Shaq Vs. The (Maybe) G.O.A.T. At H.O.R.S.E.

The MDE puts out a challenge.

The latest chapter in Shaq’s Twitter fun could involve the NBA’s original Superman playing H.O.R.S.E. against an average-looking guy with superhuman trick-shot abilities.

At around midnight Eastern Time on Tuesday/Wednesday morning, Shaq posted on his Twitter account that he wanted to play a guy who seems to be a trick-shot wizard in a game of H.O.R.S.E. for a thousand bucks. He asked his Twitter followers to help find the guy in the video:

“i wanna play this guy n horse for a thousand dollars, find him pls http://bit.ly/CK5nk”

Within minutes of posting the video, Shaq was flooded with responses. The most notable came from the guy who claims to have edited the video. Named LeftLane_6CEO on Twitter, the guy told Shaq that the guy in the video, Bruce Manley, is ready to take him on.

The only thing is, this might be the greatest H.O.R.S.E. player ever, provided the video is legit. I spent a good hour watching and re-watching this stuff on Tuesday night. I asked Russ to idiot-proof it for me, in case I missed something and he said it LOOKED legit (note the caps).

If this is in fact for real, the guy is a trick-shot phenom. My personal favorite is the jump-off-the-tree, behind-the-back shot, that goes through cleaner than any free throw Shaq has ever made.

Which leads to the question: just how out-matched might Shaq be in this game of H.O.R.S.E. if dunking isn’t allowed? A career 52.8-percent free-throw shooter, the Most Dominant Ever may have bitten off more than he can chew in issuing this challenge.

Hopefully this leads to at least a good 15 minutes of fame for a guy that in one video, LL6 calls, “the next Pistol Pete.”

    I grew more and more amazed watching that video until the last shot. The one he makes over the wall behind the back without being able to see the rim. Ya right. Like Mulder, I WANT TO BELIEVE. But gimme a break. Fake.

    I’m interested to know how many of each shot he had to attempt before one went in. depending on the numbers, it would clarify whether he is great at trick shots, or whether he has way too much time on his hands.

    I is impossible to throw the ball behind your back that far and that high. The guy doesn’t look very big and doesn’t take much of a wind up so I don’t see how it can be real.

    They are mostly all fake. Unless he spends hours a day for not even weeks, but months to be able to shoot over a wall, of a tree, from 1.5 court lengths. These are just like the Powerade commercials with LeBron shooting from full court, Andy Roddick serving the ball into the clay, and Michael Vick throwing almost over the stadium. If you have the right editing equipment you can make anything look real and seemless.

    I doubt the behind the wall stuff is real, but what makes the video seem legitimate is because when he shoots it, the you can ACTUALLY see the ball when its in the air. Notice in those LeBron Nike commercials, when he shoots it the ball “mysteriously” goes out of the frame, then somehow dips back down into our view and goes in.
    All the shots I saw this guy do in the video all included the ball in the frame.

    most of them look real. and i have no doubt that with enough time he could make most of those shots. what didnt look real was the one where he jumped off the tree. he shot the ball from behind the hoop and it never got high enough to get over the backboard and come down thru the hoop.

    all the shots are legit. ive known bruce my entire life and hes always had uncanny ball handling skills. and the creativity to match. half these shots noones ever seen b4!! and if they werent so unbelievable noone would be doubting his skills. . u think he would even attempt playing shaq if he couldnt back up his vids ? lol come on now people. ..this is gonna be a sick game of horse win lose or draw . get em bruce. oh and p.s if u check out his earlier vids without the slo mo u can really see how real he is lol the slo mo is jus for effect . but hey, if i didnt know him id have my doubts as well.

    Any1 who thinks its fake is wrong. I know bruce and ive seen his shots in person. He is from sparta,nj and i used to play pick up games with him all the time. All the leftlane6 vidoes were filmed in florida, but he has other clips that include footage from ungerman courts and tyler park in sparta. Stop hating.

    listen to the excitement in the voices of the guys reacting. that’s theoretically the easiest thing to fake, but who would bother? looks real to me. on the other hand, will he be able to stay cool with all 350+ of shaq standing in front of him?

    This is 100% legit. I played basketball with Bruce in high school, and he used to do this stuff in games ALL THE TIME. I dunno if he can do it with Shaq staring him down, but everything in this video is real.

    Bruce is the real deal! i have know him since high school and he has been insane like this always! He used to be down at ungerman everday after school playing bball, and many people tried to take him down and beat him and they would play and loose and be amased how insane his skills were! go get bruce!!!

    What makes me think this is fake is the 10 posters that just came in who “HAVE KNOWN BRUCE SINCE HIGH SCHOOL AND HAVE SEEN HIS INSANE SCHOOL!” at the same time.
    If Shaq takes this deal, he should do it in another court with a different type of rim.

    Shaq is rich. He can give a thousand dollars away. In fact, he was in Boston a few years ago and a friend claims to have witnessed The Diesel walking up to sleeping homeless people and putting hundred dollar bills in their pockets. Shaq just wants to do this to have fun. That said, this kid has played the original NBA Street way too much, and it’s pretty clear he created his character in that game with no height and no hops since the under the leg lay-ups are all those guys are capable of.

B-Man is insanely sick with a ball, and this video, AND Bruce are completely for real. NO photoshop, NO CGI. Completely legit, so stop hatin’ people. Now we just have to see if Shaq is for real, or if he quietly backs out of this one, because he may have just bit off more than he can chew with this kid. Get ‘em Bruce Man! Sparta NJ baby!

    Everyone who posted fake, you are the dullest blade in the kitchen. It takes 2 seconds of searching the web to find allot of video of this guy including video of him missing a few times before hitting some of these shots. Its all completely real and so easy to verify that I must now call all of you haters IDIOTS. And I didn’t go to HS with him I have never heard of him, but I have heard of using the search function. Idiots.
