Mark Jackson to Coach Minnesota?

by Ben Osborne

Pro Basketball News is reporting that Mark Jackson is going to be named the new head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Multiple sources have told Pro Basketball News that Mark Jackson has emerged as the leading candidate for the position and will wind up with his first coaching gig.

Jackson, 44, has worked as a lead analysts on broadcasts for ESPN/ABC since 2007 and was linked to the New York Knicks opening filled by Mike D’Antoni last offseason. He’s made no secret of his desire to coach in the NBA, telling reporters in L.A. just last week that it’s “been a dream of mine, like anyone who’s ever played the point guard position and has been the extension of the coach on the floor. I’ve been tempted to run a show my entire life.”

Given the utmost confidence I have in Mark, arguably the biggest overachiever in NBA history, we may not be calling them the “L-Wolves” much longer.

Mark Jackson is the most underrated point guard ever! He was a great player, great announcer, and now in time he will be a great coach. Wanted him for the Bulls job last year (although i love what Del Negro is doing)

Mark Jackson should have gone to Chi. Tom, you love what Del Negro is doing? Or Del Harris and the rest of his ‘assistants’? Del Negro lucked out with Rose and an always talented team who were underachieving. His coaching SUCKS. Give Chicago a decent coach and they are at least as good as ATL. Plus Mark Jackson coaching Rose only spells good things.
