Carlos Boozer … Stays?

Well, that`s a bit of a surprise. And not everyone is pleased with his decision: “So Carlos Boozer is coming back. Whoop-de-do and hold the confetti. Boozer announced Tuesday that he will `opt in.` As any Jazz fan has known for months, Boozer had the option to leave the Jazz and chase bigger money or return to the Jazz for the final year of his paltry $12.6 million contract. So he’s back, and not because he wants to be here. He’s back because the economy stinks. He’s back because no other NBA team wants him at that price or anything close to it. He’s back for a lot of reasons, but not because he wants to win or because he wants to wear a Jazz uniform. The guy who said last December `no matter what, I’m going to get a pay raise,` didn’t get a raise.”

sorry but if i was a jezz fan this is really disappointing. there are a lot of guys who would be proud to play for that franchise, not just be there for the check!

Its hard to blame the guy in this economy do you take the money or an uncertainity…does this make a free agent next summer?

Carlos is trying to get as much money as possible? All the while, still averaging 20 and 10? Wow, how evil can you get? C’mon, get a grip, people. He’s doing the job he’s paid to do. If he’s not going to get paid more to do it elsewhere, then he should be entitled to stay. This whole loyalty thing in pro sports is really overhyped. Good luck to him, I say.

After reading the story in SLAM a few years back about how and where he grew up, and his child being sick, i tend to be a bit less judgemental.

what does this mean for millsap?

  • Rasheedionics

That must be the softest 20 and 10 in NBA history.

Doesn’t change the fact that it’s 20 and 10 though, does it? Isn’t there another debate on this site at the moment, surrounding Amare’s failure to consistently average the 10 part?

20 & 10 are not as great as people thing. remember z bo can get that and he is awful. I’d rather have someone who cared that some one just for the check. Look at ariza in LA, he put himself on the line for is team, booz would put himself on the line for a kindergardener!!!

    Please Detroit, bring in Millsap.

i still can’t understand why y’all thought he wouldnt opt out….after his play he wasn’t going to get anywhere near what he is making, the economy has an effect, but his play was the killer. His best best was to cash in on the final year at utah, come back with stronger play, and then cash in again when a team doesn’t get Lebron or Wade..

    F*ck Boozer

Any chance Deron Williams leaves the Jazz when his contract runs out?

  • Boozer’s Dark Side

“Doesn’t change the fact that it’s 20 and 10 though, does it?”

If you’d watched Boozer play last year you would know that these are incredibly misleading stats. Sure he puts up 20 and 10 but he consistently fights teammates for rebounds, once throwing Brewer to the floor to wrestle one away from him.

He puts up 20 points but he easily allows just as many, if not more, per game and that just when he’s on the floor! Which doesn’t happen often. Boozer is the most misleading player in the league.

I hope Jerry Sloan gives Boozer a Marbury this year.
