Courtney Lee on Leaving Orlando

Let`s just say it wasn`t the happiest moment of his life when the trade to New Jersey was announced: “It was definitely a shock,` Lee said. `Going all the way to the Finals on a good team, just expecting to regroup for next year and make it back to the playoffs again and just to get the news that you’ve been traded, it definitely was a shock but it’s one I have to live with.` And now you’re here, playing for one of the worst teams, and they just traded their best player. `It’s definitely hard to cope with that,` Lee said. `But knowing the plan of the Nets and them still having Devin Harris and then getting a good draft pick this year, it’s just a moving forward process.`”

If Courtney believes he’s a good player, shouldn’t it be a challenge to lead this team and make it better? It’s not like they Bucks or Wolves. D. Harris, Brook Lopez, Yi, Rafer… Not a bad foundation to build on.

    whats there to moderate?

Harris and Lee is going to be a fun backcourt to watch develop.

I certainly felt Courtney Lee would part of Orlando’s future given his solid performance in the play-offs. Yes, the inbounds alley-oop pass Lee missed in Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers hurt! However, Courtney has much heart and many skills so he will do well with any team!

Quoth the Harris “RT @devin34 you trade your best player?????????????and you want to make the playofss????????????????that’s crap man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” NJ is in for a world of hurt next year. With a coach who is on the hot seat and players with questionable motivation, it could get UGLY… FAST… like the Clips of this year bad. Better hope that Lopez continues to develop and Harris pulls his head out… as they got nothing else for Mr. Lee to work with… …and let’s face it, he prospered in the ORL system as he was able to play with vets who spread the floor and let him do what he does best… not so this year).

Hey hey now, the Nets are not THAT bad! There are much worst in the league, The Nets are going to have to regroup and work extremely harder than Orlando, but the team has potential and I’m excited to see the Lee/Harris combo

    they have a nice team.
Chris douglas roberts, harris, lee, lopez, terrence williams, brooke lopez, (yi), Alston, Battie, Maurice Ager… idk anyone else.
correct me if some of those players arnt on the team.
they have a lot of small guards, but CDR is like 6′6″ 6′7″.
run like harris, lee, hassel, cdr, lopez. you woul have no D.

Hey, we all know Orlando treats its core players with the utmost respect they deserve! Just ask the 2 point guards that brought them to the finals!

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.1 at 2:58 pm
What are they going to do with Skip now there too? Is Skip going to leave for free agency? Because again, he finds himself in a back-up role when he deserves to start.
    Their line-up should be:
    1. Devin Harris
    2. Courtney Lee
    3. Chris Douglas-Roberts
    4. Yi Jian Lian
    5. Brook Lopez.
Not much defense, but still a very promising young core of talented players.
Someone just needs to motivate these guys, and that’s Devin and the coach’s jobs.
Especially a guy like Yi Jian Lian… He has a lot of potential and his skills are pretty decent, but he tends to slack a little bit on both ends of the court. Somebody needs to give him a big kick to motivate him more.

Just to make this clear to the other commenters: Yi is not a good NBA player. He should not be starting. He is not part of a good foundation. The dude is a power forward and shot 38% last year. He had a PER of 11.

  • dma Posted: Jul.1 at 3:24 pm
i don’t think the nets are that special. devin harris is the only bright spot on that team. brook lopez is just an average big guy on a crap team. think elton brand for much of his career. and yi? forgettaboutit.

  • jose Posted: Jul.1 at 4:23 pm
orlando is a bunch of a-holes.courtney lee is a cool guy. so wat if he has a girls name.dude still did work haha

  • Josh D Posted: Jul.1 at 4:25 pm
No better way to start with your new team by calling them one of the worst teams in the league

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.1 at 4:32 pm
Obviously Yi has been underachieving like crazy his first what, 2 or 3 years in the NBA? Let’s not write him off just yet. I’ve seen him play quite and bit, and his skills are there. He just needs a little, and I mean LITTLE Charles Oakley in him. Maybe I’m wrong about Yi, but its possibly he could be a decent player in the league. Seriously.
After all, he’s nearly an All-Star starter! LOL

  • Hursty Posted: Jul.1 at 10:10 pm
dma is a moron if he thinks Brand was ‘average’ for most of his career.

  • BETCATS Posted: Jul.1 at 10:44 pm
Teddy: chris douglass roberts gets no burn and will be a free agent this offseason. Dont expect seeing him back….

  • NBA China Posted: Jul.1 at 10:55 pm
Courtney Lee is a great player, better than Monta Ellis IMO. Harris and Lee will be a crazy quick backcourt. They need to be a run and run team. Just pack the team with sprinters.
