Flip Murray May Be Philly-Bound

The two sides reportedly still need to work out quite a few details before anything becomes official: “With Lou Williams, Jrue Holiday and Willie Green the only full-fledged guards on the roster, Ed Stefanski is continuing his search for a veteran. A source familiar with the situation confirmed some early contact concerning Atlanta Hawks unrestricted free agent Ronald ‘Flip’ Murray (a Philadelphia native who played at Strawberry Mansion High), but said that Murray’s agent is looking for more than a 1-year commitment.”

His school was “Strawberry Mansion High?” Sounds like a tv show or a weird name for a dessert.

y the hell did they let andre go then? oh cause of the 3 years? pssh.

It’s known as “Mansion” by local residents. ‘Reece Rice–leading scorer in modern history of philly hi school sports– also recently went there, before attending GW.

How many balls are they playing with in Philly this year?

Maybe it’s me, but this team needs a guy who can average over 4 assists a game. Are they going to roll will Sammy D and Brand as the frontcourt? It makes a bit more sense that way..

What they need to do is trade away their big contracts and build around their young players(Williams,Holiday,Young,Speights,Smith). They have several players whos contracts run out in 2011(Green,Kapono,Dalembert), so they might as well set that as their “under the cap” date. All they would have to do is get some good value in a trade for Iguodala and Brand. Andre shouldnt be too hard to move, but they have a year and a half to prove that Brand is healthy and build up his trade value. All this “lets stay mediocre” $#!+ is getting real annoying.

I would like to agree with that YC, but if they moved say Speights and Williams for a guy like Duhon the 76ers look like a 45 win team. They do need to find a way out of Brand’s contract though.. Maybe Brand for Kenyon Martin? lol…

  • Young C

As long as the contracts expire before 2011, I’d trade Brand for just about anything at this point.I agree Duhon could get us to 45 wins possibly, but that’s the point. It would be just another mediocre year and a first round exit at best

  • Young C

But I wouldn’t give up Williams or Speights alone for Duhan let alone both. If we could have traded Miller for him I would have but that ship has sailed

Anybody who thinks they need to move Dala is flat out wrong. Dala’s just 25, no reason not to keep him with the young core, especially since he is such a good team player

  • Young C

True. But there are two problems with keeping Iguodala.1) He’s 4 years older than Thaddeus which means they won’t hitting their prime at the same time. 2) Dala and Thad Young play the same position.Unless Thad plays PF full time, they are horrible offensively when Andre plays the 2. How can your two best players play the same position?
