    Nuggets Aquire Arron Afflalo

Yeah, we were hoping for a juicy, pickmeup story to spice up this Monday afternoon. This was all we found. Sigh: “Detroit traded Arron Afflalo and Walter Sharpe to Denver for a future second-round pick, a move that creates another $1.8 million in salary cap space for the Pistons, a league source said Monday.”

Steps in and fills Dahntay’s shoes.

    • Eboy Posted: Jul.13 at 1:47 pm
That’s a nice pickup for the Nugs. TAD must hate this.

    • mr.goode Posted: Jul.13 at 1:55 pm
what a beautiful day indeed….this is slowly improving my nuggets…afflalo is goin to fit into the system jusst fine…and george karl may even find time 4 walter sharpe…because he has given uncommon players a role in the past…especially when injuries occur (or not)

tad probably just crying …d jones cant be happy either

    • Allenp Posted: Jul.13 at 2:48 pm
      TAD
Your Pistons are in full fledged rebuilding mode. Crazy. Good pick up for Denver to replace Dahntay Jones since Affalo can actually score a little bit.

    • Tuomas Posted: Jul.13 at 3:02 pm
Damn, more cap space but even less D. Reeeeally mixed feelings about all this. After starting 4-0 last year, this is what it’s come to. Crazy, you can say that again. Hopefully Dumars DOES actually have something cookin’.

    • Brad Long Posted: Jul.13 at 3:04 pm
Is Affalo a capable defender? I haven’t seen enough of him to know.

    • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Jul.13 at 3:05 pm
allenp, full fledged rebuilding mode? u so crazy! stuck, rip, tay, bgizzle, charlie v, maxiell, etc. is rebuilding??? in the words of clay davis, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

    • Eboy Posted: Jul.13 at 3:09 pm
B………I think he’s pretty solid on the defensive end. Not sure if he’s as note perfect as Battier in his prep for guys or quite as intense as a Ron Ron in his prime….but I think he has the makeup and the bodytype to make him a standout for years to come.

If we get some frontcourt help– we will contend!

    • niQ Posted: Jul.13 at 3:20 pm
      Will Arron start?

    • Drew Posted: Jul.13 at 3:48 pm
Word in Denver is that JR will start this year. Affalo will get 20 or so minutes a game.

    • dma Posted: Jul.13 at 4:13 pm
odd.. i just got niQ’s email on here. anyways… okafur or boozer to detroit?

    • Quail Posted: Jul.13 at 5:42 pm
boozer already opted back in to Utah. okafor would be nice tho.

    • YKnot Posted: Jul.13 at 6:45 pm
And thus ends the Walter Sharpe era in Detroit.

    • Drew Posted: Jul.13 at 6:52 pm
afflalo showed signs of being more than capable when given enough minutes in detroit. hes a hard worker who can already defend on and off the ball quite well, and his footwork will only improve. he can also knock down the open 3 and is an underrated slasher. from, an extremely disappointed pistons fan

    • JoeMaMa Posted: Jul.13 at 8:39 pm
Not to big up Jones or slander Affalo, but Affalo doesn’t D up close to Jones. Jones busts his ass and even if he doesn’t stop you, he annoys you and gets under your skin, takes you off your game.
I love Affalo and want to see him succeed, but I just can’t see him being that guy that Jones was.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.13 at 9:36 pm
Jones was an obnoxious defender, something that you want on your team. Although, he can’t play a lick of offense aside from put-back/set-up dunks.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.13 at 9:38 pm
Two best defenders in the NBA: Shane Battier and Ron Artest. Am I the only one who thinks its total BS that LeBron and Kobe BOTH made all-defensive 1st team, while those guys got 2nd team? Its definitely starting to seem like the All NBA Defensive Team has started catering to the big names… I mean at least have ONE of those guys, either Shane or Artest be All 1st Defensive. Also, when will Shane Battier get a defensive player of the year award?

    • Dacre Posted: Jul.13 at 11:05 pm
Shane will get the DPOY award when he’s the best defender in the L I guess….

    • D12FSU Posted: Jul.13 at 11:27 pm
Dwight will win DPOY for the next 4 years

    • ciolkstar Posted: Jul.14 at 5:12 am
      Afflalo >>> Dahntay Jones
He might not be as good an athlete but he’s bigger, just as tough, and definitely a better shooter, especially wide open threes. The Nuggs have to start JR next year.

    • knock knock Posted: Jul.14 at 9:00 am
lebron on the defensive team. WHAt a joke.

    • Jukai Posted: Jul.14 at 9:56 am
Does he really spell his name Arron?

    • Jukai Posted: Jul.14 at 10:01 am
Teddy-the-Bear: Kobe and Lebron pretty much played the full season at 100%. Ron and Shane were injured a lot, and even when they came back, they weren’t always at full strength. yes, they are much better defenders and if they played all 82 games, I’d say you’d have a legit complaint… but one can say that their defensive impact wasn’t as felt as Lebron and Kobe’s because of the games they missed.
Now Chris Paul on the list, that pisses me off..

    • tavoris Posted: Jul.14 at 1:55 pm
Teddy & Jukai…didn’t we have this discussion when the All-NBA teams came out?

    • omg Posted: Jul.14 at 2:49 pm
