    Warriors are Keeping Stephen Curry

Don Nelson wants Curry to get familiar with his new surroundings: “Stephen Curry can get comfortable. Coach Don Nelson isn’t sending his newest high-scoring guard anywhere. Nelson firmly declared the Warriors won’t trade Curry. ‘He can unpack his bags and relax,’ Nelson said. ‘He can buy a house. We drafted him because we think he’s a terrific player that fits right into our program. He ain’t going anyplace.’ Many wondered whether Golden State drafted Curry at Phoenix’s behest for a subsequent trade. After all, point guard Monta Ellis is about the same size and plays much the same style of game. Ellis ’should be happy that he’s got a sidekick that’s very good,’ Nelson said. ‘I think he’s going to be able to play right away.’”

Wonder what team is now the favorite to win the Amar’e derby…

    • jumpman3224 Posted: Jun.29 at 11:07 am
Unless the Knicks can work out a deal for Rubio I am marking them as the favorite.

curry is a deadly shooter and perfect for oaktowns system. monta, curry, jack, corey, and biedrins looks nice.

    • Boing Dynasty Posted: Jun.29 at 11:21 am
Don Nelson to Steph Curry: “So, um the guy we were going to trade you for wants a multi year deal at 20+ mill per season, so i guess were keeping you, um, you can take the open locker beside Stephen Jackson. Oh and rook, try not to wear to much blue.”

i still think GS drafted Curry simply to watch NY cry.

    • niQ Posted: Jun.29 at 11:48 am
      on another note,
in a point guard heavy draft, and the fact the Knicks WANT a point guard.. you would’ve expected them to DRAFT a point guard… it would’ve only made sense…

Yea, thats what Warrios need. Another Shooter. Still no playmakers or post presence. It’s only been proven their system only works to win some games in reguarl season. That’s it. Doesn’t make sense what they’re doing with Curry.

I’m really starting to dislike Don Nelson.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.29 at 1:13 pm
      NOOOOOOO

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.29 at 1:15 pm
@ niQ: Yeah, the Warriors and the Timberwolves completely screwed the Knicks over this draft. Frick.
Granted, the Knicks should have drafted Brandon Jennings. But hey, for some reason Donnie loves drafting Forwards when we need GUARDS. Remember last year? The Knicks could have had Eric Gordon. Donnie and D’Antoni decided on Danilo Galinari. Look how that worked out… Frick.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.29 at 1:16 pm
Monta Ellis to New York. NOW. Make it happen Donnie!

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.29 at 1:22 pm
It would be a perfect fit for Monta. Monta to the Knicks for Nate Robinson and some other guys.

    • niQ Posted: Jun.29 at 2:17 pm
I have to agree with Teddy about Jennings. It would have been a better selection. And I remember reading scouting reports that they were also interested Holiday. Actually, MANY teams were interested in Jrue. Yet, somehow he dropped down to 17. I think either of those 2 would have been a smart pick for NY. Now I’m not saying Hill is a bad player, I’m just saying since they wanted a point guard, they should’ve drafted one.

    • Boing Dynasty Posted: Jun.29 at 2:27 pm
It makes perfect sense for the Warriors to keep Curry even though they have a 23 year old shooting guard who leads the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage. Oh wait.. no it doesn’t.

Last comment wasn’t Boing, it was me. The IT guys need to get their stuff together! lol

lol @ Z: Sometimes I come to SLAMonline and thesubwayconnection’s info is all in my comment box section.

^ that sucks for that one time someone’s full name was in his email and someone called it out, but hilarious none the same. I just get a blank field, which is much better. Plus who wants to copy/satire my jibbah jabber posts? Just delete their info out and put yours back in and don’t go crazy if your comment doesn’t go through the 1st time is a good rule of thumb. And Don Nelson is out ofter this season finally. So no matter how crazy genius he seems to be, Monta’s no point guard, nor is Curry a good running mate for him. Both are very good at one thing with glaring holes in other duties for starting guards. Jax is the starting 2, until Curry comes on and Jax becomes the 3 is what they also reported to saying - GM of the Warriors in Comcast Sports local interviews. Can anyone say New Per game/Turnover record? And yeah, Anthony Morrow and Azubuike shot it at 47% and 45% from 3. I still don’t want them to pay $90 mil for Amar’e though, giving up half a team.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jun.29 at 3:20 pm
Anthony Morrow has huge upside in the future.

Speaking of rumors: Yao out for life? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-yaorockets062909&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

    • Blinguo Posted: Jun.29 at 3:31 pm
Word. Coaching staff says he doesn’t take bad shots ever. His form is excellent, starting with squaring up and always making sure his feet are correct - this is what he showed in an interview about how he practices those 100’s of gym rat jumpers. He doesn’t have the quirky shot put jump forward style of Rashard, as a drastic example, even tho ‘Shard is still accurate with that one. That other Anthony, Randolph, everyone nationwide or at least on SLAM here, seems to like too.

    • niQ Posted: Jun.29 at 3:59 pm
that’s so true. I once had some random name entered before i had typed anything. but luckily i changed it before submitting the comment.

      [...] Warriors Keep Curry [...]

    • JESSEG Posted: Jun.29 at 4:41 pm
So the Warriors are not trading for a game changing post player who happens to be an all star? All because they wanna keep a guard like the one they already have who more than likely will never get to Amares level in his NBA career? As a Suns fan I want to say thank you! I hope Amare Stays in Phoenix.

    • Boing Dynasty Posted: Jun.29 at 5:24 pm
Why is my name on a comment i didnt write? (2:27)

    • Blinguo Posted: Jun.29 at 5:51 pm
Tech mixups. Been going on for a while around here. Just bear with it and Z posted that it was him and he didn’t intentionally use your name and info.

i think the players on the knicks kno they suck, and always will.
      haha.
im liking brandon jennings more and more.
i mean he tells it how it is.
are the knicks weak? yes, they have been since like 2004.
sessions is a good player, but id trade him for a sf, or a center.
jennings, redd, (battier/outlaw/) idk im just shitt1ng names out.
but ya, id cut sessions to resing c.v twit. cause if they dont, the cavs will. and then they would win a ship.
      .
but we shouldnt hate on brandon, he tells it how we think it.

This is a young squad oozing with potential. An unlucky streak of injuries that’s had Maggette, SJax, Biedrins and Monta hurt last year really hurt chemistery. I think with a full training camp together this could be the beginning of a special team. I’d like to trade Maggette for another quality big, maybe sign-n-trade for Milsap. But these guys have the potential to be a 2nd or 3rd round playoff team and given time could challenge for it all in 3-4 years.

    • edilvia4sho Posted: Jun.30 at 2:26 pm
He’s probably going to be the most NBA ready rookie, the Warriors should really keep their word and not trade him..

    • Quail Posted: Jun.30 at 2:33 pm
      DONT TRADE BEIDRINS!!!

    • Blinguo Posted: Jun.30 at 9:11 pm
Yeah don’t trade Biedrins! Milsap is a restricted free agent and has been contract matched this week plus Utah hates GSDubz and aren’t going to help them get better. But hey, Speedy Claxton back. But too bad CJ Watson is the new Speedy Clax.
