Report: Greek Offer on the Table for Lil’ Nate

Robinson is reportedly mulling over a two-year deal to join Josh Childress overseas: “Nate Robinson may be getting a big fat Greek payday. Newsday has learned that Olympiakos, the Athens-based team that last summer lured Josh Childress away from the NBA, has offered the Knicks’ 5-9 guard a two-year contract. Robinson, 25, a restricted free agent, could earn $10 million in the deal, according to a source. Knicks president Donnie Walsh said Tuesday that he had no information about the offer from Olympiakos other than the initial report by a Greek media outlet Monday night.”

Only Greer and Pargo are under 6’5 on that roster. Robinson would not survive against Euro PG’s. They would all lean on him and shoot over him, while he couldn’t get off his feet. Phanatinaikos has NO player under 6’5, and Spanoulis would eat him alive.

    First!!!!

    Alexander the NATE

And soon Olympiakos will be a team full of ex-NBA players.

  • solito

Good luck guarding 6’6 pure shooters like Spanoulis, Jasikevicius and Spanoulis. Wouldn’t do it Nate, that would be a rude awakening. Your game doesn’t translate internationally.

  • solito

…meant Diamantidis as the third one. And that is just the font court of Phanatinaikos.

  • solito

    Spanoulis, Jasikevicius and DIAMANTIDIS…

  • http://adfji.com Jukai

Solito: good luck having Spanoulis, Jasikevicius and Diamatidis guard Nate.

  • http://dillanleuyahoo.com Holy Baller

Lol @ Jukai, you’re totally right on that one. Nate will most definitely hold his own over there if he decides to leave.

  • Ken

I’m not denying that Nate’s height makes him a liability on defense, but I’d say his offense more than makes up for it. And just cause he’s short doesn’t mean he can’t get up. This is the guy who blocked Yao once…you don’t think he can’t block a 6’5 guy’s shot?

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Diamantidis is a pure shooter now? thought every sportscaster in europe calls him the best defender in the world during broadcasts (and he IS very good, but best? meh). As for Nate having trouble hanging with Spanoulis…. i don’t think so. And Jasicabbages (that sneering punk of a player) isn’t anywhere near as dangerous as he used to be, he spends more time lobbying for calls with the refs and grimacing his way into foul situations than anything. Not aging gracefully, that guy.

I think Nate will do good, iv der offering him more money he might aswell go

  • Blue

Um…Spanoulis is in trouble if Nate goes to Greece.

@Solito….:you insist Spanoulis is 6’5…he is hardly 6’3. Everybody in Greece knows this.Of the 3 guys you mention nobody is 6’6. The taller one is Diamantidis 6’5(i’ve talked to him,he is 6’5 max, trust me).
@Darksaber….:Diamantidis(top-20 guard in the world for the past 5 years) is not a pure shooter (like Yasikevicious or Navaro) but he is a really good one. Yasikevicious is aging gracefully from bball standpoint (Euroleague champion again being Panathinaikos MVP at the final four). He is just an arrogant dude that actually hates to play for greeks BUT he has to shallow his pride since they are the only ones in Europe that are giving the money he wants…

@Jukai & Holly Baller…:you got no idea what you’re talking about(which is acceptable)…, with the complicated zone defences that Obradovic (best coach in the world) is using, Nate will rarely have the ability to use his athletic advantages and penetrate (like Josh found out this year).Generally speaking this is another terrible move on our part but it doesn’t really matter since Panathinaikos is so loaded that the end result will be the same. At least we will enjoy some high flying moments from Josh and Nate….(and at least we avoided the two cartoons…)

  • solito

@Kostas: Just tring to make a point… They all hover around 190cm +/- (Jasi is arrogant, yes. But dude did put points on the board in a hurry).
@Jukai: Nate would only collect travel calls with the FIBA Refs. You can’t take three steps bevor dribbling over here.
@Holly… you can talk, after you have actually watched a Euro League game.
Main point: Nate should stay in the NBA. He is fun to watch and has great skill sets, but Euroball would kill it for him…

NAte aint goinG to Greece LMAO

  • zaza pachulia

    i like it

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Does the greek/euro league have a dunk comp? Thats about all I can see Nate getting out of this – other than alot of cash. Sure it’s motivated many others – and he would have a better chance to win games.

  • halkias

Yes Dacre there is a dunk comp in Greece.I think Nate will be a great offensive weapon for Olympiakos. He’s a good choice and if the team starts playing faster he and Childress will help a lot…

  • Andre green

All this good shooters and there tall talk sucks! Hell in the NBA where the athletes are just as athletic and everyone is taller than Nate anyway..hell i got Nate by a half an inch. FYI to all who made comments if you can play basketball, you can play basketball anywhere!!! Not just type about how people can play basketball. I’m Andre Green former NCAA division 1 ball player..nuff said.

  • chintao

I don’t know if solito is right or wrong. Nevertheless, I hope Nate makes him eat his words.

  • http://www2.gsb.columbia.edu/faculty/jstiglitz/ KOSTAS KOUFOS

    @Andre GREEN…:for a moment i thought that you were A.Iverson….
@everybody…..:if Olympiakos doesn’t start going after real players and keeps searching for circus acts (Josh,Nate,David Lee etc)the end result is going to be the same: we will lose again all championships in 2010, especially if we have all three of the above guys. Mark my words, i wish i could bet on this to make some profit….(unfortunatelly the bookmakers know better than the kids i usually argue against here…)

  • Gambler

circus acts ? Nate and Lee are both good players..i don’t understand teh circus acts comments ?

  • KING

Umm nate robinson kinda blocked yao ming dunked over dwight howard and dunks over centers wit putback dunks and he can’t play internationaly?

  • BK All Day

There is no way that Spanoulis is 6’6 i saw that dude play in Houston and he is like 5’10. Nate would demolish him.

  • tavoris

    kostas koufos…u r hilarious

  • http://www.bbaxn.com Darksaber

sorry Fotsis, you don’t seem to have seen Lee in action much. That’s a hardworking powerfoward with hops who would be very good in europe as a 2nd option for example. Circus he a’int.

  • http://www.bbaxn.com Darksaber

he’d be a better version of (dare i say it) Antonis Fotsis. Just without the 3point range but much better in the blocks and a better defender/rebounder in general.

  • http://www2.gsb.columbia.edu/faculty/jstiglitz/ KOSTAS KOUFOS

@KING…..:he can play: at the IAAF league and excel at high-jump.
@BK…….:To put an end to this:Spanoulis is between 190-192cm (6’3 – 6’4) and is a WAY better player than Nate.(Actually you cannot even compare them, the one is a complete basketball player and the other one a freak of nature athlete that happens to play basketball .)

  • http://www2.gsb.columbia.edu/faculty/jstiglitz/ KOSTAS KOUFOS

@DARKSABER…..:Lee(and Josh) ain’t really circus, they only are for Euroleague final-4 purposes where the game becames extremely sophisticated. It was an exaggeration in my part. Lee is definitelly NOT at the level of Fotsis. He might be a better rebounder(maybe) but Fotsis can put the ball on the flour, can pass (he began as a playmaker until he grew up to be 6-10′) can REALLY shoot, can reach at least as high as Lee (he is longer than Lee with a really good vertical, he is doing great dunks in games) and basically is a guy that should have been an NBA all-star if he didn’t possess the maturity-brain of a 6 year old.
