Marbury Warns Free Agents About the Knicks

One gets the feeling that the Knicks` front-office must not like this guy very much: “I wouldn’t want to play in that system,` Marbury said. `That system can’t win championships. You can’t win championships if you don’t talk about defense. In Boston, the coaches even play defense. Marbury said he believes being exiled for four months `mentally damaged` him and effected his Boston performance.”

Him and B. Jennings would get along swimingly.

  • Rasheedionics Posted: Jul.1 at 10:06 am
Starbury has been mentally damaged way before he even played for the Knicks.

  • Rasheedionics Posted: Jul.1 at 10:06 am
    LOL @ Eboy comment

Marbury talking about defense? He’s kidding, right?

  • neaorin Posted: Jul.1 at 10:10 am
Because if there’s one guy who knows all about winning championships, it’s Marbury.

‘effected’ his Boston performance? Quality journalism starts with correct word usage.

  • Missu Posted: Jul.1 at 10:27 am
cosign Rasheedionics’s comment. He’s had problems on just about every team he has been on.

  • CDef28 Posted: Jul.1 at 10:29 am

  • juan baez Posted: Jul.1 at 11:36 am
wow…this guy has the nerve to critisize the team after he did nothing for them but take millions of dollars….he really knows about being a team player thats why hes on the bench now…

Let’s see… head tattoo, talks about himself in the third person, just got past the first round in the playoffs as a non-contributing 8th man and HE is the one talking trash???
Can he just get on his way to Europe already?

  • rav Posted: Jul.1 at 11:47 am
“Can he just get on his way to Europe already? ” no – we dont want him over here

  • Kevin Wilson Posted: Jul.1 at 11:56 am
If anybody knows about not winning championships, it’s Stephon Marbury.

  • Darksaber Posted: Jul.1 at 12:51 pm
Oh shut your piehole already, “Star”bury!

Wow… I’m all good for a player speaking his mind, but after that fiasco with the Knicks, does he really want to continue his negative “legacy” here in New York? He’s acting like he was the only one affected. In case he and others don’t know, the Knicks didn’t exactly benefit from keeping him on their roster, either.

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Jul.1 at 3:06 pm
It would be cool if the Knicks sued him for defamation. For, say, $20m.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.1 at 4:18 pm
    ^ LOL

  • Z Posted: Jul.1 at 4:31 pm
Forget the messenger for a second and concentrate on the message. Is he right or is he right?

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.1 at 5:05 pm
Shut up with your probably truthful logic, Z.

  • IllWill21 Posted: Jul.1 at 6:55 pm
Marbury carried that team for quite a while, with no real help or coaching. then he never got a real chance under dantoni. regardless of anybodies opinion, DEEFENSE wins championships… period.. and dantoni will never win a ring under his system. it is really easy to defend once slowed down. ask Pop

  • Max7 Posted: Jul.1 at 7:59 pm
Z, wrong and wrong. Lang should update his recent Marbury “article” to transmit one final message from the GPS: “RECALCULATING. CANCER RETURNING. MAKE A U-TURN.”

  • chintao Posted: Jul.1 at 10:10 pm
Marbury’s great, and he’s right. Nevertheless, there is nothing to be gained by smearing the Knicks. The coach did a great job of dragging the franchise through the mud all on his own last season. Just sit back and watch the way top free agents steer clear.

  • Momma No Like Cold Posted: Jul.1 at 11:23 pm
Eboy, Jennings and Marbury went to different schools together.

Here comes another 5 Marbury articles in SLAM.

  • rikson Posted: Jul.2 at 9:19 am
And the knocks warn the league about marbury… so what?!

  • rikson Posted: Jul.2 at 9:19 am
    *knicks

  • Seth Posted: Jul.2 at 1:28 pm
Maybe the tattoo on his dome has something to do with the “mental damage.”

  • RC the Bx Posted: Jul.13 at 8:15 am
This from a guy who every team he played for got better after trading him.
Ask Minnesota, New Jersey, Phoenix and maybe New York.
Marbury was another talented, selfish player who did little to help his teams take the next step.
All he did in New York was collect paychecks, little else.
Interesting to see how many teams line up for his services.
