re getting a lot of interest on Tracy, and I do have to listen,’ Morey said. ‘It’s my job to make this team as ready to win the title as possible. I think the reason we are going to have a pretty high bar on moving him is because he still provides exactly what coach (Rick Adelman) and I thought we were missing, which was a guy who can get a high-quality shot at the end of the game. That said, we want to position ourselves for the playoffs, it looks like it’s going to be hard for Tracy to be here for a good chunk of the year, so if we can get a talented player who helps us all season, I think we have to look at it.’”

In other words, please someone take him off our hands… but nice job making it sound like a lot of teams want him to create a buz.. May be Celtics GM should learn on how to sell a player from Morey.

^^^^dummy, there really are many teams wanting mac. for one, its the last year of his contract. for two, outside chance he will get healthy and regain his form.

    • Jukai Posted: Jun.25 at 12:02 pm
      Send him to Boston/Lakers/Cavs.
I don’t know why or how he’d fit on any of those teams, I just wanted to be popular.

      Dear Joe Dumars,
Please be one of the GMs on the other end of the line.
      Thanks,
      TADOne

Does anyone have faith that not only will T-Mac’s knee hold up, whenever he decides it good enough, but that he’ll get in the shape he’ll need to be in to regain his form? Remember, now that the knee is recontructed, I’m guessing he’ll have to drop some weight to lessen the impact on his knees.

You know who could really use a half healthy T-Mac? The Magic or the Raptors. Weird.

    • Royal Posted: Jun.25 at 1:06 pm
Trade him to the clippers for Z-Bo

    • rainman10 Posted: Jun.25 at 1:17 pm
well there are the Suns rumors floating around…

    • B. Long Posted: Jun.25 at 1:24 pm
Royal: The absolute last thing the Clippers need is a another injury prone one time superstar…so I’m sure they’ll trade for him.

    • The Seed Posted: Jun.25 at 1:38 pm
The Spurs should have got TMac instead of RJ.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.25 at 2:03 pm
@ The Seed: You really think the Rockets would be dumb enough to trade T-Mac for Kurt Thomas and Bruce Bowen?

      Mark MY Words
T-Mac to NY for the 8th pick in Tonights Draft

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.25 at 2:35 pm
Steve, I’m a Knicks AND a Rockets fan. That’s not a very good trade for either team.

    • Johnathon Romberto Posted: Jun.25 at 2:41 pm
The least the Rockets will get for McGrady is a high lottery pick.

    • JE Posted: Jun.25 at 2:44 pm
I think that Phoenix trade is going to happen. The Suns doctors can fix him, and then he’ll be good to go for the summer of 2010. Perfect.

    • Ciolkstar Posted: Jun.25 at 3:05 pm
The biggest issue with T-Pain is that he’ll miss atleast the first half of next season. And with his history of half-assing rehab I’d be surprised if he’s plays even 10 games at full strength next season.

trade T_MAC to the grizzlies for the second round pick

    • Roy Posted: Jun.25 at 3:22 pm
Phoenix is a good destination for T-Mac. The best place for him to get back in great shape. Grant Hill is a good example btw. :)

    • Harrell Posted: Jun.25 at 3:41 pm
He Go n to the Spurs

    • BETCATS Posted: Jun.25 at 3:44 pm
He wont be going to the Spurs. They wont trade him to another team in their division/in the same state.

    • RV Posted: Jun.25 at 4:17 pm
i’m still not sure why we couldn’t/wouldn’t get Carter for tmac…..now he’s going to orlando

    • Johnathon Romberto Posted: Jun.25 at 4:27 pm
If your phone keeps ringing, then pick it up! The Rockets haven’t made a move yet and big trades are happening.

    • bashmo Posted: Jun.25 at 4:35 pm
TEddy The Bear its actually pretty good trade for houston, because they can draft a fresh 2 guard, eg the likes of Terrence Williams or even Demar Derozan. Then we’re looking at hardcore champ contenders.

    • Exile Posted: Jun.25 at 5:21 pm
      http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=282860 Carter trade!!

    • doyouwantmore Posted: Jun.25 at 5:25 pm
      T-Mac don’t even like basketball.

    • rainman10 Posted: Jun.25 at 5:35 pm
      Lovin Vinsanity on the Magic.

    • rainman10 Posted: Jun.25 at 5:46 pm
T-Mac will come back from the injury sooner than you think. And he will be better than you think. Contract year.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.25 at 6:09 pm
Rockets really need to try and plead with the Hornets for that Chris Paul trade. That would be a great way to move T-Mac. Not sure if the Hornets will bite, though.

    • JoeMaMa Posted: Jun.25 at 11:52 pm
T-Mac: 10 points in under a minute in a random game!!
      Also: ……………..
      And don’t forget: ……….???

TMac to the Lakers for Adam Morrison

    • Anton Posted: Jun.26 at 2:36 pm
      lol @ JoeMama. truth

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.26 at 9:02 pm
@ rob: Maybe I wasn’t specific enough: Its an ACTUAL trade rumor dude. And the Hornets would be getting more than T-Mac, they’d be getting Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier.. The actual trade is more than just Chris Paul for T-Mac obviously.

    • sTill - MAtiC Posted: Jun.28 at 6:54 am
T-mac for a Surgeon, Emergency Room, Surgery Knife + Cash Considerations and Penny Hardaway out of retirement.

    • Big Kobe Fan Posted: Jun.28 at 11:31 pm
send him to the lakers kobe+t-mac=championship repeat for the lakers.

    • JayMan Posted: Jun.29 at 6:06 am
I think T-Mac makes sure he plays through (most of) the season and plays well. He is on a contract year and, with his health rep, the rest of his career will be pretty much hang in the balance. Chances are, if he won’t agree to 1 or 2-year deals, the next long-term contract he signs will be his last. That said, I won’t mind having him go to my Pacers to pair with Danny Granger – specially while Dunleavy is out of commission. An in-form T-mac will help us get into the playoffs. Maybe for a package of Murphy and Ford. Murph’s a double-double machine with serious range who’ll space the floor for Yao. TJ will share point duties with Brooks who the Rockets are high on.
