Okur Gets an Extension

Mehmet will stay in Utah for close to $21 million over two seasons: “More money, and more seasons in Utah, are in the bag for Mehmet Okur. The Jazz on Thursday night said they have agreed to a two-contract extension with Okur, their starting center and an NBA All-Star in 2007. The extension begins with the 2010-11 season and runs through the 2011-12 season, team spokesman Jonathan Rinehart said.”

This is big for the Jazz. Honestly Okur is twice as important as keeping Boozer in town. Now they just gotta make sure they keep Paul Millie.

Apparently $10 mill/year is the new going rate for anyone signing a contract.

I really like the dude. I hope he averages 20 ppg this year.

WWWHHHYYYYY? He is a center that plays behind the 3 point line, can’t defend, can’t rebound, only can shoot when hot-streaky. Jazz will go no where with him. Should have traded him for a defensive center.

He’s so important that I almost NEVER think of him. At all.

Okur should have went to the Rockets.

@ The Seed: What are you talking about? He does both rebounding and defending. Just because he shoots the three doesn’t mean he doesn’t do anything else. He’s not exactly always a 20 and 10 guy, but his rebounding is actually quite decent.
