Boozer to Chicago?

by Marcel Mutoni

As the madness of the offseason rages on, the Chicago Bulls have been suspiciously quiet. Until now, anyway.

Rumor has it that the Bulls have begun to chat with the Utah Jazz about Carlos Boozer’s availability. The Portland Trailblazers are reportedly also part of the talks. ESPN was first to report on this:

Another major multi-team trade might be looming in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls having discussed a deal that would be headlined by Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources stressed to ESPN.com that no deal was imminent Thursday and that both Portland and Utah are still evaluating additional trade scenarios. But two sources with knowledge of the three-team proposal confirmed that there have been substantive talks aimed at landing Boozer in Chicago, Hinrich in Portland and Tyrus Thomas in Utah.

The deal would seem to make sense for the Bulls (financially) and Boozer (who’s been said to want out of Utah for some time now, and this move would allow Utah to ink Paul Millsap long-term). Chicago is trying to free up cap space for next summer (this could help them clear about $20 mil in salary), and with Carlos entering the final year of his deal, this would give them a solid low-post presence in the increasingly competitive Eastern Conference.

Whatever happens, I just hope that someone has video of Jerry Sloan’s reaction when told of the possibility that he might have to coach Tyrus Thomas.

HEY Teddy, chill with Tyrusss okay! He’s been damn good to the Bulls on occasions! Mostly only shot-blokcing but theres no need to put him down! Oh yeah, and his wanna be jump-shot that he occasionally hits!

  • Zach

    Teddy
I can’t remember the last time Aldridge played somewhat of a decent game. I would try and get soemone else too. Tryus is not a bad player when he wants to be.

  • Tom

this would be great for the bulls

Can’t spell Boozer with the Z-Bo. Utah fans were polled and 72% are tired of him, citing several things (no defense, injuries-lack of games played). Milsap is going to sign with Portland from reports.

if i was portland id kill the deal and sign paul millsap and try to bring in someone like andre miller in a sign and trade deal with philly. that is prolly the best course of action. a heinrich for pryzbilla sounds good, but it would really affect their interior defence and also their depth because as we all know oden gets into foul trouble quite easily and Cousin isnt really a great defender.

Im with Teddy, Boozer is wayyy more valuable than Tyrus. And Aldridge has good games all the time. #2 option on the team. Learn about it, Zach..

I thought Booze would end up on one of Florida’s teams.

Didn’t the Bulls learn their lesson with the previous two Duke players they had?

  • edilvia4sho

They wouldn’t be trading Boozer for just Tyrus, its Tyrus and HINRICH! And just like the Utah fans tired of Boozer, I’m a Chicago fan and I’m tired of him even being a possibility for the Bulls, he’s a bum! The BULLS shouldn’t give up HINRICH for him! End of story.

  • rob

its not gonna happen! srry chi fans! but as u know by now, portland signed millsap to an offer sheet and if it goes thru, the deals dead and boozer will stay put. so the biggest loser in all of this is utah. after next summer they will be the eventual lottery team.

I don’t want him in NY either.

GET THIS DONE!! I DONT WANT MILSAP!!!

  • ngoiekafita

@ nate the great: what’s wrong with ‘sap?
I wouln’t mind getting HIM instead of Sideshow Varejo!

  • http://www.broy7.com nate the great

yeah, but i think its a waste. he is a restricted free agent which mean we cant trade him.
he would be an overpaid bench player.
and we have bigger problems then the pf spot.
we need to first resign roy, and aldridge.
and then find a better point guard.
i really wanted a veteren pg like kidd, to help produce bayless.
and then i wanted a defense leader at the small forward. i wanted to trade outlaw or webster and blake and a future first rounder for tayshaun prince.

You don’t want Boozer. He is just looking for a new cash cow. He will be hurt before the first game.
