McDyess to San Antonio?

Word in rumor-ville is that Antonio could end up playing alongside Tim Duncan and co.: “The Spurs have emerged as the frontrunner in the chase to land free-agent forward Antonio McDyess. According to a league executive with knowledge of the negotiations, the Spurs have offered McDyess a three-year deal starting at the full mid-level exception, with the third year partially guaranteed. It has been widely speculated that McDyess, 34, will play only two more years. If the Spurs’ rumored bid is true, the Spurs have essentially sweetened their best two-year offer by guaranteeing McDyess a bit of money for retirement in 2011-12.”

Aaaaand the Cavs fail yet again

That would be a really nice pickup for the Spurs. They are starting to look scary again if it happens.

    trade McDyess for shaq!!!

    co-sign Eboy

The Spurs continue to show the league why they’re the best team out there, year in, year out. I can’t wait to watch them next season!!

Dyess never got that ring in Detroit…
maybe he’ll get in SA. Didn’t he get traded to the Spurs or Nuggets or someone like 2 years ago and just re-sign with the Pistons?
I’m taking that mid level if I’m Antonio btw. No doubt about it.

It is good for the Spurs, they also signed Haislip who was playing in Spain and will probably get some minutes at the PF or SF.
Believe me, what the Spurs should do is try their best to convince Splitter. They have their rights, and he is just the guy they need to complete their inside game. The guy is just as good as Scola and way better than Oberto.

Replacing Bowen with Jefferson and Oberto/Thomas with ‘Dyess/Blair… keep in mind this team won 54 games last year without Manu for 40 games… does this end the Drew Gooden era in SA?

Wow. I had no idea McDyess was 34!

this has to happen. tiago would be really nice too.

  • Exile

That would be awesome! The Silver and Black are the perfect obstacle for the Lake Show in the West.

  • Statik

SA is once again proving why they are always in the mix; they shore up the backcourt and are now working on getting TD help up front…make this happen!

    And the rich get richer….

The Pistons team I like is falling apart. Man, I really can’t say anything good about Joe Dumars these days. Well, some change needed to be done, I admit that, but Ben Gordon, seriously? Anyway McDyess will fit in good. Wonder what’s going to happen with Gooden.

At what point do we start to blame D. Ferry? I mean you can’t miss ALL free agents, can you?

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

wow, that would be a formidable starting 5, albeit a bit old. If Manu makes it back from his injury and they get a few youngsters who can contribute from the bench, the Mavs won’t be able to handle them at all next season….. Way to go, Cubes. Overpay for ineffective old PG’s, while true PLAYERS get picked up by the opponents.

NO! Mcdyess to Portland to back Aldridge. Det can have Frye, he’ll be pretty good but Blazers need a vet for back.

  • Bostwik

Another old big guy for the spurs. How shocking.

  • MalanaCream

al@ 100% agree about splitter, he’s young, tall and have some nasty skillz… They need a C, I couldn’t understand how they kept Oberto while they could’ve Splitter..

  • Hicksy

Why aren’t the Spurs say chasing Channing Frye?? Or someone similar.McDyess will be nice a TRUE shot blocking, rebounding CENTER is what they need.

Still not sold on the spurs, easily top three in the east. But at this point in time i dont see the beating the lakers in seven. Right now im not sure if I would rather have TD on my roster the Gasol.

  • Rusty

    *top three in the west*

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Why would they do this? I mean, short-term it makes sense, but what the heck are the Spurs going to do once their players starting retiring? I mean 80% of your roster is hard to replace overnight…

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Splitter would be a great pick-up for the Spurs. And his name kicks @ss. Tiago Splitter.

  • spurs100%

yup i agree the spurs did do good this off seasion with the steal of a trade in RJ and then that draft pick in blair with splitter and that spanish guy haislip and if they get mcdyess wow what a line up and bench and then if the bucks release bowen and he lands back in sa dam watch out hobe and the nba the spurs are comeing for u

  • tom

god damn spurs, it was so nice not having them in the finals

  • bk10

    spurs/celtics nba finals… boston in 6

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

HObe. Ha! That cracked me up. Even better than “Anti-Mike”.

  • Dusty

I quote Rusty: “Right now im not sure if I would rather have TD on my roster the Gasol.”

Are you out of your mind?!?!

  • Ruffdaddy

They just picked up a sleeper from Spain. Marcus Haislip, He’s a beast. He’s been out of the league a few years. Former Lottery Pick of the Bucks.
