Kobe to Sign an Extension?

Says here that Bryant is on the cusp of re-upping for three more years: “Kobe Bryant elected not to terminate the final two years of his contract and was expected to sign a three-year extension sometime this month. Bryant would make a guaranteed $47.8 million over the next two years and could earn another $86 million to $91 million with the extension, depending on NBA salary-cap figures to be determined in 2011. There was optimism that the sides would reach agreement, one source familiar with the situation calling it `a layup` but declining to speak further about specifics.”

Hey, if Lakers keep everyone else and sign a decent PG like Andre Miller, they can easily win the next 2 championships because there’s no other dominant team in the NBA right now who can truly challenge them.. Well, unless Celtics sign Sheed… lol.

Now lets sign Ariza to a upgraded 5 to 6 million dollar deal and drop Lamar to about 8 to 9 millon deal. Then Lakers will repeat as CHAMPIONS!!!

if kobe was smart. he would opt. out, and sign a smaller contract for less, so his team would have money to resign the key pieces.
if he truely is a team player he would.
but he is dumb, and the Cavs will win a another ring for the shaq legacy.

It’s sad but players’ greediness actually helps professional sports in a way. That way the best players make the most money, obviously which helps to make the teams more balanced. The point I’m trying to make is: what if 12 superstar veterans picked a random team in the league and decided to all sign there for minimum salary? Automatic championship. If a bunch of guys were willing to do this every year, the balance of the league would be ruined. I guess this is kind of off topic but it’s something I’ve always thought about as an option for older players looking solely for a championship.
