Varejao to Test Free Agency

$6 mil is a lot of money to leave on the table for a player of Varejao’s caliber: “Anderson Varejao did not meet with the media Sunday, but a league source said that he intends to opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. This option was part of three-year offer sheet Varejao signed with the Charlotte Bobcats that the Cavs matched in 2007. Varejao will likely leave $6.2 million on the table coming off a season in which he set career highs in starts (42), points (8.6) and field goal percentage (.536).  The Cavs retain his rights so they can exceed the salary cap to sign him. But unlike 2007, they will not be able to automatically match an offer such as the one the Bobcats extended. Varejao has said he wants to remain with the team and the Cavs are believed to be interested in bringing him back — if they can come to terms.”

i hope that cleveland wont resign him, there a lot of players better than him

Let him go. They should have never signed him when he held out the first time. He’s a wannabe Fabricio Oberto. The difference is that Oberto knows his roll and shuts his mouth.

Yer he was pretty average in the Orlando series, stupid move by him after he showed how expendable he is. Let him walk.

it’s always dangerous to overestimate your own commodities. there’s no need to overpay for varejao because the market is not there for him. even though they ended up doing quite well for themselves, orlando overpaid for raw lew by bidding against themselves. i say lowball the dude and see if someone puts something better on the table.

My guess is that Sideshow Mop wouldn’t be a starter on most other teams. Memphis included…

what an idiot…he should be a 4-5 million player tops. nobody else in the nba likes him so keep him in cleveland where they send all the sh*tty players nobody likes

I think right about now Dwight Howard would say something along the lines of, “…but the anxieties of this system of things and the deceptive power of riches and the desires for the rest of the things make inroads and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful…” (NWT)
